RACE 1:BARRY RICHARDSON MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
BUSH BATTLE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
PERFECT WORK – Raced wide for the majority.
KABUKICHO – Began awkwardly and bumped.
DANCING TROFFEA – On arrival at the barriers, apprentice B Bailey dismounted and raised concerns with Stewards that she was concerned with the mares’ action and as a result refused to remount the horse. DANCING TROFFEA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:15pm with Stewards ordering the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 3:15pm:
25 cents in the dollar for the winner
25 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner
25 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
A post-race veterinary examination on DANCING TROFFEA revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Trainer W Baker was charged pursuant to AR228(b) in that he directed offensive comments towards another licensee in the mounting yard after the running of this race. Mr Baker was subsequently fined $300.
MRS VEE – Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 2: NRG SERVICES QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000m
UCHI – Slow to begin.
HOFFMAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
OAKFIELD TARGET – Bumped on several occasions with JOEY JAWS soon after the start.
JOEY JAWS (NZ) – Bumped on several occasions with OAKFIELD TARGET soon after the start.
HERE'S TO POWER – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 3:EZYQUIP ROMA CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m
SIR OCCY – Slow to begin.
SEMPER INVICTUS – When questioned jockey apprentice J Busuttin reported her mount felt flat throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer J Patterson was advised a warning would be placed on gelding for its poor performance.
REPLICA – Stood flat footed. Trainer B Waldron was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for standing flat footed.
KANTAI – Proved difficult to load. Trainer J Halpin was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for being difficult to load.
RACE 4: WILD DESERT OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
KA BLING – Began awkwardly shifting out hampering PACKAGE.
ART BY CONCORDE – Began awkwardly. Lost both hind plates in running.
FLANK SPEED – Reared on jumping and slow away.
KAT CHINNA – Jockey M Gray reported when the pace of the race quickened approaching the 500m, the gelding was left flat footed and when asked for an effort, failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.
PACKAGE – Awkwardly placed on the heels of KA BLING shortly after the start.
RACE 5:WILD DESERT BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1640m
KARIACTION – Harmlessly dislodged rider enroute to the barriers, broke lose before being recaptured a short time later. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Began awkwardly and bumped. Apprentice A Heinrich reported soreness to her left index finger and right ankle.
SPOOKY SPIRIT – Raced wide for the majority.
RUMBLING AWAY – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
SHOALWATER BAY – Over-raced early and middle stages. When questioned, apprentice J Busuttin reported her mount over-raced in the early and middle stages and when placed under pressure proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
TIME TO TESTIFY – Began awkwardly losing ground. Over-raced early and middle stages.
SEEYA LATER GATER – Bumped on jumping.
