GENERAL

The Surat Race Club’s meeting scheduled for the 3rd of September had been transferred to the Roma Turf Club due to the state of the Surat track today the 4th of September 2022. Race times were amended to the following: Race 1- 11.55am, Race 2- 12.25pm, Race 3- 12.55pm, Race 4- 1.30pm, Race 5- 2.00pm, Race 6- 2.30pm. The distances for Races 1 and 2 were amended by Stewards from a 1000m start to the 900m start due to surface water being located where the barriers would be placed in the 1000m chute. The distance for Race 3 was amended by the Club from 1400m to 1640m due to not having a 1400m chute.

Appr Jockey S Champkin is not riding at today’s program due to other riding commitments. Rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary.

Stewards spoke with Jockey E Bell who advised this start was the horse’s first start for some time and may have needed the run and added the track conditions and kickback may not have suited the Mare today. Jockey Bell added that despite her efforts to improve in the race at approximately the 500m point it failed to respond to her riding.  Stewards noted her explanation. The Mare was vetted post-race due to the seemingly disappointing performance with no abnormalities being detected.
