GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 4 – A. Mallyon +0.5kg

As J. Huxtable was ill today, he was subsequently replaced as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey J. Huxtable was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.

Trainer D. Murphy was fined $200 for failing to scratch LI’L REX by the prescribed time.

Trainer J. Brown was advised PALEFACE RINGO would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming after being declared a late scratching at 8:31am on veterinary advice.

Race 1: BONDI LANE HAIRDRESSERS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

BRAVE COWBOY BILL – Lost off fore shoe.

HE IS THE KISS – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

PHOENIX STORM – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Forced wider rounding the home turn.

I'M A CHOCOHOLIC – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Forced wider rounding the home turn.

LOOK IT'S LUCY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled bilaterally on the 2nd occasion. Trainer D. Murphy was advised LOOK IT’S LUCY would now incur a lifetime ban from racing pursuant to AR 79(6).

OVERTERN – Had to be checked near the 700m as a result of PIPATINA shifting out. Approaching the 100m whilst weakening, was steadied between PRIVATE EQUITY and BRAVE COWBOY BILL which shifted out slightly.

PIPATINA – Shifted out on jumping. Hung out throughout the event and made the home turn wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Richardson was advised PIPATINA would be required to officially trial prior to resuming. Trainer L. Richardson advised Stewards that PIPATINA would now be going for a spell.

PRIVATE EQUITY – Shifted in on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.

SUKKARY – As Apprentice S. Callow was indisposed, she was subsequently replaced by Apprentice R. Thorburn. Stewards permitted R. Thorburn to only claim 1kg of his 2kg allowance.

SUNCHELLE – Slow to begin.

THE QUEEN OF TIME – Began awkwardly and was bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: STOCKLAND AURA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

RALOS STAR – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 300m and was obliged to alter course. Laid in under pressure from the 200m causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.

SOWILO RODINA – Slow to begin.

THE TERMINATOR – Slow to begin. Trainer S. Sutherland reported that THE TERMINATOR would now be going for a spell.

AMUSEANTES – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Apprentice R. Thorburn pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that as the rider of BLOODS A RUSHIN’, he did ride in a careless manner in that at a point approaching the 300m, he directed his mount to the outside of the heels of LOWER THE BOOM when not sufficiently clear of AMUSEANTES causing that runner to become tightened for room and restrained when racing to the inside of BETTY MAUD. Apprentice R. Thorburn’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 15/6/2025 up to and including midnight 24/6/2025.

BETTY MAUD – Shifted in on jumping and bumped LOWER THE BOOM. Raced wide throughout. Rider A. Sewell dropped his whip near the 150m.

BLOODS A RUSHIN' – Shifted out on jumping and bumped LOWER THE BOOM.

BUBBLY MOON – Raced wide throughout.

FULLY SUBSCRIBED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

After the running of Race 2, the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.

Race 3: SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS MAIDEN PLATE 1800 M

MISSILE AWAY – Slow to begin.

ORMOND ROAD – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 150m.

ELITE POWER – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Maloney stated his mount travelled well throughout however when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to let down as anticipated and proved disappointing.

GLOBAL – Passing the 1600m, tightened for room when DOUBLE WHAMMY shifted in. Leaving the 1400m, lost ground when steadied after DOUBLE WHAMMY shifted in.

MARGOT'S STAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 1600m, tightened for room when GLOBAL shifted in as a result of DOUBLE WHAMMY shifting in.

Race 4: EATON SERVICES GROUP WINTER PROVINCIAL STAYERS - HEAT - BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 M

AKROTIRI (NZ) – Approaching the 1800m tightened for room and obliged to restrain from the heels of THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) when the pace of that horse was steadied and continued to be steadied causing AKROTIRI (NZ) to be restrained from heels near the 1600m. Apprentice A. Graham rider of THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(d) for this incident. Stewards when considering penalty took into account Apprentice A. Graham’s inexperience with races of similar distance.

THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving on course and was subsequently cleared to start. Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1500m.

SECRET LOCATION – Slow to begin. Near the 200m raced in restricted room and had to steady when AKROTIRI (NZ) shifted out to improve.

BESTOWER (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 250m until the 150m then raced very greenly over the final 100m.

LA COMETA (NZ) – Reared in the barriers and became momentarily cast. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start. Forced wider near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SAVANNAH GANGSTER – Raced wide early before being permitted to stride forward into a position outside the leader near the 1600m.

