Race 1: HMR Projects Pty Ltd Maiden Plate – 1800m
ROSS RIVER – Slow to begin.
LARABEE – Held up rounding the home turn and for a short distance in the home straight.
JOSHUA’S MIGHT – Apprentice M. McGillivray was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m..
Race 2: Happy 70th Birchday Lauder QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m
POETIC SAGA – Significantly slow to begin.
CHOITIER – Jumped away awkwardly.
IN BAVARIA – Severely tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground.
JERRYVIL – Inconvenienced and lost ground on jumping away.
FRANLYLE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
BALAKLAVA – Overraced when attempting to be steadied passing the 800m. Hampered by another runner near the 500m and forced wider.
EEJAY STYLE – Obliged to steadied from heels near the 800m and shifted wider on the track, and then obliged to race 3 wide without cover from that point onwards.
NAZAR ROYALE – Hung out from 700m. Trainer P. Duff was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse.
IN BAVARIA – Disappointed for a run near the 300m, had to be steadied and shifted out to secure clear running. Again inconvenienced between runners near the 200m and had to be checked whilst weakening. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey D. Griffin indicated that after being interfered with in the early stages of the home straight, the gelding raced greenly and weakened from that point onwards, and he could offer no further comments. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
ZOE BAY – Weakened from the 300m. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance of the horse, jockey T. Harrison indicated that the horse travelled well until leaving the 400m and then commenced to race greenly and did not respond to her riding over the final 300m. She indicated that when returning to scale the stablehand handling the horse indicated that the filly appeared to have its tongue over the bit and this could have caused the poor performance over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Mair indicated that the distance of today’s event may not have been suitable for the filly at this stage of its preparation and in light of today’s performance he would consider trialling the horse before its next race start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 3: Coca Cola QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1200m
FURTHERMORE – Steadied near the 900m when tightened for room. J. Lloyd, rider of King Of The Castle, was reprimanded for this incident.
HIDDEN BELLS – Steadied from heels leaving the 900m when the pace slackened. A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to both hind legs consistent with being galloped on.
ENSIGN – Steadied to avoid heels when the pace slackened leaving the 900m, and then continued to overrace until approaching the 600m.
SELL AND REPENT – Raced wide from the 700m.
WULFIES LADY – Laid in and away from another runner when under pressure in the home straight.
OLD SMOKEY – Raced wide throughout.
SAMMY SPARROW – Raced without cover.
Race 4: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Maiden Plate – 1300m
COURT CAFÉ – Shifted in at the start and made contact with another runner. Raced wide.
DANZER GIRL – Inconvenienced on jumping away.
STRIKING WARRIOR – After being slow to begin was tightened for room and lost ground.
BIGMORDRIVE – Raced wide until the 600m.
GREY ROCK – Inconvenienced when disappointed for a run near the 400m. Rider dropped his whip near the 100m.
CANONGATE – Shortly after entering the home straight was obliged to alter course to secure clear running.
LEGALLY COOL – Raced wide without cover.
MANDAROSSO – Raced wide.
Race 5: 7 Sunshine Coast Local News Class 5 H'cap – 1800m
QUICK SPUR – Trainer B. Gill was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.
PLUGGER – Overraced near the 1600m and shifted wider on the track before being permitted to stride forward to the lead at a point leaving the 1200m and continued to overrace for some distance approaching the 800m.
RUN ROYAL RUN – Jockey J. Lloyd was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that leaving the 400m he directed his mount outwards, which resulted in his mount making contact with the horse racing directly to his outside, Utmost Faith, , which was turned sideways, forcing that horse out on to Tigerish, which in turn was forced out on to One Last Whiff, which in turn was taken out on to Miss Husson, resulting in Miss Husson clipping the heels of One Last Whiff and blundering. Jockey Lloyd was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 March, and to expire at midnight, 27 March.

BROTHER LOVE – Jockey R. McMahon was fined $200 for returning to scale overweight.
Race 6: Racezone National Apprentices Series Class 3 Plate – 1400m
FAYEZ – Slow to begin.
GET ON DOWN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
ENVIRONMENTAL – Slow to begin.
GOOD JOB BRO – Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 300m.
ZETTFIDAA - Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
NARSONS DUKE - Hung out from the 800m and raced wide and took no competitive part in the race from the 400m. A post race veterinary examination of failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards will interview trainer D. Hansen regarding today’s performance.
SNITZIOLA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
BIRDIE BLITZ – Raced wide throughout.
RIDEONABIGJETPANE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: XXXX Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1200m
GO DIGGER – Kicked the back gates after being loaded into the barriers and suffered a laceration to the near hind leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching by stewards at 3.29 pm with the following deductions applicable to applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 3.29 pm:
3 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #8
SP bets are subject to deductions.
ROYAL OCCASION – Slow to begin.
GOTITALLWRONG – Improved onto heels near the 150m and had to be steadied before shifting wider to secure clear running.
PULSAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CHEAPSKATER – Stewards questioned rider D. Browne regarding the tactics adopted on the horse, which led in today’s event, which was in contrast to its established racing pattern. He stated he had been instructed to be positive out of the barriers and it was not his intention to lead, however after travelling a short distance he was going to be caught wide and elected to stride forward and take up the lead passing the 900m. Trainer S. Kendrick confirmed the instructions and indicated to stewards that as this was his first start with the horse, no notification to stewards was required and in the circumstances did not feel there was any change in tactics. Stewards advised Mr Kendrick that in similar circumstances he would be required to approach stewards to discuss the tactics.
Race 8: Coastline BMW Open H'cap – 1000m
THEFT – Steadied leaving the 600m when forced to race in restricted room.
LUCKY METEOR – Raced wide without cover.
GOJO MIMO – Trainer B. Herne reported on return to scale the gelding had its tongue over the bit and believed this had caused the horse to choke down. He also added he would now experiment with the addition of a tongue-tie to the horse’s gear. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened badly in the home straight and finished a distance last, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. A. swab sample was taken.
Race 9: Yalumba Wines Class 3 Plate – 1000m
ROSENET – As apprentice M. McGuren was stood down by the club’s doctor, stewards permitted B. Grylls to be substituted as the rider.
GUN CASE – When asked to comment on the performance of the horse, G. Colless stated that when entering the home straight the horse was travelling well and he was confident in the way the horse was letting down, however approaching the 200m, the horse did not quicken as anticipated and he could not offer any explanation other than to say that as the gelding was having its first run back from a spell, its condition may have given out over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination of failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
TONGUE OF FIRE – Rider T. Harrison reported her mount was breathing abnormally during the event. Stewards will interview trainer M. Mair in the coming days regarding this matter. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
