GENERAL
Due to rider Darren Evans not attending the meeting, stewards approved jockey Scott Sweedman and the replacement rider for HORNNIC in race 3.
 
Due to apprentice Chelsea Fracis being engaged on an emergency that gained a start (DUN WITH ROSES) in race 5, apprentice Tom Orr was the approved rider replacement on SAINT MARTIN.
 
Trainer Wayne Baker was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of riders Gabrielle Semmens (SAMURAI WAND) and Matthew Gray (TAMIEKA WARRIOR) in race 2.


RACE 1: Beauview Quarry BM60 Handicap 900 METRES

The start of this race was delayed when SOUL SPIRIT had to undergo remedial farrier work after pulling a shoe entering the mounting yard.
 
GOBBLED – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow into stride.
 
POINT BE – Apprentice S Bailey reported upon returning to scale that her mount had resented the kickback and was inclined to hang outwards as a result.
 
KOBE ASCOT – Slow to muster early speed.
 
ENFLAMED – Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOSMIAN – Proved difficult to load and a warning was issued against mares loading manners. Raced wide throughout.
 
IMMORTAL LASS – Raced wide throughout.
 
SOUL SPIRIT – Slow into stride and failed to muster any early speed.
 
 
RACE 2: Rex & Catherine Smith Memorial QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 METRES
 
 
BODHI – Raced wide throughout and resented the kick back.
 
BUSH BATTLE – Hung inwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
BALERION DRIVE – Slow to begin.
 
LAID BACK BON – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHANTILLY QUEEN – Slow to begin and trailed the field for the majority. Apprentice S Bailey reported that her mount had resented the kickback in running.
 
DANCING TROFFEA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to have blood present in the right nostril. DANCING TROFFEA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:47pm. Stewards ordered all monies invested on DANCING TROFFEA to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
27 Cents for all win bets and 19 cent the place bets.
Trainer W Baker was advised that the filly has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory 1000m gallop as per the provisions of AR79.
 

RACE 3: Rodney Hoffmann Class B Handicap 1000 METRES
 
 
TRISCAY’S WAR PASS – Began awkwardly and bumped with KANTAI. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice Kayla Baker explained that she felt the tempo of the race did not suit her mount and the gelding may be suited to races over a further distance than that of today’s event.
 
REIGNING CAPTIAN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
HORNNIC – Scott Sweedman was the approved replacement rider for Darren Evans (not attending the meeting). Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
 
COSMIC ARC – Slow to begin.
 
SIR OCCY – Slow into stride.
 
KABUKICHO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
KANTAI – Bumped at the start with TRISCAY’S WAR PASS.
 
MISS RAPIDE – Slow to begin.
 
SAY WHEN SUTTY – Blundered on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 

RACE 4: Sydeva Haulage Bendemere Cup OPEN Plate (Set Weights) 1000 METRES

 
VILLADEN (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
WARRAH FLASH – Slow into stride. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
AREYA TUCHUZY – Began awkwardly.
 
BORN FEARLESS – Slow to begin, Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KAT CHINNA – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 5: Bryan Payne Memorial BM50 Handicap 1200 METRES
 
Correct weight for this event was delayed to allow apprentice Shakira Bailey rider of third placed (TROUVE) to view the replays in relation to possible interference in the home straight. After viewing the replays, apprentice Bailey declined to proceed and correct weight was declared.
 
POCKET EIGHTS – Knuckled on jumping.
 
VELOCE METEOR – Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages and shifted outwards over the final 80m.
 
SO OUTRAGEOUS – Apprentice Jamie-Lee Devine advised that her mount was not suited to the track conditions and proved disappointing.
 
TIME TO TESTIFY – Slow into stride.
 
SAINT MARTIN – Apprentice Tom Orr was approved to replace Chelsea Fracis, who was engaged on an emergency which gained a start. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE DARK SIDE – Raced wide throughout. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HERE’S TO POWER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
TROUVE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
