RACE 1: TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

HUNTER'S MATE – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
TURBO TORQUE – Disappointed for a run near the 250m and was obliged to alter course. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Maloney stated that the gelding raced greenly throughout, was unable to muster early speed and was of the opinion the horse would benefit from a step up in distance. He further added that he recommended to connections to add blinkers to the horses gear and remove the nose roll.
 
EXODAS – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE WHEELBARROW – Hampered after the start. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m, shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so, bumped SECRET ROSE.
 
LADY TANGALOOMA (NZ) – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey B. Thompson stated that his mount travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure from the 600m, the filly proved disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the off hind fetlock.
 
SECRET ROSE – Bumped near the 200m when THE WHEELBARROW shifted out.
 
INSIDE PASSAGE – Began awkwardly.
 
MOONSPELL – Raced wide throughout. Whilst weakening, raced in restricted room rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Huxtable stated that his mount was under pressure from the 800m and proved disappointing. He further added that the filly may appreciate a step back in distance and ridden further back in the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
NEWEVA – Began awkwardly.
 
RACE 2: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS AUSTRALIA MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes after LADY SANTOS and LILLY GRACE (NZ) both required pre-race veterinary examinations and were subsequently cleared to start.  
 
BEFORE THE THUNDER – Bumped after the start. Jockey L. Tarrant reported that his mount put in an awkward stride after the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FRENCH GUY – Raced wide throughout.
 
CAVARETTA – Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and failed to muster early speed, resulting in the mare settling closer to the tail of the field.
 
EVELYN MAY (NZ) – Bumped after the start.
 
FROTHSAY – Bumped after the start.
 
MISS FORTYFOUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR JEWEL – Bumped after the start. Over raced during the early stages.
 
STOICISM (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Tightened for room near the 450m between MISS FORTYFOUR and CAVARETTA which shifted out to obtain clear running. Steadied from heels near the 250m when FRENCH GUY raced greenly whilst weakening.
 
LILLY GRACE (NZ) – Whilst over racing in the early stages was obliged to steady from heels near the 1300m when WOWZINO shifted in.
 
LADY SANTOS – Laid in throughout. Tightened for room near the 450m between MISS FORTYFOUR and CAVARETTA which shifted out to obtain clear running.

RACE 3: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M
 
HOFFMAN – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event Apprentice J. Williams stated that it had not been his intention to lead. He had been instructed to ride forward and attempt to obtain cover, however in the early stages he realised he would be caught wide and as such elected to allow his mount to stride forward to the lead.
 
PICKAXE – Inconvenienced near the 250m when WINCHMAN shifted in under pressure.
 
TORTILLA – Slow to begin.
 
WINCHMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey A. Mallyon stated that he would have preferred to settle closer, however he was unable to do so after he began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
AVIOR – Improved onto heels near the 500m and had to steadied before racing in restricted room near the 400m when ENCUBIERTO shifted out.
 
PORT RIVER BILLIE – Forced wider near the 700m when WINCHMAN shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards. Raced in restricted room near the 400m when ENCUBIERTO shifted out. Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount put in a few awkward strides passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
VICTORY STATEMENT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 4: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2200 M

GUARDED OPTIMIST – Checked from the heels of LINAS REEL and lost ground near the 900m when DEMARCAY shifted out.
 
WEONA REDWOOD (NZ) – Jockey R. Maloney stated that his mount over raced through the early stages of the event and as a result, shifted wider near the 1500m and improved to the lead. He added that the horse did not travel strongly from the 900m and was somewhat disappointed in its finishing efforts. He indicated that he had recommended to connections that the gelding may benefit from a spell. Trainer D. Vandyke advised that it was now the stables intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
LINAS REEL – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 900m when DEMARCAY shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up in the subsequent days regarding the performance of the gelding.
 
LIKEABEEL – Inconvenienced after passing the 200m when WEONA REDWOOD (NZ) shifted out under pressure.
 
ADELAD – Raced wide throughout. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 900m when KENSHIN MARU was steadied and DEMARCAY was following that runner, rather than restraining, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor directed DEMARCAY to the outside of that horse’s heels, shifted out and in doing so forced LINAS REEL out causing GUARDED OPTIMIST to be checked and shift out, which forced ADELAD wider, causing that runner to lose ground. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days commencing midnight 23/8/2025 up to and including midnight 3/9/2025.
 
KENSHIN MARU – Steadied from heels after passing the 1000m.
 
WANDA'S OUTLAW – Slow to begin.
 
ROAD TO PARADISE – Began awkwardly.
 
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
PLANNED ENCOUNTER (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from its offside nostril. Trainer N. Hocking was advised the mare would be required to complete a 1000m gallop prior to resuming racing.

RACE 5: SHERRIN RENTALS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
HE'S FOR THE GIRLS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LONE FORCE – Began awkwardly.
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Bumped on jumping. Held up between the 600m and 500m.
 
NOTES (NZ) – Hampered shortly after the start. Inconvenienced near the 200m when YEAH COPY shifted out under pressure.
 
RICKYTHESTEAMBOAT – Bumped after the start.
 
WARNA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PROPONENT – Raced wide throughout.
 
YOUCOMPLETEME – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  Trainer’s representative N. Boyle advised that it was now the stables intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
BONJOUR RUPERT – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its off fore knee.
 
YEAH COPY – Laid out under pressure whilst weakening in the straight. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey C. Graham stated that she had raced wide until being able to obtain a position outside the lead near the 700m and in her opinion this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing effort.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Raced wide throughout.
 
SNITCH'N'SNATCHING – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HARLEY CHARLIE – Passing the 1200m was obliged to race in restricted room when LONE FORCE shifted in.

RACE 6: HEIGHT 4 HIRE FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400 M

RAPID CHEVAL (NZ) – Stewards asked Jockey J. Lloyd and B. Hull to comment on the performance of RAPID CHEVAL (NZ). Jockey J. Lloyd confirmed that he would have liked the mare to settle in a more forward position, however from a wide barrier he was obliged to settle at the tail of the field in order to obtain cover. Jockey J. Lloyd further added that with the top weight in today’s event the mare was left flat footed at the top of the straight and failed to quicken and lay in under pressure. Trainers representative B. Hull agreed with Jockey J. Lloyd’s comments. Stewards noted the explanation from both B. Hull and J. Lloyd. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near hindleg. Trainer B. Laming was advised that RAPID CHEVAL (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
INTRECCIATO – Near the 1000m when restrained to allow CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS to cross, over raced with its head in the air for a short distance.
 
ARISTELLA – Significantly slow to begin.
 
THE LOVE OF MARY – Inconvenienced near the 200m when RAPID CHEVAL shifted in. Jockey J. Lloyd rider of RAPID CHEVAL was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.

RACE 7: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000 M

GOLD REVOLUTION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey S. Rutledge pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 400m, Jockey S. Rutledge failed to stop and straighten ROCKY BLONDE which commenced to shift out, causing BOLD AS BRASS to check from heels and shift out, hampering GOLD REVOLUTION and NOBLE INTENT. Jockey S. Rutledge’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 23/8/2025 up to and including 30/8/2025.
 
SPELLHOUND – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Bayliss stated that his mount was slow to begin and settled further back in the field. He further added that the gelding travelled strongly throughout the event until the 400m and when asked for an effort at the top of the straight, failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BOLD AS BRASS – Passing the 400m, checked from the heels of ROCKY BLONDE which shifted out.
 
NOBLE INTENT – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Hampered and forced wider passing the 400m.
 
RIVA D'AMOR – Obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running.
 
ROCKY BLONDE – Began awkwardly.
 
OUR DRUMMER – Began awkwardly.
