SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
Apprentice A Graham is not riding at today’s meeting and stewards advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.
 
Jockey J Huxtable was injured he was replaced as per the stewards summary.
 
Race 8 – Stewards permitted jockey M Butler to ride 1kg overweight on STAR CHANCE.

Race 1: WHITE LIGHT ELECTRICAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1000 M

ABSINTHE CAT - Raced wide. Whilst weakening over the concluding stages, was inconvenienced when THE SOUR shifted out under pressure. G Cartwright the rider of THE SOUR was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in similar circumstances.
 
HOT TORQUE INVEGAS - Began awkwardly before becoming awkward on heels after being bumped and forced inwards by RARE AND RELIABLE (NZ) which shifted in.
 
DASHING HOPE - Raced wide
 
Race 2: SURFSIDE HOMES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1000 M

TRANQUIL BAY - Late scratching by order of stewards at 10:56am due to becoming fractious on route to the course. Stewards advised trainer R Heathcote that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to accepting the mare for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
KAT CHINNA - Began awkwardly
 
LAYDOWNLILY - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
ZINGALONG - Inconvenienced near the 500m when tightened between APOLLO TEN and STATE IN TEXAS which shifted out whilst hanging.
 
KEYBOARD - Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
STATE IN TEXAS - Inclined to lay out in the middle stages.
 
AIR WE GO - Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
APOLLO TEN - Raced wide.

Race 3: SAMIOS PLUMBING SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE       1000 M

CHICK CHICK STICK - Hampered at the start when SIGLO DE ORO shifted out. Leaving the 800m had to be checked when tightened for room to the inside of HEAVY REIGN which after over racing into restricted room to the inside of RIP UP RUBY shifted in and away from that runner, causing tightening to CHICK CHICK STICK.
 
CORVALIST - Raced wide.
 
KANANASKIS - Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Apprentice C Sutherland reported that his right knee made contact with the barrier partition on jumping away.
 
RIP UP RUBY - Approaching the 800m over raced for a short distance when restrained to obtain cover. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running until leaving the 200m.
 
SMART SHAZZA - Raced wide.
 
HEAVY REIGN - Began awkwardly. Shifted in near the 900m causing tightening to SECRET CAVIAR. Over raced approaching the 800m and shifted in and away from RIP UP RUBYE. Trainer B Mair was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly for its racing manners.
 
SECRET CAVIAR - Slow to begin. Near the 900m obliged to check when HEAVY REIGN shifted in and away from FINAL VOYAGE despite the efforts of its rider.
 
SILVER TAP - Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Jockey C Graham pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that when approaching the 350m she directed FINAL VOYAGE out in an attempt to obtain clear running outside SMART SHAZZA and in doing so was not clear of SILVER TAP causing that horse to clip the heels of FINAL VOYAGE, blunder and lose ground. Jockey C Graham’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight, Saturday the 19th of July 2025 and to conclude midnight, Tuesday 29th of July 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record and a QRIC careless riding guidelines. 

Race 4: MILLER SOCKHILL LAWYERS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 M


GOZO - Rider D Thornton dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
ARGYLE GOLD - Began awkwardly.
 
BIRDSVILLE BOY - Slow to begin, further hampered at the start when AMBER AFFAIR shifted in.
 
CLEARLY NOT - Hampered at the start when the gelding was bumped by BRAIDWOOD ROSE which jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 700m had to be checked to avoid the heels of ALIQUAM when that horse had been tightened and lost ground.
 
ALIQUAM - Tightened for room near the 700m when racing between ARGYLE GOLD and BRAIDWOOD ROSE which whilst racing erratic, shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
AMBER AFFAIR - Raced in restricted room near the 250m and had to be steadied.
 
MISS ADRIFT - Raced wide. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
KODOMARI - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to present with cardiac arrythmia. Trainer L Anderson was advised that the filly would now be required to undergo a ECG and a trial prior to a future jump out, trial or race.
 
UNCLOTHED - Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide.  Forced wider when rounding the home turn.
 
WAX ON WAX OFF - Raced wide.
 
WALLY'S BOY - Slow to begin. Raced wide. Rider A Allen on return to the scales reported that the gelding hung out throughout the event.
 