Race 5: NOTRE DAME COLLEGE CLASS 1 PLATE - MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

Due to a patron requiring medical attention from the ambulance, the start time for Race 5 was pushed back one time slot, with all remaining races also being pushed back one time slot and the new start time for race 10 being 5:38pm.

HAZEY HILL – Began awkwardly and lost ground as a result.

NIRVANA THE STORM – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room leaving the 700m when racing to the inside of BANK BOOK.

REVITUP CHARLIE – Began awkwardly. Trainer T. Thomas was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.

AQUATIER – Raced in restricted room leaving the 700m when racing to the inside of BANK BOOK.

BANK BOOK – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick reported he was disappointed with the performance of the filly and would do follow up tests in the days subsequent and would report back to Stewards.

Race 6: UNIFORM MANAGEMENT SERVICES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1800 M

BIRMINGHAM – Over raced during the middle stages. Raced wide early before being permitted to stride forward and take up a position outside the leader passing the 1400m.

LOYALTY COUNTS – Obliged to alter course near the 250m.

GOT YOURSELF A GUN – Slow to begin.

KHAMIS – Laid in under pressure from the 400m onwards, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

LISSARO (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the gelding was fractious in the barriers and had displaced the pacifiers.

TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainer P. Duncan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.

BORN TO BE ALIVE – Raced wide early before being permitted to stride forward and take up a leading position passing the 1400m. Apprentice C. Vitler reported his mount over raced during the middle stages when BIRMINGHAM was racing to its outside and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect of the performance. Apprentice C. Vitler also advised that the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin.

Race 7: MITTYS BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 1800 M

DIABLO BOLT – Held up rounding the home turn. Passing the 100m, obliged to steady from the heels of FELIX THE SCAT which shifted out under pressure. Jockey M. Du Plessis rider of FELIX THE SCAT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.

MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice C. Collis stated that the gelding travelled well throughout, however failed to let down as expected and in his opinion the gelding failed to run out the 1800m.

FELIX THE SCAT – Slow to begin.

Race 8: HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY OLI WINTER PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1000 M

TERMAGANT – As Apprentice F. Sandkuhl was indisposed she was subsequently replaced by Apprentice E. Lang. Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 700m when racing between ZOUMETEOR and ACRES AWAY which was taken in by GREYZOUS. Held up on the heels of GREYZOUS from leaving the 400m until near the 200m.

SUPER DAISY – Slow to begin.

THE LUCKY ALIEN – Raced wide throughout.

CHAKRA BOY – Raced wide throughout.

ACRES AWAY - Tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing between TERMAGANT and GREYZOUS which shifted in. Jockey S. Cormack rider of GREYZOUS was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.

GODFATHER – Held up rounding the home turn and had some difficulty securing clear running on entering the home straight.

ZOUMETEOR – Shifted out on jumping.

MATILLY – Began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping.

TIJUANA TWO STEP – Improved onto heels over the final 80m, had to be restrained and went to the line without being fully tested. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the mare could not muster early speed, however finished off the race well and would appreciate a step up in distance

BEEBEE DAZZLER – Hampered after the start and lost ground.

PARTY SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout.

RUBY CHICKS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

MISSILE ONE – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running during the early stages of the home straight.

Race 9: XXXX CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 M

GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

JOHN RAMBO – Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

WEIGALL TIGER – Jockey M. Du Plessis stated that his mount raced quite fresh, weakened in the home straight and he could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. Jockey K. Schweida confirmed his disappointment in the performance and would report back to Stewards in the subsequent days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SER JOH – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.

BOHEMIAN LAD – Jockey T. Brooker reported her mount travelled comfortably throughout however failed to respond in the straight and proved disappointing. Trainer D. Vandyke confirmed his disappointment and advised Stewards he would be sending the gelding for a spell and follow up in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near hindleg. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised BOHEMIAN LAD would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

Race 10: MARCELLIN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M

FIGHTING IDOL – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

DARE TO SHARE – Over raced during the early stages.

SIAN STAR – Raced wide throughout.

STREAK OF WINNING – Raced wide throughout.

ESTRONDO – Held up for clear running and restrained from heels from the 600m until approaching the 200m.

CONSTANT CAFÉ – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and Jockey A. Thompson lost the use of his near side rein near the 150m.

BODY OF VENUS – On jumping away, the near side winker became displaced.

CROWN GUINEA – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.

PRETTY RHO – Began awkwardly.
