GENERAL
 
As J Bayliss was suspended, riding changes were made as per the race day summary sheet.
 
Race 1: SMS FINANCE Class 4 Handicap 1600 metres
 
DON'T WAIVER – Rider M Rodd was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
SMART METEOR – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping WILD MOON. Shifted out near the 250 metres to obtain clear running and bumped WILLIAM.
 
TWINSPIER (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
WILD MOON (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was fined $300 for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
WILLIAM – Bumped leaving the 250 metres.
 
CALL ME LEGEND – Slow to begin.
 
SKY ONE – Rider A Spinks was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
Race 2: SUTTON CONSTRUCTIONS Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
MOUNT HIMMLER – Re-saddled prior to being loaded into the barriers. Raced greenly throughout. Slow to begin.
 
ORDERS – Raced greenly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
 
SACRED ZIM – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MARMION – Fractious during preliminary and reluctant to proceed to barriers. Trainer S Parsons was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings pre-race manners. MARMION underwent a pre-race veterinary examination prior to being loaded into the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
PRICKLY TICK – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
Race 3: LIEBKE BUILDERS Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
MAIL TRAIN MAID – Between the 600 metres and 400 metres raced with its head in the air when racing tightly to the inside of CALL ME MAGGIE
 
CLEAR MOTIVE – Raced three wide without cover throughout
 
EASY RUBY – Obliged to steady from heels near 600 metres when CALATHIEL shifted in. T Brooker, rider of CALATHIEL, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
TEMUJIN LASS – Re-saddled prior to being loaded into the barriers.
 
CALL ME MAGGIE - Re-saddled prior to being loaded into the barriers.
 
QUEEN SAFARI – Re-saddled prior to being loaded into the barriers. Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: SHERRIN RENTAL Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres
 
RABBIT HUNTER – As was 12 years of age and had not raced for over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
KATY'S DAUGHTER – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HEADSPACE – Rider M Rodd reported the saddle on the gelding slipped back on jumping. A short distance after the start HEADSPACE appeared to lock up in the nearside stifle and thereafter took no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination of HEADSPACE revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken. Trainer M Currie was advised the gelding must trial before its next race start.
 
CORDONED – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: CAMPBELL CONSTRUCTIONS CO. Fillies and Mares Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
CHIVARGO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
GLOBAL CHOICE – Over-raced approaching the 900 metres.
 
LOVE PUZZLE – Had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the event, resulting in rider A Spinks taking preventative measures to correct the mare between the 500 metres and the 300 metres.
 
MALEEKA BLUES (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: PROMO GEAR BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BUCKLE UP BABY – Slow to begin.
 
HEARTS DENIED – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Obliged to steady from heels near the 1200 metres when over-racing.
 
ROYAL SHEEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout. L Cassidy, rider of ROYAL SHEEN, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
REDSTONE – T Brooker, rider of REDSTONE, was fined $300 for use of the whip 15 times in total, one more than permitted.
 
NICKS – Slow to begin. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was fined $400 for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
UNRESOLVED (NZ) – Trainer M Currie was fined $200 for the late declaration of rider on that gelding. Over-raced in the early stages.
