GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 3. M. Butler +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: CALOUNDRA ARTS CENTRE QTIS Two-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
BOOMSTER – Raced in restricted room passing the 800m. Raced wide throughout.
 
LIMERO – Raced wide throughout.
 
KING YOSHI – Raced wide throughout.
 
ADDRIEL – As jockey B. Loy was to be overweight he was replaced by N. Callow. Jockey B. Loy was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3).
 
CONEY ISLAND BABY – Approaching the 100m steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of GREGARIOUS which was taken in by KING OF THE JUNGLE.
 
KING OF THE JUNGLE – Raced wide throughout. When placed under pressure in the home straight raced greenly, shifted out near the 200m hampering MISSILE AWAY, which in turn shifted out and bumped SPARKLE MOTION on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. KING OF THE JUNGLE then shifted in a short distance later crowding GREGARIOUS.
 
MISSILE AWAY – Slow to begin. Passing the 200m became awkwardly placed on the heels of KING OF THE JUNGLE.
 
SPARKLE MOTION – Reared and lost ground on jumping away. Passing the 200m bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
 
GREGARIOUS – Began very awkwardly and lost ground Over raced during the early stages. Crowded near the 100m.
 
FINAL APPEAL – Began awkwardly. Lost the off hind plate and shifted its near hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 2: HENZELLS AGENCY QTIS Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
BERTINELLI – When asked to comment on the performance of the filly, jockey B. Loy stated that BERTINELLI didn’t handle the fast tempo of the race and will be better suited in races over a further distance than that of today. He further added that the filly but will derive a fitness benefit from today’s race.
 
ARACELI – When asked to comment jockey on the performance of the filly, J. Orman stated that ARACELI travelled well in the early stages but weakened over the concluding stages and will derive fitness benefit from the run.
 
ARAMINTA – Slow to begin. Near the 500m steadied from the heels of the weakening ARACELI. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BLACK MINTO – Raced wide throughout.
 
WELL RESTED – Approaching the 200m was obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running.
 
JACKIEDOWNTHELINE – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI STAR – Raced wide. Apprentice C. Collis desisted from pressuring horse over the final 200m as the filly felt awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities and trainer Mr L. Ross stated that it is his intention to review the immediate racing future for MISHANI STAR in his stable.
 
 
Race 3: ROCKPOOL RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
FLAWLESS AMBITION – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 200m, shifted out under pressure resulting in CALL ME HILTON and PARALLEL being taken wider on the track. N. Beriman, rider of FLAWLESS AMBITION, was advised to stop and straighten her mounts earlier in future. Jockey N. Beriman was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted.
 
PARALLEL – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey J. Orman reported that the horse did not quicken as expected when placed under pressure from the home turn. Stable representative for the C. Waller stable, Mr B. Killion advised Stewards that he will report back if anything comes to light in the coming days.
 
REISINGER – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance of the gelding, stable representative for the C. Waller stable, Mr B. Killion advised that at the horses’ most recent start at Eagle Farm on the 29th of March the horse over raced whilst racing in blinkers, did not settle in the run and as a consequence was obliged to race wide and in a more forward position than anticipated. He added today with the blinkers off, REISINGER settled more comfortably in the run and finished the race off well.
 
ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
DIVINE CHARM – From the wide draw, was restrained at the start to take up position closer to the rail.  Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 4: CAPE GIRLS INVESTMENTS Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 
ALLUDE – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly hampering ISLES OF AVALON. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
BIG SHORT – Passing the 200m, taken outwards by MR GALAZI and brushed with ISLES OF AVALON.
 
INVINOVICH – Slow to begin.
 
MR GALAZI – Laid out under pressure for the majority of the home straight. When corrected by its rider over the concluding stages, shifted in and contacted the running rail.
 
WARRIOR JACK – Began awkwardly, contacted the inside barrier partition and as a result was slow to begin.
 
ISLES OF AVALON – Severely hampered on jumping. Near the 300m, laid out under pressure and as a result ADELAIDE FEVER became awkward on that runner’s heels.
 
STUCK IN A DREAM – When asked to comment on the performance of the filly, jockey C. Bayliss stated that STUCK IN A DREAM wasn’t suited by the fast early tempo of the race and in his opinion would appreciate a step up in distance.
 
