RACE 1: VANTAGE BUILDING GROUP MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
ERAJA – When asked to comment on the performance, rider B. Thompson indicated that he was obliged to pressure his mount in the early stages to obtain a position. He added that the gelding travelled well during the middle stages, however was disappointing when pressured on entering the home straight and finished the race off only fairly.
AMALFI BOY – Began awkwardly and hampered. Raced wide throughout.
DASHING MARS – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. Trainer A. Campton was reprimanded pursuant to 106(2) for presenting with pre-race ear muffs which were not part of the gelding’s declared gear.
KEIKO SAY – Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
TASMAN BAY – Began awkwardly. Rider B. Lerena reported his mount laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
TINKERTINO – Began awkwardly.
QUEEN ARNI – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
CONCLUDED – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
HAS BEAN – Trainer M. Lakey was reprimanded pursuant to 106(2) for presenting without a tongue tie which is part of the mare’s declared gear.
RACE 2: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD & FOUR-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
CHARMING NIC – Stewards questioned apprentice C. Sutherland regarding the performance of CHARMING NIC and the tactics adopted. Apprentice Sutherland stated that from the wide barrier, he had been instructed to ride at the tail of the field as has been the racing pattern of the gelding in previous starts. Stewards sought an explanation as to apprentice Sutherlands’ reason for shifting wider near the 600m and he advised Stewards that at that point, his mount commenced to race with its head in the air, and with the heavy weight impost, along with its previous tendency to over race, he then elected to shift wider and improve into the race whilst the gelding was travelling comfortably. He added that CHARMING NIC travelled strongly until the 300m however did not respond and quicken as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind. Co-trainer T. McEvoy was advised that CHARMING NIC will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
SIX MORE SONGS – Passing the 100m, shifted out and bumped CLICK CLICK BOOM.
BOLD BIDDER – Slow to begin. Rider A. Mallyon reported that his mount did not respond to his riding in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CLICK CLICK BOOM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped passing the 100m.
TAKE A BOW – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m and continued to be held up whilst awkwardly placed at heels until approaching the 350m.
BOLD MARIE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 3: NOOSA HEADS SLSC BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1300 Metres
OUTBURST – Slow to begin and failed to muster early speed. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
READY AZZ EVA – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers after being found with blood in its mouth and was cleared to start.
FLYWHEEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
WEST CORK – Began awkwardly. After being ridden along to lead, then commenced to over race in the middle stages.
YES TO EXCESS – Trainer R. Beaton was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
OUR SILVER LININGS (NZ) – Forced wider passing the 400m when READY AZZ EVA shifted out to improve and weakened from that point. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that OUR SILVER LININGS will require a veterinary clearance including a ECG, prior to completing a 1000m gallop or trial.
FLY FIFER – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 200m.
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (4).
RACE 4: ROBILLIARD BUILDING & DESIGN BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
BOLD COMIC – Began awkwardly.
ONE 'N' ONLY – Trainer K. Loy was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Shifted in abruptly on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
DONT CALL ME HONEY – Began awkwardly, lost ground then inconvenienced and became awkward at heels. Over raced in the early stages.
BELISTIC MAN – Hampered on jumping. Over raced in the early stages and became awkward at heels near the 800m and raced wide that point outwards. Leaving the 600m, was bumped heavily on two occasions when DON’T CALL ME HONEY was directed out to improve. Apprentice J. Franklin, rider of DON’T CALL ME HONEY, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
HUMPHREE BEAR – Severely hampered on jumping.
RACE 5: FINCIERGE NOOSA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
DEEPOUR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HARDWARE LANE – Raced wide throughout.
MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Obliged to stop riding over the concluding stages between HEARTONI and THELWELL which shifted in. Apprentice O. Webb, rider of THELWELL, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
WILD BOTANICA – Steadied from heels near the 600m and shifted wider shortly afterwards. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
RALPHIE – Connections advised of a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Fractious in the barriers, slow to begin and settled at the rear of the field.
XPRESSO – Began awkwardly with rider A. Jones becoming momentarily awkward in the saddle. Raced wide throughout.
I SEE YOU COMING – Slow to begin.
RACE 6: CHRISTMAS COMPLETE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
PUNJABI LANDING – Slow to begin. Rider A. Mallyon advised Stewards that he had concerns with the action of the gelding in the home straight and consequently he didn’t pressure PUNJABI LANDING over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
UMETINI – Rider B. Thompson reported that his mount had a tendency to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
TUKI TWELVE – Slow to begin.
STAR CHANCE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 7: PAINT PLACE NOOSA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
LOCH AWE – Over raced for a short distance passing the 1000m.
NINJITZOU – Shifted in on jumping and bumped COOL RUNNING.
BREEZIN' – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and was reluctant to improve between runners leaving the 400m until leaving the 350m.
COOL RUNNING – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide from the 900m.
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Significantly slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 200m and was obliged to alter course to secure clear running as a result.
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Bumped on jumping. Over raced for a short distance near the 900m.
SO YOU CAN TORQUE – Slow to begin.
MOONLIGHT KICKS – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding which weakened noticeably in the home straight, rider J. Lloyd stated that from the wide barrier, MOONLIGHT KICKS was obliged to do a lot of work to obtain a position outside the leader at the 700m, and in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort of the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
