GENERAL
 
As Mark Du Plessis and Andrew Spinks were ill and Madeleine Wishart and Lani Allen were both delayed arriving on course due to traffic issues, riding changes were made as per the race Day summary sheet.
Mark Du Plessis and Andrew Spinks will both require medical clearances prior to their next race ride.
 
MISHANI PERSUASION was declared a late scratching at 12:17pm after being delayed arriving on course due to traffic issues.
 
ENUNCIATION was declared a late scratching from Race 7 by order of Stewards at 8:38am. Trainer K Schweida was fined $200 under LR68(1).
 
 
Race 1: COASTLINE BMW X1 QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
DEALING'S DONE – Apprentice J Lloyd reported the horse, from the wide barrier, settled further back in the field than anticipated, adding that the slow early tempo did not suit DEALING’S DONE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than a slow post-race recovery.
 
BUSTING – Jumped in at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight and as a result near the 200m bumped with MENARI MAGIC.
 
DIANA'S AFFAIR – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MENARI MAGIC – After being fractious in the saddling enclosure and kicking out contacting an outside rail, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Near the 200m bumped by BUSTING which laid out under pressure.
 
POSSOVER – Bumped at the start when BUSTING jumped in. Near the 1000m when over-racing, raced in restricted room to the inside of BUSTING and head to be eased for a short distance.
 
QUIRIN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider T Marshall reported the horse failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight, adding that QUIRIN, in his opinion, is better suited to races over a shorter distance than that of today.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than a slow post-race recovery.
 
Following this event, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 2: COASTLINE BMW X7 Maiden Handicap 1800 metres
 
LET HIM LOOSE – Lost off hind plate in running.Following the disappointing performance, a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Taylor was advised a warning would be placed on LET HIM LOOSE for a poor performance. Ms Taylor subsequently advised Stewards LET HIM LOOSE would now be leaving her stable.
 
OZARCH – After being caught wide in the early stages of the event, was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 900m. T Marshall, rider of OZARCH, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
THINK D'ORO – Slow to begin.
 
SEQUOIA CHIEFTAIN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Rider M Powell reported the horse was not suited by the slow early pace of the race however when placed under pressure in the home straight was satisfied with the manner in which SEQUOIA CHIFTAIN finished the race off.  
 
CHASSAGNE – Passing the 700m was steadied to avoid the heels of ANOTHER DIME which shifted out after improving onto heels. Lost off hind plate in running.
 
EXCUSE ME – After being caught wide in the early and middle stages of the event and being unable to be restrained to obtain cover, was ridden forward to lead the event from the 700m. B Loy, rider of EXCUSE ME, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
SOCIAL DAME – After being delayed arriving on course due to traffic issues, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the track and was cleared to start.
 
CALATHIEL - E Chaves, rider of CALATHIEL, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: COASTLINE BMW XM Class 2 Handicap 1000 metres
 
DUSTY DIAMOND – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BOLD RUMBLE – Jumped out at the start and bumped SINGLE MEMO.
 
CRACKING THUNDER – Slow to begin.
 
SINGLE MEMO – Bumped at the start.
 
DEEPOUR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 200m had difficulty in obtaining clear running before shifting out to improve. E Chaves, rider of DEEPOUR, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
KABOOM – Slow to begin.
 
LAI SEE – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out throughout the event.
 
 
 
Race 4: COASTLINE BMW X5 OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
On return to scale G Cartwright, rider of 4th placegetter GENZAI THE WOLF, viewed the patrol footage in the home straight before lodging a protest against second past the post INDISPENSABLE, ridden by T Marshall, alleging interference inside the final 100m. After hearing submissions from the connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that passing the 100m INDISPENSABLE shifted out under riding and bumped GENZAI THE WOLF. Bearing in mind the beaten margin and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, the protest was dismissed, and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.  
 
KING KLAUS – Jumped out at the start.When weakening taken out near the 100m.
 
MARWAY – Inconvenienced passing the 300m.Checked from the heels of PIZONIE near the 100m when KING CLAUS shifted out and away from INDISPENSABLE which shifted out to improve. Both T Marshall, rider of INDISPENSABLE, and D Smith, rider of KING CLAUS, were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
BOMBASAY – Jumped in at the start.Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
INDISPENSABLE – Checked at the start and lost ground.Held up for clear running from entrance to home straight until a point leaving the 150m. Laid out under pressure over final 100m.
 
