Race 2: PICKERING BOOKKEEPING & ACCOUNTING SERVICES Maiden
Plate 2200 metres

On returning to scale and after viewing the patrol footage a protest was lodged by R Maloney, rider of second placegetter ENJOUEE, against first past the post TURN ME OVER (J Orman) alleging interference in the home straight from the 300metres. After taking evidence from connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage Stewards found that a point near the 300m ENJOUEE was bumped by TURN ME OVER which shifted out under pressure, with both horses then brushing momentarily near the 150 metres. Bearing in mind where the incident took place, the half neck margin at the finish and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.

CONQUERING DREAMS – As R Wiggins was unable to arrive on course due to an intrastate flight delay, Stewards permitted M Du Plessis to ride the gelding.

ENJOUEE (FR) – Over-raced for a short distance near the 1600m and obliged to steady from the heels of CONQUERING DREAMS. Bumped near the 300m.
