SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
B Wheeler did not attend today’s meeting (stewards), rider replacements as per the meeting summary report.
RACE 1: HALCOL ENERGY MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) 1000 M
EVERYBODY RISE - Bumped when PROBLEMATICAL began awkwardly. Raced wide.
PROBLEMATICAL – Began awkwardly and bumped with EVERYBODY RISE.
RHETORIC - Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
TRAIL BOSS – Became unbalanced when contacted near the 900m by TORQUE TOO EASY. Tired from rounding the home turn. Jockey G. Cartwright reported that TRAIL BOSS may not have handled the synthetic track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SWEET ARMANI – Slow to begin.
POWER MAIDEN – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Near the 800m when over racing was awkwardly placed at the heels of OCEAN ALO which shifted in. Apprentice L. Martyn was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
TORQUE TOO EASY – Bumped TRAIL BOSS near the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance of TORQUE TOO EASY, jockey B. Thomspon reported when placed under pressure it did not respond to his riding and proved disappointing.
RACE 2: HARLEQUIN BLINDS & SECURITY CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1600 M
NOIRE EMPEROR - Slow to begin. Laid out approaching 1400m before being corrected by its rider and then raced keenly for a short distance. When asked to comment on the performance of NOIRE EMPEROR, he stated the gelding may not have handled the synthetic kick back.
VREDEFORT (NZ) – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, apprentice C Sutherland stated that the gelding was unable to muster early speed and when caught wide, restrained to the rear, and in his opinion may appreciate a step up in distance.
CHEERFUL CAT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer J. Moore was issued a $100 fine pursuant to AR106(2) for failing to present CHEERFUL CAT with the correct gear.
RACE 3: TILERS TRADE CENTRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2000 M
LET'S DO IT AGAIN (NZ) - Began awkwardly.
ELEANOR NANCY - When asked to comment on the performance of ELEANOR NANCY, apprentice B. Youngberry stated that the mare raced flat, may not have handled the synthetic track conditions and in her opinion would appreciate a step back in distance.
INSIDE PASSAGE - Laid out under pressure in the some straight.
PAPAL MISS - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the mare raced at Warwick on Tuesday the 28th April 2026 and was cleared to start.
RACE 4: REVIVE FINANCIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M
TURN UP THE MUSIC – Apprentice R. Thorburn reported that TURN UP THE MUSIC may have been galloped on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CAPIANA – Steadied near the 800m when placed on the heels of JUNGLE FEVER which shifted in slightly.
TIME TO CRY – Near the 300m was obliged to be steadied when bumped by REVITUP CHARLIE which shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring HEAVENLY AZ. Jockey K. Zechner was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
REVITUP CHARLIE - Slow to begin.
HEAVENLY AZ – Raced wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ASTERN VILLA – Slow to begin. Stewards questioned apprentice K. Johnston in the presence of her master and trainer J Johnston. Apprentice K. Johnston explained that ASTERN VILLA was expected to settle further back in the field. Trainer J Johnston added that the gelding is a horse that appreciates distances further than that of today’s event, however, was not surprised to see the gelding running on. Stewards when considering the tactics adopted by apprentice K. Johnston, were of the opinion that she erred by not applying more pressure to her mount in the early part of the home straight and she was further reminded of her obligations to ensure she fully tests her mounts through the line. Stewards when considering apprentice K Johnstons riding experience noted the circumstances.
RACE 5: GOWAN LEA TIMBERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400 M
FULL STRENGTH – Improved onto heels and shifted in near the 250m, in attempt to secure clear running.
WHAT DID YOU SAY –Trainer J. Moore advised stewards that WHAT DID YOU SAY would attempt to lead. Ridden accordingly.
NORTH CHANNEL - Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
ROXSET – Obliged to steady and shift out when FULL STRENGTH shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice S. Tierney was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
ROARING SUCCESS – Held up approaching the home turn.
THE PUBLICAN – Raced wide.
Following this race, J Bayliss was assessed by the club paramedic after complaining of cramps, and was cleared to fulfill his remaining engagement.
RACE 6: THANK YOU MARY HENZELL MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) 1400 M
BEST EAGLE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Jockey B. Thornton could offer no explanation for BEST EAGLE’s performance in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding cast its near fore plate and was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer B Hull was advised BEST EAGLE would require a veterinary clearance prior to accepting for a future jump out, trial or race.
CLENCH (NZ) – Hampered and lost ground when bumped by WATCHYA LANGUAGE which began awkwardly shifted out. Raced wide majority.
ABLESHEEBA – Raced wide majority.
RISE AND RESIST – Over raced in the middle stages.
WATCHYA LANGUAGE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CLENCH. Over raced in the middle stages and near the 800m was steadied from heels. Apprentice C Sutherland reported his mount was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