ADELAIDE FEVER – Raced in restricted room passing the 600m.
 
 
Race 5: OSBORNE GROUP QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1000 metres
 
KOBE LAD – Approaching the finish line, shifted in abruptly under pressure causing its rider to have to stop riding and straighten her mount.
 
LA SOEUR – Jumped out at the start and bumped SPANISH ANGELS.
 
SPANISH ANGELS – Trainer Mr L. Ross was fined $100 for the late declaration of rider pursuant to LR67(1). Bumped at the start.
 
BAUHINIA ROCK – Over raced during the early stages. Passing the 600m, shifted in momentarily despite the efforts of its rider, crowding SIMPLY BETTER. Rider J. Stanley reported that the gelding was inclined to race greenly for the majority of the event.
 
CAESARIS – When attempting to shift out near the 300m to improve around the heels of KOBE LAD, bumped with DEB’S ELLIE on a number of occasions resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced for a short distance. Jockey J. Orman was advised to exercise greater care in future.
 
SIMPLY BETTER – Slow to begin. Crowded near the 600m. Jockey T. Marshall was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted.
 
DEB'S ELLIE – Jumped out at start and bumped SECRET MEMO.
 
SECRET MEMO – When asked to comment on the performance of SECRET MEMO, jockey B. Thornton stated that the filly in his opinion jarred up on today’s racing surface and consequently didn’t finish the race off as expected.

LOST MEDIA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey M. Cahill reported that he lost the use of his left iron as the horse jumped out of the barriers, placing him at disadvantage for a short distance thereafter. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: INTEGRITY FIRST Class 3 Plate 1400 metres
 
JAKKALBERRY FINN (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MIO SORRENTO – Jumped in at the start and bumped SMYTZER. Laid in for the majority of the home straight.
 
GWAN SO (GB) – Raced wide throughout.

SMYTZER – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VYNER – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
BRAVE MASO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
DUCHESS ROTHESAY – Passing the 300m, laid in for a short distance before being corrected by its rider.
 
LOVE MY SUPER – Jumped out and bumped SOKUDO.
 
 
Race 7: CALOUNDRA CHORALE AND THEATRE COMPANY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BRAVE ENOUGH – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CHIEF ARTIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
WEGOBAM – Trainer Mr J. Bruce advised Stewards of a change of tactics in that the gelding will be ridden further back to obtain cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.  
 
RUINART – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight.
 
LEGEND I AM – Slow to begin.
 
OAKFIELD HIBISCUS –When asked to comment on the performance, trainer Mr J. Johnston advised that it was the mare’s first start for the stable and whilst its work leading up to event had been pleasing, OAKFIELD HIBISCUS would derive significant fitness benefit from today’s run. Mr Johnston further added that he would report back to Stewards if anything came to light with the mare in the following days.
 
PANTHER POWER – Checked rounding the home turn. After taking initial evidence off jockey’s L. Tarrant (PANTHER POWER), T. Brooker (OAKFIELD HIBISCUS) and apprentice B. Wheeler (ALAMIRA), Stewards adjourned the inquiry for a date and time to be fixed.
 
 
Race 8: CALOUNDRA ARTS CENTRE GROUPS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1600 metres
 
GIVEITALLALI – The start of this race was delayed by 6 minutes when GIVEITALLALI refused to be loaded. The mare was declared a late scratching at 7.06pm and Stewards ordered that all bets on GIVEITALLALI must be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st SHEZA FIRECRACKER - 6c win, 10c place
2nd KAIBERRY - 10c place
3rd SACRED MISSION - 7c place
3rd ABOVE THE SKY - 10c place
 
Trainer Mr S. Cole was advised that GIVEITALLALI will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Mr Cole indicated that it was now his intention to retire the mare.
 
STAR CHANCE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running turning into the home straight.
 
MUWARRAD – Shortly after the start was crowded for room when KAIBERRY shifted out.
 
SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CLUEDO (NZ) – Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost a tooth during the running of the event.
 
ZATTASTAR – Raced wide throughout.
 
ABOVE THE SKY – Raced wide throughout.
