SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
As S Galloway and R Palmer were injured and L Tilley was not attending the meeting for acceptable reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards race day Summary Sheet.
 
Race 1: KERRY'S KORNER SHOP Two-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate Set W 1000 metres
 
CRACK OF DOOM – Slow to begin.
 
GREY DEFENCE – Rider reported the gelding was inclined to race greenly throughout the event.
 
MISHANI OPERATOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
 
Race 2: ADAMS + SPARKES TOWN PLANNING Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate Set We 1000 metres
 
LAYLA'S SONG – After being loaded into the barriers, reared and became cast. Subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:56pm on veterinary advice.
 
On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on LAYLA’S SONG be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st ANGEL LIKE - 2c win, 4c place
2nd NOT ANOTHER - 4c place
3rd TOP BIRD - 6c place
 
Representative for Trainer H Norman was advised LAYLA’S SONG would require a further barrier certificate and a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. As a result, the start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes.
 
ANGEL LIKE – Inconvenienced on jumping. Near the 150 metres became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by TOP BIRD.
 
APPLE TART – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI ESPRIT – Inconvenienced on jumping.
 
MISHANI UNTAMED – Tightened for room on jumping.
 
OUR GAIN – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
OUTGOING – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SUTTO'S GAL – Began awkwardly. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
TOP BIRD – Near the 150 metres shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of ANGEL LIKE. Rider reported the filly was inclined to lay out in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: MALT SHOVEL TAPHOUSE Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200 metre
 
After being loaded into the barriers MISHANI CONMAM became fractious, kicked out with its hind leg before rearing resulting in its front leg making heavy contact with the front barrier partition and forcing the gate open and galloping some distance before being restrained. Subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:44pm on veterinary advice.
 
On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MISHANI CONMAN be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st MARTINA - 48c win, 26c place
2nd DIS GO BOOM - 28c place
3rd WHO SHOT MAGGIE - 28c place
 
Trainer L Ross was advised MISHANI CONMAN would require a further barrier certificate and a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. As a result, the start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes.
 
DIS GO BOOM – Slow to begin. When obliged to race in restricted room leaving the 300 metres, laid in and became awkward.
 
GROOMED – Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping.
 
STEALTH FLYER – Weakened over the concluding stages after racing three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
WHO SHOT MAGGIE – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped heavily with MARTINA. Over-raced from the 1000 metres until near the 800 metres.
 
ELOQUENTLY – Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping. Following the event rider A Allen was dislodged returning to the enclosure. A Allen was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill remaining engagements. When asked to comment on the performance, A Allen stated from the wide barrier draw he elected to restrain in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail, adding that ELOQUENTLY did not travel for the majority of the event and raced greenly throughout. A Allen further stated that he pressured the filly from the 600 metres, however failed to respond to his riding until near the 200 metres and that ELOQUENTLY was doing its best work over the concluding stages. Furthermore, he was of the view that the filly would be suited in races over a longer distance than that of today’s event. 
 
KEEN AS A BEAN – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MARTINA – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: COAST 2 COAST EARTHMOVING Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200 metres
 
AWARD KNIGHT – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.
 
ASLLANI – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels near the 800 metres. When asked to comment on the filly’s performance rider K Wilson-Taylor stated he was obliged to settle one pair further back than anticipated from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. He added ASLLANI was not suited by the soft track conditions and overall was satisfied with the manner the horse finished the race off.
 
LADY FLORA – Shifted out abruptly at the start. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI WHISPER – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. J Lloyd, rider of MISHANI WHISPER, was fined $300 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
 
Race 5: SEA VISTA DEVELOPMENTS Class 4 Plate 1400 metres
 
FOREIGN TERRITORY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
MINOAN SPIRIT – After leading the event weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mild laceration to the near hind leg and a slow post-race recovery. Trainer W Kuskopf was advised a warning would be placed on the horse for a poor performance.
 
SPARTAN JET – Slow to begin.
 
DER SIEGER – Improved onto the heels of MINOAN SPIRIT near the 400 metres and had to be severely checked.
 
SNIPPETSPEED – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING (NZ) – After passing the 600 metres obliged to steady and shift wider to avoid the weakening MINOAN SPIRIT.
 
 
Race 6: DOUBLE R THOROUGHBREDS Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
KRAMERIC – Slow to begin. R Fradd, rider of KRAMERIC, was fined $500 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted.

LOUD NOISE – Raced three wide until near the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
MASO – Declared a late scratching at 4:25pm when the gelding became fractious leaving the enclosure, dislodging rider K Wilson-Taylor, and was consequently unable to be re-mounted.
 
On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MASO be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st KRAMERIC - 12c win,11 c place
2nd FAVOURITE THINGS - 13c place
3rd QUEEN LAGERTHA - 13c place
 
Trainer G Duncan was advised MASO must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. As a result, the start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes. 

LOVEISABATTLEFIELD – Obliged to alter course inside the 100 metres to obtain clear running. 
 
TAKE TWO – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers resulting in the start being delayed. Trainer M Lakey was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
 
WEWANDA – Steadied from heels near the 1100 metres when LOVEISABATTLEFIELD shifted inwards when not fully clear. G Cartwright, rider of LOVEISABATTLEFIELD, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessness.
 
BELUSHI – Lost near fore plate in the saddling enclosure. As was unable to be re-fitted, Stewards permitted the gelding to race without the plate. Slow to begin.

MORE THAN VALUE – Slow to begin.

 
Race 7: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL, DATA & AIRCONDITIONING - CALOUNDRA Class 2 Plate 1600 metres
 
CAIRNDOW – J Bayliss, rider of CAIRNDOW, was fined $500 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
DEEP SCEIVA – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
 
TICINO BELLE – K Wilson-Taylor, rider of TICINO BELLE, was fined $500 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
 

 
Race 8: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BM65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BOFORS – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

IN GREAT NIC – Slow to begin.
 
SHADYVALE STAR – M Wishart, rider of SHADYVALE STAR, was fined $600 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted.
 
SHE'S RUBICOOL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Trainer D Batters was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
PRINCESS CAVALLO – W Peel, rider of PRINCESS CAVALLO, was fined $300 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted.

CHIAKI – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.

 
Race 9: EASTER SUNDAY RACES Class 2 Plate 1000 metres
 
BIRKIN BLACK – Slow to begin. Restrained from heels near 600 metres.
 
WINDSTREAM – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider J Orman stated he had anticipated racing in a forward position, however after being slow to begin he was obliged to steady shortly after the start when placed in restricted room resulting in WINDSTREAM settling at the tail of the field. J Orman added the filly responded moderately in the early stages of the home straight when placed under pressure however was disappointed for a run near the 150 metres and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation of J Orman.

QUEEN OF THE NIGHT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