PIZONIE – Hampered and taken out near the 100m.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Checked at the start and lost ground. G Cartwright, rider of GENZAI THE WOLF, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
HAMILTON HILL – Bumped near the 100m.
 
 
Race 5: COASTLINE BMW i4 Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
COUNTER COMMAND dislodged rider A Allen when moving onto the track, galloped some distance before being recaptured and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:47pm on veterinary advice. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on COUNTER COMMAND be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st FLYING ZAMBONI – 0c win, 2c place
2nd LADY VALENTINE – 1c place
3rd DWINDLING SPIRIT – 3c place
 
Trainer G Duncan was advised a warning would be placed on the pre-race manners of COUNTER COMMAND.
 
Jockey A Allen was examined by the Club doctor and cleared of any injury.

MATAMAN – Began awkwardly. Bumped and taken wider on the track near the 900m. Rider C Robertson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer P Jenkins was advised a warning would be placed on the horse for a poor performance. Lost near fore plate in running.
 
DWINDLING SPIRIT – A Jones, rider of DWINDLING SPIRIT, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
NOT A FAT BOY – Bumped at the start. at the start.
 
GOSSIP COLUMN – Began awkwardly, jumped in at the start and bumped NOT A FAT BOY. Rider B Loy could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of GOSSIP COLUMN. Co-trainer M Hoysted advised GOSSIP COLUMN had pulled well from the event and going forward blinkers would be added to the horse’s gear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken from GOSSIP COLUMN.
 
SMOOTH TORQUE – As M Powell was to overweight, Stewards permitted L Allen to ride the horse. M Powell was fined $200 under AR190(3). Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE SHALL RULE – Began awkwardly.
 
GALLERY MASTER – Began awkwardly.
 
LADY VALENTINE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 6: COASTLINE BMW 2 SERIES COUPÉ BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING – Slow to begin.

KOMATA – Near the 1400m crowded for room momentarily by GENERAL WOLFFE and had to be steadied. N Berriman, rider of General Wolffe, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Rider J Adams reported the horse A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer K Loy was advised KOMATA would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Slow to begin.
 
PRICKLY POPPY – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MR DUDWEY – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event when the pace was steady. M Wishart, rider of MR DUDWEY, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
PEEKAYS LEGACY – Raced in restricted room to the inside of RONLEE GAL passing the 200m.
 
RONLEE GAL – Rider B Loy reportedthe horse to be making an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up. Following a post-race veterinary examination trainer K Schweida was advised RONLEE GAL would require a veterinary clearance, including the satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination, prior to its next race or trial start. Trainer K Schweida advised RONLEE GAL will now be sent for an immediate spell.

GENERAL WOLFFE – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1300m.
 
SCILAGO – Raced wide from the 1200m.
 
 
Race 7: COASTLINE BMW 3 SERIES RATIINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1600 metres
 
CANNY BE BETTER – Rider B Loy advised he desisted from pressuring the horse in the home straight after he became concerned with its action in the home straight.Trainer S Kendrick advised CANNY BE BETTER will now go for an immediate spell.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BIRAGUE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced for a short distance near the 800m. At the entrance of the home straight awkwardly placed at the heels of MILLENIUM JEWEL which shifted out. T Marshall, rider of MILLENIUM JEWEL, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
SET ABLAZE – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Following the disappointing performance trainer B Mair advised SET ABLAZE would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
FIGHTING MAD – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CLEARY ADONIS – Held up for clear running from the 400m until a point passing the 100m. 
 
FORBIDDEN ONE – Slow to begin.
 
BELLICOSE – After being caught racing wide in the early stages of the event was permitted to stride forward and lead the event from the 800m.
 
BOLD DELAGO – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer G Hay advised BOLD DELAGO was suited by today’s prevailing track conditions and was also suited by the tempo of the race in the middle stages, adding that the horse races best when held up for one run. Stewards noted the explanation. M Castle, rider of BOLD DELAGO, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
