On return to scale A. Allen, rider of the 4th placegetter, BANDA SPICE, wished to view the video to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against REAL GOOD being declared the 3rd alleging interference over the final 300m. A. Allen then lodged his objection. On the evidence it was established that near that point REAL GOOD shifted out slightly and in doing so brushed BANDA SPICE. Stewards conceded there was contact however were of the view that any interference suffered by BANDA SPICE was insufficient to alter the Judge’s placings.
During the protest hearing, J. Lloyd, rider of the 2nd placegetter, MR EPIC, expressed a desire to lodge a protest against MIRI MIRI being declared the winner in that its rider, T. Harrison, may have raised her arm above shoulder height, which in his opinion, could constitute improper use of the whip. Whilst stewards agreed on review of the film that her whip action may have been in breach of AR137A(4), they did not believe that this affected the placings and, in their opinion, this alleged breach did not constitute improper use of the whip and therefore his protest was dismissed. Subsequently, T. Harrison was reprimanded for raising her whip arm above shoulder height over the concluding stages.
