Jockey Ric McMahon was fined $300 for failing to fulfil engagements.



Race 1: Montrose F&M Class 6 H'cap – 1400m

GET ON – Raced wide after passing the 800m.

ELUSIVE CATCH – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

HOT AUGUSTA – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Checked near the 1000m.

REVACIOUS – Jockey M. Hellyer advised that his mount hung out throughout the race.

GALLINARI – Apprentice B. Grylls pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1000m she allowed her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ATHENA FIRE, resulting in that horse being tightened for room and forced in onto the rightful running of HOT AUGUSTA, resulting in HOT AUGUSTA being tightened onto the hind quarters of CRUZ BY, causing HOT AUGUSTA to be checked and lose its rightful running. B. Grylls was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 11 July and to expire at midnight, 24 July.

Lost its near fore plate in running.

ATHENA FIRE – Checked near 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.


Race 2: Rent To Own Cars QTIS 2YO H'cap – 1400m

GENERATE – As G. Colless was to be overweight, P. King was substituted as the rider of the horse. G. Colless was fined $200. Raced greenly in the early stages of the race and shifted out, inconveniencing another runner and raced greenly in the home straight, causing interference to another runner whilst weakening. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slower than normal post race recovery. A warning was placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.

WICKED INVESTMENT – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

CAPITANEAR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner, and then shifted in and made contact with another runner.

HALLS CREEK – Inconvenienced near the 1300m by another runner and had to be restrained.

KUTTAMURRA AL – Inconvenienced after passing the 250m and again tightened for room near the 150m and had to be steadied.

HONESTA – Tightened for room approaching the 200m and had to be steadied. Raced wide.

SUPREME JET – Tightened for room approaching the 100m and had to be steadied.

STELLA GRIS – Raced wide without cover.

SHOTACROSS THE BOW – Raced wide.


Race 3: Troy Trevitt Homes Open H'cap – 1600m

EPIC – Raced wide in the early stages and was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field. Jockey G. Colless reported that he was very disappointed in the horse’s finishing effort and could offer no excuse for the performance.

TRAKSTAR – Forced wider passing the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards. Jockey T. Bell was reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten his mount over the concluding stages.

ADDICTIVE HABIT – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

AVALANCHES - Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.


Race 4: Campaign Group Open H'cap – 1200m

No racing incidents.


Race 5: Steve Venn Century 21 Coastal C,G&E Class 6 H'cap – 1400m

LUCKY LUCRE – Slow to begin. (2 lengths). Shifted out away from heels near the 300m and made contact with another runner.

CARMORA – Shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with another runner near the 400m.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN – Hampered by another runner passing the 400m.

ALLKNIGHT SAINT – Hampered by another runner passing the 400m.

L’ENTRECOTE – Held up for some distance in the early stages of the straight.


Race 6: Hutchinson Builders Queensland Cup – 3200m

BARGE AND CHARGE – Jockey G. Colless reported that his mount hung out throughout the race.

HUSSON CHOICE – A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the near fore bumper. Trainer D. Vandyke indicated the horse would now be sent for a spell.

LOVETHEBEACHES – A post race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the near fore suspensory and an abrasion on the near fore bumper, soreness in the off fore fetlock. Trainer S. Hodge indicated the horse would now be spelled.

MONACO DELL – A post race veterinary examination revealed slight soreness in the near fore fetlock and abrasions to both hind bumpers.


Race 7: White’s IGA QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m

DENARIUS – Lunged forward in the barriers prior to the start being effected. The horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Had to be checked and clipped the heels of another runner near the 700m. Held up rounding the home turn.

MAKINI LOVE – Jumped away awkwardly.

LITTLE FIGHTER – Obliged to race in restricted room from the 600m until leaving the 500m.

WICKED TEMPTATION – Obliged to race in restricted room from leaving the 550m until near the 450m.

LUSH BELL – Had to be steadied and lost ground when placed in restricted room between runners near the 750m. In this incident, J. Taylor, rider of LITTLE FIGHTER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Held up rounding the home turn and had some difficulty securing clear running over the final 200m.

BEAU JET – Obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running. Jockey T. Bell reported his mount lost a near-side front shoe.


Race 8: Karalee Park Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1000m

This race started approximately 3 minutes late.

NICKIERA – Trainer T. Thomas was fined $200 for failing to notify B. Grylls as the rider of the horse by the prescribed time.

HLUDOWIG – Slow to begin.

MY BLING – Jumped away awkwardly.

SINGLE MELODY – Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 800m. A. Spinks, rider of EXPLORE THE WORLD, was reprimanded for shifting in when not sufficiently clear.

EXPLORE THE WORLD raced wide for the majority of the race.

PATAPINDA – Improved into a position near the 500m where there was restricted room and was then obliged to check shortly after to avoid heels.

STAY SCHTUM – Apprentice A .Fancourt reported at scale her mount hung in throughout the race.

NICKIERA – Hung out after passing the 600m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

TRICKY ROCKET - Stewards afforded jockey M. McGuren the opportunity to comment on the performance. He stated that after beginning well he was caught wide for the majority of the race and therefore was not entirely disappointed with the gelding’s performance.

TIME TO EXCEED – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice R. Ride indicated that the horse did not muster sufficient speed to take up a forward position, as is its normal racing pattern. She added however the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages and was quite pleased with its overall performance.
