GENERAL
 
As L Kilner was unable the meeting due to personal reasons and S Cormack was unable to attend due to injury, replacements were made as per raceday summary. S Cormack was advised he would be required to provide a medical prior to his next engagements.
 
Race 1: LEXON INSURANCE/RUMBLE FINANCE QTIS 3YO MDN PLT– 1800M
 
The starting position of this event was moved forward a short distance when it was established that due to the rail position, the barriers would be situated on a newly installed crossing. This decision was made to reduce the possibility of horses’ slipping on jumping away.
 
FIFTEEN BLACK – Slow to begin. Rider M Cahill reported that his mount laid in for the majority of the event and was unable to tested in the home straight. Trainers representative Mr P Shailer was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding in relation to its racing manners.
 
GIBBED – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. After passing the 200m, was obliged to alter course to avoid heels.
 
KINKUNA – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft (5).
 
 
Race 2: THINK INVESTMENT REALTY QTIS 2YO C1 PLT – 1000M
 
ROYALE RETURN– Raced wide without cover.
 
CRYMENOTEARS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover. Buffeted between runners passing the 600m when obliged to race in restricted room.
 
DUBLIN DE QUO – Raced wide without cover. Inclined to lay in throughout the event particularly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer D Ward was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly in relation to its racing manners.
 
PRETTY SMILES – Slow to begin.
 
SWEET MARGOT MAY – Began very awkwardly making heavy contact with the barrier partition, losing significant ground. As a result of this incident, the knee of T Brooker made heavy contact with the barriers. T Brooker was subsequently examined by the on-course doctor following this event and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
SACCA – Slow to begin. Buffeted between runners passing the 600m when obliged to race in restricted room. Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 3: BDO MDN HCP – 1000M
 
DECADE - Approaching the 900m, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of SERENE AFFAIR and became unbalanced as a result. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SIR EX BE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced and raced greenly in the middle stages.
 
THREE BELLS – Slow to begin.
 
DREAMING JEANIE – Dislodged jockey Cartwright in the mounting yard who was subsequently examined by the on-course doctor and cleared to fulfill her engagements. Slow to begin.
 
SERENE AFFAIR - Approaching the 900m was bumped on the hindquarters by DECADE and became unbalanced as a result.
 
AURORA DANCER (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M Cahill stated that he had been instructed to obtain cover and as a result, was obliged to steady to the rear of the field to obtain a position closer to the fence. He stated that the filly raced greenly in the home straight and was forced wider when REGAL EYES shifted ground. He further added that as the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages, it was his opinion that the horse would appreciate a step up in distance.
 
SHE MAKES ME HAPPY – After passing the 400m, improved onto heels of the weakening THREE BELLS and was obliged to alter course to continue into clear running. Raced greenly throughout.
 
REGAL EYES - Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
WORDS UNSPOKEN – On arrival to the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider. An examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg and was declared a late scratching at 3.56pm.
 
Subsequent to the event, all wagers invested on WORDS UNSPOKEN were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable
 
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Trainer G J Taylor was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the mare starting again.
 
JOLLO – Raced wide without cover.
 
Following this event, T Brooker was again examined by the on-course doctor and was stood down from her remaining engagements. She was advised that a medical would be required prior to her next engagements.
 
Race 4: OZLAND GROUP SOLUTIONS BM72 HCP – 1800M
 
The starting position of this event was moved forward a short distance when it was established that due to the rail position, the barriers would be situated on a newly installed crossing. This decision was made to reduce the possibility of horses’ slipping on jumping away.
 
FORT WAYNE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
MISSED THE ALARM (NZ) – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide from the 800m. Rider B Nothdurft reported that his mount wasn’t suited by the slow tempo of the event.
 
BARITONE (IRE) – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin. When the pace of the event was only steady, when approaching the 1300m was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the lead near the 1000m.
 
RHYME TIME – Overraced in the early stages. Disappointed for a run passing the 300m.
 
