GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following weight variations:
 
Race 5: TURN ME OVER – James Orman 56kg (+0.5kg)
Race 5: KIPLING’S JOURNEY – Larry Cassidy 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
 
As J Lloyd was stood down by the Club doctor following his ride in race 3, riding changes were made as per the Race Day summary sheet. J Lloyd was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride.
 
Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURF CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
KAYTEE REINADO – Change of tactics, from the wide barrier to be ridden back with cover if possible. Ridden accordingly.
 
MASTER MARKO (NZ) – It was noted the cross over noseband on the horse became loosened during the running of the race possibly placing the horse at some disadvantage.
 
CHAYSE 'N' TANYA – Slow to begin and lost ground. After being disappointed for run between DAMIANI and MASTER MARKO near the 200m, was awkwardly placed at heels over the final 100m, resulting in rider T See being unable to ride his mount out in his usual manner over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2150 metres
 
CASINO MONDIAL – Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly and lost ground. Continued to hang out for the remainder of the race and as a result rider W Peel was unable to ride the horse out on her usual manner in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of CASINO MONDIAL no abnormalities.
 
STREET DANCER – When asked to comment on the performance rider K Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of STREET DANCER revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken from STREET DANCER.
 
BADOOSH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: IPSWICH CUP TIX ON SALE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres
 
SAILOR'S SECRET – Near the 150m momentarily steadied when NORTHERN EXPRESS shifted in under pressure.
 
RALLY – Slow to begin. Taken wider rounding the home turn when shifted out to improve.
 
ELLIEZ STAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 4: VALE MERILYN HICKS Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
LANDSBOROUGH LAD – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
RED HOT RUBIX – Jumped out at the start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
DEVIL ENUFF – Slow to begin.  J Byrne, rider of DEVIL ENUFF, was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, trainer D Forster explained following the horse’s last start disappointing performance at Ipswich on 2nd May2022, she added tongue and blinkers today which in her opinion led to todays improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
PORT MOURANT – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
SWEET ALYSSUM – Began awkwardly.
 
YES WE'RE READY – W Peel, rider of YES WE’RE READY, was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
HOKE'S RUN - Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 2150 metres
 
KISS MY MILLO – Taken wider rounding the home turn when TURN ME OVER shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
TURN ME OVER (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Orman stated the horse did not travel comfortably today on the synthetic surface and when placed under pressure was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SPICY KING PRAWN – Over-raced and proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed symptoms of heat stress.  Rider M Hellyer was reprimanded under AR211 for returning to scale overweight. In assessing penalty Stewards considered M Hellyer’s excellent record under this rule.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Left a mid-field trailing position near the 1200m and progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 800m.
 
 
Race 6: SACRED ELIXIR QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE was declared a late scratching at 2:52pm after the horse dislodged its rider when proceeding to the barriers and galloped some distance before being captured. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st RINGMASTER – 22c win, 10c place
2nd POCKET FULL – 27c place
3rd FEARLESS KNIGHT – 22c place
 
A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed an abrasion to the near side hock. Jockey T See was examined the Club doctor and cleared of any injury.
 
FEARLESS KNIGHT – Change of tactics, from the wide barrier to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin was ridden forward and raced outside the leader from the 900m.
 
RINGMASTER – Bumped on jumping away.
 
FOUR MILE LANE – Held up approaching the home turn before shifting out to obtain clear running.
 
LEINSTER – Slow to begin.
 
BETTER STRINGS – Jumped out at the start and bumped RINGMASTER. Forced wider rounding the home turn when FOUR MILE LANE shifted out to improve.
 
RUDYARD – Over-raced in the early stages. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: DISCOVER IPSWICH Class 5 Handicap 1400 metres
 
AVOWAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
KUZCO LAD - Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
RATHLIN – Bumped at the start when PIVOTAL MOTION jumped in. Held for clear running from the entrance of the home straight until near the 200m.
 
PIVOTAL MOTION – Jumped in at the start.
 
DARING BELLE – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZEELUCK – Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 8: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres
 
RAGING POLE – Slow to begin.
 
BENTAYGA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider J Byrne was fined $500 pursuant to AR228(c) in that he directed inappropriate comments towards official starter Mr R Hanson as the start was effected.
 
CONFUSION – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event.
 
 
Race 9: EVENTS AT WWW.IEEC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1100 metres
 
AMERICANA MAGIC – Slow to begin.
 
KAVAK – Raced three wide throughout.
 
BETTER GET SET – Near the 200m, when improving into a narrow run to the inside of BOMBASAY, was tightened for room and had to be checked.
 
BOMBASAY – Hung in significantly under pressure in the home straight and near the 200m tightened BETTER GET SET which had to checked. Considering the poor racing manners of the gelding Trainer D Hansen was advised the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of BOMBASAY revealed no abnormalities.
