Race 5: Mets On Kings Caloundra Surf Club Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1600m

THAT’LLBGOOD – Trainer P. Duncan was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

On return to scale protest was lodged by A. Allen, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Hard Ticker, against FAST ARROW being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, stewards were of the opinion that inside the final 100m Fast Arrow shifted out and made contact with Hard Ticker, and over the final 50m, Fast Arrow continued to shift out under pressure and forced Hard Ticker wider. Given the nose margin stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered in this incident warranted a reversal of the placings and the protest was subsequently upheld, and the Judge’s placings amended to read: No. 9 – Hard Ticker – 1st No.3 – Fast Arrow – 2nd No. 5 – Markout – 3rd No. 11 – Valerie D’Amour – 4th

CENT TO BE GOOD – Rider S. Galloway reported his mount failed to handle the rain affected conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which raced wide, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