VALLEY OF DREAMS – After passing the 200m was restrained from the event when jockey Cassidy became concerned with the horses action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C Munce undertook to report back to stewards on the condition of VALLEY OF DREAMS in the days subsequent. Stewards advised Mr Munce that a veterinary report would be required prior to the horse starting again.
 
MINOR LUCK – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 5: SV PARTNERS MDN HCP - 1400M
 
DOUBLE BARRELL – Slow to begin.
 
ARCARIUS (NZ) - Overraced and improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be checked when the pace slackened.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Overraced and improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be checked when the pace slackened before improving around EASY RUBY a short distance later. As result of this incident, jockey B El-Issa the rider of EASY RUBY was reprimanded under AR131(d) for excessively steading the pace.
 
RIGHT REASON – Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m at which point was disappointed for a run and had to be checked.
 
KAKATIYA – Severely tightened on jumping. Overraced badly when the pace slackened, shifted extremely wide and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Trainer K Roon was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the mare in relation to its racing manners.
 
EPIC LOVE (NZ) – Tightened on jumping and had to be steadied. Overraced and improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be steadied when the pace slackened.
 
THINK SHE'S GOOD (NZ) – Overraced and improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be steadied when the pace slackened.
 
WEONA KARIOI – Jumped awkwardly.
 
CHICAMO – Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200m.
 
KIRSOVA – Raced wide without cover.
 
EASY RUBY – Bumped heavily on jumping. Rider T Wolfgram was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of EASY RUBY approaching the 600m, causing that runner to be tightened for room and lose ground. T Wolfgram’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence on midnight 27th July 2021 and to expire on 4th July 2021. When assessing penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Wolfgrams excellent riding record.
 
SUGARPUSH - Overraced and improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be checked when the pace slackened.
 
Race 6: TREZETTO QTIS 3YO HCP – 1000M
 
INCERTO – Bumped and then tightened shortly after jumping. Shifted out after passing the 500m to secure clear running and in doing so, bumped THE DIAMOND.
 
THE DIAMOND – Bumped and forced wider rounding the home turn.
 
BOOMBRASSTIC – Tightened on jumping losing ground as a result.
 
KEETA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SALBRIS – Shifted out on jumping contacting INCERTO. Raced wide throughout.
 
SINGLE SKIP – Passing the 700m commenced to overrace onto heels and had to be steadied. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore. Trainer M Boland was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.
 
Race 7: FC LAWYERS PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS - HEAT – BM75 HCP – 1200M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, a protest was lodged by S Thornton, rider of the second placegetter DREAMREACHER alledging interference over the concluding stages against the winner L’COSMO (R Maloney). After taking evidence from both riders and Trainer D Van Dyke and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards established that whilst L’COSMO shifted out towards the line of DREAMREACHER, they could not be satisfied that any interference suffered materially affected the placings and subsequently dismissed the objection.
 
BOGEY MAN – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
FASANO – Slow to begin. Steadied to avoid heels near the 850m before shifting wider on the track for a short distance.
 
LADY MELBA (NZ) – Became awkward when placed in restricted room approaching the 400m, whilst weakening. Rider R Fradd reported that his mount didn’t travel at any stage throughout the event
 
RENOUF – As J Orman was unable to make the weight, Stewards permitted R Stewart to replace him as the rider. J Orman was fined $100 under AR190(3). Checked from the heels of LADY MELBA near the 850m and lost ground.
 
AVOWAL – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 8: TRIPLE ZERO PROPERTY C1 HCP – 1600M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 7 minutes when GRENADIERS cast a near fore plate and had to reshod behind the barriers.
 
LUVYOUANYTIME - Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
THRASHER – Jockey R Stewart reported that he would have preferred to settle the filly closer to the lead, however the horse didn’t travel comfortably at any stage of the event and was disappointed with THRASHER’s finishing effort.
 
GRENADIERS– Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SPOTTED WONDER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
