GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 7. R. Maloney +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: DULUX QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE     1000 Metres
 
BLIND DESIRE – Raced greenly and hung out throughout. Trainer B. Laming was advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of the filly.
 
GOLD COAST MILLO – Slow to begin.
 
OOHLALOUVRE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RISING RUBY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: HIGGINS 75 YEARS MAIDEN HANDICAP       1400 Metres
 
HOSTWIN ERICO – Bumped heavily at the start resulting in rider M. Butler becoming momentarily unbalanced. Shifted out approaching the 1200m. Raced greenly for the majority. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be displaying an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer J. Moore was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding. Additionally, HOSTWIN ERICO will require a veterinary clearance including the result of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
 
NAVILLUS HELLFIRE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Taken wider approaching the 1200m when HOSTWIN ERICO shifted out.
 
MISS RIBCHESTER – Bumped and lost ground at the start.
 
PAULI – Bumped on jumping.
 
IKNOWICANFLY – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.
 
SMASH IT MADDI – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
 
Race 3: HAYMES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1100 Metres
 
GALAXY GENERAL – Apprentice J. Williams reported that he had concerns with the gelding’s action. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FIFTY CARATS – Raced wide throughout.
 
JUST LOOKING – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LUCKY JESS – Raced wide throughout. Jockey S. Collett dropped her whip near the 200m.
 
 
Race 4: WHATEVER IT TAKES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP             2000 Metres
 
SNAPOUTOFIT (NZ) – Jockey M. Cahill, when asked to comment on the performance, stated that SNAPOUTOFIT was stepping up in distance today, raced keenly in front and this, in his opinion, had an effect on the finishing effort of the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and the thumps.  
 
HEREDITARY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
MAN OF HEART – Slow to begin. Shifted wider approaching the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
ZOUY'S COMET – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after being kicked by another horse whilst parading in the tie up area and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PRINCE OF TOKYO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 5: 24/7 ACCESS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP    1400 Metres
 
ROCKED – Slow to begin.
 
BAMBALAM – Raced wide throughout.
 
ASTERN VILLA – Raced wide from the 1100m.
 
KELLERS SHELTER – Declared a late scratching @ 4pm when the gelding lacerated its near hindleg when loading onto the float. Trainer L. Wanless was advised that KELLERS SHELTER would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
AWESOME MOON – Trainer T. Haydon was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
CLAUDIUS – Significantly slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, commenced to race fiercely and shifted wider on the track. Trainer P. Duff was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
 
Race 6: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1000 Metres
 
KING OF THE JUNGLE – Over raced when being restrained to obtain cover near the 800m. Near the 700m, raced in restricted room to the inside of BEEFEATERS which shifted in and obliged to race in restricted room until leaving the 450m. Apprentice O. Webb, rider of BEEFEATERS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a), for shifting in when insufficiently clear. Held up in the early stages of the home straight until near the 200m. After passing the 200m, laid in and was restrained from heels for a short distance.
 
TORQUE BOSSANOVA – Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn forcing CRUISING BILL wider.
 
TANTRUMS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
MAXIE TAP (NZ) – Raced in restricted room from the 700m to the inside of KING OF THE JUNGLE. Steadied near the 600m and obliged to check after passing the 450m when KING OF THE JUNGLE which was racing tight to the inside of BEEFEATERS, shifted in.
 
CRUISING BILL – Laid in under pressure near the 800m. Forced wider rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: VALE GERRY HIGGINS CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1000 Metres
 
WATERWORLD – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR RED PLANET – Raced in restricted room near the 500m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer P. Butterworth was reprimanded pursuant to AR106 for presenting OUR RED PLANET with incorrect gear. Consequently permission was granted for OUR RED PLANET to race in blinkers rather than visors.
 
BULSARA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m, steadied and shifted out across the heels of WATERWORLD.
