SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From SCTC 15.11.15 – Race 6 (FLYING SAND): Trainer J. Zielke reported that after its last start he noted that FLYING SAND had a nasal condition, which may have affected its performance, and subsequent blood tests revealed an elevated white cell count. He advised that he would have further blood tests carried out and provide the results to stewards.
Race 1: MILLS PLUMBING MAIDEN H'CAP – 1600M
BIGMORDRIVE – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages and then improved forward at the 800m to obtain the lead. When questioned regarding his riding instructions today, L. Londregan advised that he was told to lead if possible and after initially trying to take a sit when caught wide, he was unable to obtain a position with cover so he therefore allowed the gelding to stride forward. He added that being its first run with blinkers back on, the horse raced a little keenly so he elected not to restrain the gelding but allow it to stride along at a comfortable pace in the lead. He was of the opinion that being caught wide in the early stages and having to do additional work may have had an effect on the gelding’s finishing effort. Stewards noted his explanation.
MYSTERIUM – Bumped approaching the 100m.
MOMENT OF SILENCE – Inclined to lay in in the early part of the home straight.
BIG BAMBOO – Shifted out approaching the 100m and bumped another runner.
PADLOT – Slow into stride.
ENEMY’S DEFEATED – Slow to begin. Apprentice J. Orman was fined $200 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 2: CLARK’S GARAGE QTIS 3YO FILLIES H’CAP – 1000M
ONE STANDOUT – Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the filly had dislodged a tooth.
BLAIREAU EAGLE – Slow to begin.
FLIGHT OF ANGELS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LOST VIRTUE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.
Race 3: CONVEYANCING SERVICES QTIS 3YO C&G H’CAP – 1000M
RED SELENIUM – Rider D. Griffin reported that the horse tired over the concluding stages, which may have been as a result of it getting its tongue over the bit. Stewards ordered that a veterinary examination be conducted on the colt, however this was unable to be carried out as the horse had left the course. Trainer J. McLachlan was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his runners remain on course for the prescribed period following an event. Mr McLachlan indicated that he may experiment with the addition of a tongue tie to the horse’s gear at its next start.
WICKED INVESTMENT – Had to steady off heels approaching the 400m.
ALL THE CREDIT – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with another runner. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Trainer G. Heinrich’s stable representative reported that the horse, which was resuming from a spell after being gelded, had trialled well with the addition of blinkers and he believed these factors had contributed to its improved performance today.
ZOU DER ZEE – Bumped at the start.
Race 4: DJF AUTO SERVICES CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M
MARC’S DIESEL – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
MAGIC BABE NING – Brushed its offside hip on the fence when entering the mounting yard, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

RAYS ARE LUCKY – Eased over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
EIGHT BELOW – Slow into stride.
Race 6: SHIPLEY SMASH REPAIRS BM75 H’CAP – 1600M
After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, J. Byrne, the rider of RISING LUCK, placed 2nd by the judge, lodged an objection against THE ILIAD being declared the winner, alleging that jockey G. Ryan had used an excessive amount of whip on the winner, that being three strikes more than permitted under the rules in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. After viewing the videos and taking evidence from all parties, stewards found that although jockey Ryan had used the whip in a forehand manner on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, they could not be comfortably satisfied that such breach was sufficient to warrant a reversal of placings, bearing in mind the margin separating both runners at the finish. At a subsequent inquiry G. Ryan was fined $300 for contravening AR.137A(5)(a)(ii).
KISS ME DEADLY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride and as a result raced further back in the field than its customary racing pattern.

CHARCUTERIE – Tightened for room near the 500m. Shifted out approaching the 300m and bumped another runner.
