In an effort to obtain better going the rider elected to shift out further when approaching the 1000m point and then raced wide from that point for the remainder of the event.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to review the start of this event. Stewards inquired into the reason why DOLLY DISCO had started from the incorrect barrier. After taking evidence from all parties involved including Starter J Harvey it was identified that Ms Harvey had erroneously directed DOLLY DISCO be loaded into the innermost barrier. Bearing in mind DOLLY DISCO had been placed 3rd by the Judge consideration was then given to provisions of AR204 as well as AR198. Ultimately Stewards determined that despite DOLLY DISCO jumping from barrier one as opposed to its allotted barrier six, with consideration to the fact the mare had settled toward the rear of the field and bearing in mind the notable margin between 3rd and 4th of some 11-lengths, that no material advantage or disadvantage had been gained through the error and as such declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers. Furthermore, Stewards admonished Starter J Harvey and advised her to take more care to ensure that all mounts start from the allocated barrier at all times and should there be an error, to immediately notify the Chairman of Stewards. Additionally, Stewards acting under the provision of AR 198 (1) reprimanded Jky A Spinks for his failure to ensure his mount jumped from allocated barrier. A report will be compiled for the Chief Steward detailing the events surrounding the error occurring.
