Race 1: Office National Caloundra Maiden H'cap – 1600m
HAPPY NEWS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
GUNSMOKE – Shifted out when overracing near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
ALL TOO REAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
SPEEDSHOW – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn behind the tiring Happy News. Inquiry into disappointing performance. Rider T. Harrison stated that, in her opinion, the gelding did not run out the mile distance and would be better suited stepping back in distance. She added that she recommended to connections to have blinkers placed back on the horse. Trainer N. Doyle expressed his disappointment with the performance and advised he would have blood tests taken from the horse, the results of which he would report back to stewards. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 2: Office National Caloundra Maiden H'cap – 1600m
GOWAN BRAE – Began very awkwardly, resulting in the jockey making heavy contact with the barrier partition. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
KOBI CREEK – Hampered at the start.
BILLESSE – Hampered at the start.
COLD BLOODED – Hampered at the start.
MISS TRISTY – Held up rounding the home turn.
EMPRESS EUGENIE – Held up rounding the home turn.
SOUTHERN CAPTAIN – Raced wide throughout.
GRAND BATTLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 3: Office National Furniture Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
HEART SMART – Slow to begin.
SMALL TALK – Raced wide throughout.
MONOCHROME – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of thumps following the event.
Race 4: Office National-Delivering Value QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m
EVERYDAY HERO – Trainer A. Williamson was fined $100 for the late gear change of the addition of a Norton bit.
AEROJET – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.
KING DRABADORE – Slow to begin. Rider L. Tarrant reported to stewards that, in his opinion, the gelding felt sore in front. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer T. Thomas was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for the horse prior to its next race start.
LADY BEE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
MAGIC SQUARE – Held up from the 400m until the 300m.
STITCHEN TIME – Shifted in abruptly near the 300m and had to be steadied. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance of the horse, rider T. Bell stated that after travelling 3 deep for the majority of the race the filly raced greenly, and after applying the whip near the 300m his mount shifted in abruptly and had to be steadied to avoid heels. He added that he advised connections that a step up in distance may benefit the filly in future starts. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 5: Office National Stationery H'cap – 1600m
Following any further submissions, trainer M. Brosnan will be fined $100 for the late declaration of rider for War Ends.
FRETON – Slow to begin.
MODERN AL – Slow to begin.
BUAKAW – Inclined to lay in for the majority of the home straight. Rider apprentice G. Goold was fined $300 for using his whip in the vicinity of his mount’s head.
Race 6: Pens & Pencils From Office National Maiden Plate – 1200m
Whilst noting trainer J. McLachlan’s explanation stewards however imposed a fine of $100 for failing declare riders for Manhattan Flyer, Easy Alpha (Race 7) and Scrap Copper (Race 7).
GYPSY GOLD – Began awkwardly, losing ground. Raced greenly throughout.
GREY OPINION – Slow to begin.
LOST THIEF – Commenced to overrace when the pace steadied near the 700m and had to be checked by its rider to avoid heels.
STAROCITY – Inconvenienced near the 700m. Held up for a short distance leaving the 400m and then near the 150m was disappointed for a run and obliged to alter course back to the inside to obtain clear running.
MISS WAR TRACE – Held up rounding the home turn.
ZARFASTAR – Held up rounding the home turn.
QABLA – Had to be steadied upon entering the home straight.
GROBBELAAR – Inclined to lay in for the majority of the home straight.
CELESTIAL GODDESS – Raced 3 wide without cover.
YARD GLASS – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities other than the colt had lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 7: Pens & Pencils from Office National Maiden Plate – 1200m
MR SEDUCTION – Stewards permitted the horse to race without a bit lifter. Trainer T. White was fined $100 for the late gear change.
ZOUAVES – Apprentice S. Fawke pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in shortly after the start, which resulted in Umgeni and Locomotion being tightened for room and having to be checked from heels and lose their position. S. Fawke was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 11 January and to expire at midnight, 23 January 2015.
UMGENI – Checked shortly after the start.
LOCOMOTION – Checked shortly after the start. Stewards questioned rider D. Griffin regarding the tactics adopted in the home straight. He stated he had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the straight and at a point near the 200m he was obliged to shift back to the inside in an attempt to obtain clear running, however was again held up for clear running and as a result went to the line without fully testing his mount. Stewards noted his comments.
Race 8: Office National Whiteboards Class 1 H'cap – 1400m
URBAN MENACE – Trainer W. Sutton was reprimanded for failing to advise the gear change of bar plates off for the horse.
LEROY’S LUCK – The start was delayed when rider T. Bell was struck in the head by the horse, which was fractious in the gates. Jockey Bell advised he did not require the attention of the ambulance officers.
BORN TO RUN EASY – Slow to begin.
SKAZIA – Commenced to overrace near the 1000m and shifted out, bumping another runner.
WORLD SERIES – Bumped near the 1000m and raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
BALDY HOST – Overraced for a short distance leaving the 1000m.
Race 9. Stationery From Office National Class 1 H'cap – 1400m
FAIRYTALE BELLE – Began awkwardly, losing significant ground.
DELNIELLO – Slow to begin.
BERGDORF – Jockey T. Bell was afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance of the horse. He stated that after travelling well in the early and middle stages of the race the filly failed to respond to his riding from the 400m and proved disappointing. He added that he advised connections the horse may be better suited by being ridden more conservatively in an endeavour to finish its races off. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off hind pastern and a poor post-race recovery. A swab sample was taken.
Race 10: Office National Caloundra Class 4 H'cap – 1200m
LITTLE ELVIS – Fractious in the barriers. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Raced 3 wide throughout.
DEVINE SERVICE – Slow to begin.
