Race 2: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 90 H'CAP – 2200M

ENDLESS DAYS was a late scratching at 8:30 am on vet advice and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

POPULIST – Apprentice C. Bayliss was asked to comment on the tactics adopted which resulted in his mount leading, which is not the horse’s established racing pattern. He stated that it had not been his intention to lead and he had anticipated QUALITY SEEKER taking up the lead, which would have afforded him cover. However, in the early stages QUALITY SEEKER steadied and took up a position trailing his mount. He attempted to restrain his mount in the early stages, however the horse overraced and when unable to be restrained was permitted to stride forward and assume the lead on the fence after passing the 1200m. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered.

BROCSON – Due to the slow pace being set in the early stages, the horse overraced and as a result shifted wider near the 1000m to improve in an attempt to obtain a position outside the lead, however, was unable to do so and was obliged to race three wide for the remainder.

He felt that the horse was still travelling comfortably approaching the 300m, however, when asked for an effort failed to respond. He added that the horse also laid in under pressure in the home straight.

DZSENIFER – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

Race 4: PARKLANDS TAVERN BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 1400M

Thornton, the rider of SO YOU SHOP, had attempted a doubtful run to the inside of THE SINNER, which at the same time had commenced to shift in.
