Race 1: MINESET Maiden Handicap 1800 metres
 
ELEGANT DROVER – Raced in restricted room near the 1300m.
 
PETRILLO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Unable to secure running from the 600m until approaching the 300m. Rider J Bayliss was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. (6th Offence)
 
GENTLE PRINCE – Held up for clear running on the home turn.
 
MR DUDWEY – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
CUE TO CONQUER - Raced three wide in the early stages.

PRINENTE – Raced three wide throughout without cover. Cast an off-hind plate during the race.
 
WURNIC – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
HENRY REEF – Slow to begin.
 
PISTOL PACKIN LENA – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to race outside the leader by the 1400m
 
A GLASS OF BUBBLES (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: DWYER COATINGS Class 4 Handicap 1600 metres
 
No racing incidents.
 
 
Race 3: MELBOURNE STORM Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
As FIVE CHERRYS was injured travelling to the course, the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the off foreleg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4.55pm.
 
FASTLING – Improved onto heels passing the 700m, shifted out and bumped HAZ DE BEE. Shifted out to improve rounding the home turn and bumped HAZ DE BEE.
 
CUTHBERTS ANGEL – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant findings.
 
PORT OFFICE – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider J Bayliss stated the gelding did not travel comfortably and failed to quicken when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROWLETT – Slow to begin, held up over the final stages. Rider M Murphy was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. (4th Offence)
 
HAZ DE BEE – Raced three wide without cover throughout, bumped by FASTLING at the 500m, carried wider on the home turn when bumped by FASTLING.
 
DEVIL – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: WIRED ELECTRICAL AND AIR CONDITIONING BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres
 
HOT ESCORT – Over-raced in the early stages and shifted out near the 800m.
 
SIP IT SLOW – Became awkward in its action passing the 500m, unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
DURUNDUR LAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages and passing the 700m had to be restrained from the heels of SIP IT SLOW. Obliged to race in restricted room rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MAGIC LAD – Raced three wide in the early stages and ridden forward to the lead near 800m.
 
Race 5: CALOUNDRA PRODUCE Class 2 Plate 1000 metres
 
BUNDYANDCOKE – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Cast an off-hind plate in the early stages.
 
PHANTOM SPIRIT – Began awkwardly.
 
QUEEN SWEEPER – Hampered at start. Hung out for a major part of the event.
 
Race 6: JAMES ACKERMAN MEMORIAL SUMMER PROVINCIAL SPRINT SERIES - HEAT BENCHMARK 70  Handicap 1000 metres
 
HIDDEN EYES – Hampered at the start.
 
ALL TO DO – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BELLE'S PLUCK – Raced three wide throughout. Apprentice W Peel explained that the gelding did not quicken and in the final stages was not comfortable in its action.
 
REST OF THE WORLD – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from the heels of RED RUBI after travelling a short distance.
 
RED RUBI – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and went to the line not fully tested.
 
KING RAGNAR – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: KENDRICK RACING Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
POOL PONY – Hampered at start.
 
BEAN DREAMIN' – Rider R Maloney reported the mare may have got its tongue over the bit and was making an abnormal respiratory noise in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the respiratory noise. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate together with the results of an endoscopic examination were required prior to the mare racing again.
 
CLEARY ADONIS – When over-racing had to be restrained for some distance from heels, from the 800m until approaching the 600m.
 
MOZART'S RIVAL- Shifted in near 800m.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON  - Jumped awkwardly and shifted in. Had to be restrained from the heels of MOZART’S RIVAL near the 800m. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor (MOZART’S RIVAL) was issued with a reprimand and advised to provide greater clearance when shifting ground in the future.
 
SPOOLING – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: SUNNI MAE MURPHY MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2200 metres
 
SHEBRINGZIT – Slow to begin.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Slow to begin.
 
BIG ANDY - Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. When the pace was steady passing the 1500m, was shifted wider on the track and was ridden forward to the lead at the 1200m, a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MR REDDINGTON – Began awkwardly.