BRAIDWOOD ROSE - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced erratically in the early and middle stages. Laid in, in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had laceration to the off-hind pastern. Trainer M Bailey was advised that a veterinary certificate would now be required prior to BRAIDWOOD ROSE accepting for a future jump out, trial or race. M Bailey was also advised that the filly would now be required to trial to the steward’s satisfaction prior to accepting for a future race.
 
Race 5: THE SPORTS HUB MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M

SOUTHERN DRAW - Hampered and lost ground at the start when ATOMIC GOZEN shifted out. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 1000m when over racing was obliged to be steadied from heels.
 
MELTDOWN - Over raced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
SUNCHELLE - Leaving the 1000m blundered.
 
ATOMIC GOZEN - Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
PAPERINO - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer S McLean was advised that an endoscopic examination and a veterinary clearance would now be required prior to PAPERINO being accepted for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
Race 6:ENTREPRENEURIAL BUSINESS SCHOOL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE     1400 M
 
The start of this event was delayed when CITY BOUND proved difficult to load.

DREAM THINKER - Raced wide.
 
PISTON REBEL - Fractious in the barriers before being slow to begin.
 
SOWILO RODINA - Raced wide. Obliged to check near the 200m when STABILIZER shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
STABILIZER - Commenced to hang out from the 400m and whilst hanging out, shifted out abruptly near the 200m causing interference to THE ADJUSTA and SOWILO RODINA. Following this incident, continued to lay out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer B Baker was advised that the gelding would now be required to trial satisfactory in an official trial prior to accepting for a future race. Trainer B Baker advised that it would be the connections intentions to now send the horse for a spell.
 
THE ADJUSTA - Obliged to check near the 200m when STABILIZER shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
UNDER SUSPICION - Raced wide. Rider D Thornton reported that despite racing three wide, could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance.
 
USE YOUR ILLUSION - Began awkwardly, tightened and bumped with UNDER SUSPICION. Over raced in the early stages.
 
AKKU - Began awkwardly and shifted out onto USE YOUR ILLUSION.
 
CITY BOUND - Proved difficult to load and the connections were advised that a barrier certificate would be required prior to the filly being accepted for a future race.
 
DRACENA - Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with UNDER SUSPICION.
 
Race 7: SHADCON CLASS 3 HANDICAP       1400 M

BOONDOCKS - Slow to begin. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
STREAK OF WINNING - On return to scales, rider C Graham reported that in her opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit.
 
BRAZEN KINGDOM (NZ) - Raced wide. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DISSELATION - Over raced when being restrained near the 1000m.
 
TURBULENT - Slow to begin.
 
SHADOW CRUISER - Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: AYRETON INDUSTRIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1600 M

BIT OF GRUNT - Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 350m was tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing between CHAYSE 'N' ADAM and LOU VEGA which shifted out.
 
FOURANDAHALF - Late scratching at 4:30pm on vets advise after becoming fractious in the tie up stalls and becoming lame in the off fore and had abrasions to the knee and cannon. Stewards declared all bets placed on FOURANDAHALF to be refunded with the following deductions to successful wagers on the event:
1st: 3c win, 2c place
2nd: 6c place
3rd: 5c place
 
BOKUDEN - Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m was obliged to be steadied when SAMMAAN CITY shifted out. Jockey T Marshall was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in relation to this incident.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ADAM - Rounding the home turn was held up for a short distance.
 
LOU VEGA - Raced wide in the early stages. Apprentice E Lang reported that LOU VEGA laid out for the majority of the event.
 
SET ABLAZE - Slow to begin.
 
STAR ANTHEM - Slow to begin.
 
THE LOVE OF MARY – Slow to begin and was inconvenienced shortly after the start.
 
SNOW SHOW (NZ) - Jockey M Butler pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that when STAR CHANCE commenced to shift in he failed to stop riding and straighten when not clear of SNOW SHOW (NZ) causing that horse to be checked. Jockey M Butler’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, commencing midnight, Saturday the 19th of July 2025 and to conclude midnight, Saturday 26th of July 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and a QRIC careless riding guidelines.
