Race 1: SWESTERN FOOD WHOLESALERS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
I’M NO SAINT – Raced wide throughout.
IGBO –Weakened in the home straight after leading. Rider L McCoy reported that the gelding raced very greenly throughout and failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight .
MY CHIN – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
PACKAGE – Near the 800m was inconvenienced when RIPOVA (A Bakos) shifted in when not not quite clear. App A Bakos was advised to exercise more care.
Race 2 ROMA GOODYEAR AUTO CARE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap Base Rating 50 1200 metres
PHIONAIX – Stewards acceded to a late gear request to remove the nose roll from the approved gear of the gelding. Trainer P Webster was fined $100 under AR206(2). Knuckled on jumping and shortly after was tightened.
CALCULATED RISK – Performed poorly. Rider J Rudd advised that the gelding was disappointing and is not suited by racing on sand tracks. A post-race veterinary examination revealed
SALAZAR – Slow to begin.
TOURMASTER – Rider A Bakos reported that the gelding laid in throughout. App A Bakos was reminded of her obligation to ensure that her whip action is below shoulder height.
BRIGHT COPPER – Rider G Geran reported that the mare never travelled today and was disappointing.
ROSTRUM – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: DJ & KA HORNICK TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1640 metre
THE KROC – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and lost ground. Severely inconvenienced rounding the first turn.
ATYAAF – Rounding the first turn was hampered when its rider was assisting PROMPT REPLY.
MY TARANAKI (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
MAXIMUM HUSTLE - Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PROMPT REPLY – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, was placed in restricted room and blundered when WAMWARRA BAY shifted in marginally and MY TARANAKI (NZ) shifted out marginally, resulting in its rider app L Barr becoming very unbalanced and almost being dislodged. After viewing the patrol footage and taking evidence from all parties stewards could not be satisfied that anyone rider was culpable under the rules and deemed the matter a racing incident.
Race 4: LJ HOOKER ROMA OPEN PLATE 1640 metres
Trainer W Baker fined $100 for late rider notification of App L Barr on Rinviata (LR 67)
HOCKED – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
LI’L RODGE – Raced keenly in the lead.
MARMARIS – Hampered on jumping.
PART THE SEA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Race 5: LSA DEMOLITION PTY LTD OPEN Handicap – 1000 metres
ALL EEZ – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
IL BANDITO – Declared a late scratching at 4:16pm after the gelding was found to be mildly lame in the off foreleg. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on IL BANDITO be refunded in full with deductions of 16 cents win and 18 cents the place to apply.
