SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Ipswich 30.04.2025 Race 7. LADY LUCIFER - Trainer D. Vandyke reported that the mare had pulled up well following this event however, in light of the performance, he would now send LADY LUCIFER for a short spell and the mare would officially trial prior to racing again.


GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 1. S. Cormack +1kg
Race 7. S. Cormack +1kg
 
Race 6. Apprentice F. Sandkuhl was fined $100 pursuant to AR127 (1) for failing to fulfill an engagement.
 

Race 1: FINCIERGE MAIDEN HANDICAP           1800 Metres

CASTERLY ROCK – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding travelled well throughout, however when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to respond and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Bruce was advised that CASTERLY ROCK will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
MAZIS – Raced wide throughout.
 
STYNSY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THROTTLE RESPONSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUT OF LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
TULONG – Raced wide throughout.
 
WILL IT SNOW (NZ) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 250m.
 
SETHFIRE (NZ) – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
DONI TONDO – Passing the 1400m, steadied when O’CALDINO shifted in. Apprentice J. Williams, rider of O’CALDINO, was advised to exercise more care. Over raced for a short distance following this incident.
 
LILICA EBET – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of race 1, whilst the barriers were being maneuvered to the 1000m chute, a mechanical failure with the steering mechanism occurred, causing the barriers to break through the outside fence near the 1300m causing damage to the barriers thus rendering them inoperable for the remainder of the meeting. Due to the replacement set of barriers only having 14 barriers, the following horses were declared late scratchings’ acting as per the handicapped ballot order at 1.26pm.

All races were put back one timeslot with race 9 scheduled for 5.35pm to allow for repairs to the outside fence to be undertaken.
 
 
Race 2: TILERS TRADE CENTRE MAIDEN PLATE           1000 Metres

EASILY AMUSED – Slow to begin.
 
MAJOR LOOK – Slow to begin.
 
PANTHER POWER – Began awkwardly.
 
DARE TO LOVE – Jockey L. Tilley was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Jockey Tilley was replaced by jockey M. Wishart. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS IMPRESSIVE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
OVERTERN – Raced wide throughout.  
 
SOCIALLY RED – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying symptoms of heat stress.
 
SPRING BIRD – Began awkwardly.
 

Race 3: HUTCHINSON'S BUILDERS OPEN HANDICAP                  1000 Metres
 
NATIONAL CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
LA AMIGO – Laid in passing the 850m and became awkward at the heels of SITUATION ROOM.
 
MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CAMPAI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying symptoms of heat stress.
 
 
Race 4: TRAVIS SCHULTZ & PARTNERS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP        1000 Metres

ESTRONDO – Slow to begin.
 
MAIKROW – Raced wide throughout.
 
HEART AND SPIRIT – Slow to begin then hampered shortly after.
 
ALLY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ETUDE – Began awkwardly. Hung out when rounding the home turn then had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: UNIQUENESS DESIGNER JEWELLER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1000 Metres

ABENDER – Whilst inclined to lay in, improved onto heels near the 200m and was obliged to alter course to secure clear running.
 
ARODASI – Slow to begin. Raced greenly under pressure Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
FRENCH GUY – Due to this race being delayed and jockey M. Wishart being engaged to ride at another venue, permission was given for jockey Wishart to leave the course causing her to be replaced on FRENCH GUY by jockey A. Thompson.  
 
OH NOT REALLY – Cast the off fore plate in running.
 
RALOS STAR – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout particularly when under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey P. Hamblin reported that the gelding would take benefit from the race experience.
 
AVIOR – Raced wide throughout. Cast the off hind plate in running.
 
CIPHERTEXT – Laid out significantly when under pressure over the final 100m.
 
DASHING SHANGHAI – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HEYHEY IT'S JAYJAY – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
 
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Over raced during the early stages. Improved onto the heels of VOVO and had to be checked approaching the 700m.
 
VOVO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 6: SUNNYKIDS MAIDEN PLATE             1400 Metres

GRAND TORINO (NZ) – Slow to begin then hampered shortly afterwards.
 
MALOTRU – Raced wide throughout.
 
A BIT DUSTY – Slow to begin.
 
LADY MATILDA – Raced wide throughout.
 
EVADE THE GAME – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight causing its rider to stop and straighten near the 200m.
 
SHOT GLASS – Eased out of the event at the top of the straight, after blundering on several occasions and losing ground, and as a result failed to finish. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer I. Turner was advised that SHOT GLASS must officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
SHUBMAN – Passing the 1000m, whilst over racing, restrained from the heels of ZOUBLIME, and continued to over race and had to be checked from heels near 800m. Cast the near hind plate.
 
 
 
Race 7: ALTITUDE SCHOLARSHIPS CLASS 1 HANDICAP           1800 Metres
 
HARTMAN – Over raced during the early stages.
 
RUSSIAN MYSTIC – Near the 1600m, obliged to restrain when DOWN UNDER STUNNAH shifted out around the heels of TOUCHOFCLASS. Apprentice J. Williams, rider of DOWN UNDER STUNNAH, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
COOL PANELS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SANCTUARY STORM – Raced wide throughout.
 
TRAPEZE TORQUE – Co-trainers T. Edmonds & S. McLean were fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin.
 
KAFFIR LILY – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.
 
LASQUETI BOOM – Held up for clear running entering the home straight.
 
WHISKY TRAIN (NZ) – Trainer’s representative B. Rogers was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance. He indicated that the stable had not expected such a forward showing however he had attributed the improvement to the step up in distance and that the gelding was able to relax in today’s event. Trainer G. Heinrich was reprimanded pursuant to AR100(1)(a) for failing to declare a change of tactics in that it was the intention for the gelding to be ridden further back with cover from the wide barrier
 

Race 8: FINCIERGE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP             1000 Metres

LUVARCHIE – Began awkwardly. Cast the near hind plate in running.
 
PORT ERIN – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MISSILE ONE – Change of tactics – to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in for a short distance near the 700m and lost ground.
 
ZOUTHUR (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
RETAINER – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT OF STORM – When racing in restricted room near the 700m became awkward and lost ground.
 
IPHIMEDIA – Raced wide throughout.
 
MR POLAR – Underwent a resaddle on arrival at the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 9: MATT GOLINSKI BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP                      1400 Metres
 
SOBUTE – At the request of the stable, underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hindleg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that SOBUTE will require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
LIMAHULI – Raced wide throughout. Improved onto heels near the 400m and was steadied when disappointed for a run. Continued to have difficulty securing clear running until leaving the 300m when directed out and making contact with SOBUTE.
 
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin.
 
ECHO HUNTER – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FITZROY STREET (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure from the 400m onwards.
 
NAUGHTY NURSE – Trainer K. Less was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. After obtaining the lead, over raced during the middle stages and in the opinion of jockey Cormack this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of the filly.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Laid in under pressure from the 400m onwards.
 
TOKYO BANDIT – Approaching the 1200m, whilst over racing, restrained from the heels of HOLY FLASH which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey D. Turner, rider of HOLY FLASH, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
