Race 8: 12 ANOTHER DAZZLER – A. Thompson +1kg (55kg)
RACE 1: GOLDEN BEACH SS P&C MAIDEN HANDICAP 1600 M
The start of this race was delayed due to the ambulance failing to arrive on time. Stewards had brought horses into the enclosure after having been advised that the ambulance was about to enter the racecourse, when this was found not to be the case, the horses were removed from the enclosure and returned to the tie up stalls.
HE'SGOTTHESAY – Held up for clear running from the 600m, steadied from heels near the 500m and continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until the 350m. Trainer G. Thornton was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting a horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear (without winkers).
OLD FAITHFUL (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with LACEYLACE. Shifted wider near the 700m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
TULONG – Bumped with ROXSET at the start. Raced wide until ridden forward to obtain position outside the leader near the 800m.
ZEDIQUETTE (NZ) – Jockey B. Thompson reported his intention had been to settle in the first four if possible, however; after beginning only moderately, he was obliged to settle midfield. He added when the pace of the race slackened, the mare over raced for a short distance near the 1200m, before shifting three wide in an attempt to follow TULONG and was afforded cover from that runner until leaving the 800m and was then caught three wide without cover.
DIVINE DI – Began awkwardly. Shifted wider near the 700m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
LACEYLACE – Bumped with OLD FAITHFUL (NZ) at the start. Over raced badly for a short distance passing the 1200m when the pace slackened.

RACE 2: CALOUNDRA SHS P&C CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800 M
LA COMETA (NZ) – Slow to begin.
RACE 3: CALOUNDRA SHS P&C MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
The start of this race was delayed due to VIDEO VIXEN undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the barriers and getting its leg up and was subsequently cleared to start. Co-Trainer G. Heinrich was advised VIDEO VIXEN would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
CHICAGO KING – Trainer M. Freedman was reprimanded pursuant to AR 227(a) for negligence in failing to collect his saddle by the prescribed time. Became fractious as the start was effected and lost significant ground resulting in the gelding taking no competitive part in the event. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the footage of the start and ruled CHICAGO KING should be declared a runner, as other than the horse’s own actions, it had been afforded a fair start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed small abrasion to near hind pastern. Trainer M. Freedman was advised CHICAGO KING would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
HE'S A FIGHTER – Over raced for a short distance after obtaining cover approaching the 900m.
AMELIORATION – Tightened for room at the start.
ARODASI – Began awkwardly and heavily bumped with TINTAURA. Jockey J. Huxtable reported he had concerns with the gelding’s action in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with Trainer G. Duncan in the subsequent days as to how the gelding has recovered.
NANTERRE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. When approaching the 600m, attempted to shift out to improve and was unable to do so as PARADING GUS had improved to the outside and as a result, was obliged to steady from heels near the 550m.
O'EXPLOSIVE – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 500m.
PARADING GUS – Bumped with NANTERRE near the 600m, when that horse attempted to shift out to improve and again near the 400m when NANTERRE shifted out.

Miller in the subsequent days as to how the mare has recovered.
VINDICTA – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. Thornton stated the gelding did not let down as expected and proved disappointing.
BONDED AFFAIR – Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m in order to secure clear running.

RACE 5: JAX TYRES AND AUTO CALOUNDRA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
LIMERO – Shifted out on jumping. Forced to be restrained and lose rightful running when tightened for room near the 900m.
BUNDELLA – Shifted in on jumping. Forced to shift in to avoid heels near the 900m.
PLATINUM LIES – Blundered shortly after jumping. Apprentice M Philpot was questioned regarding the tempo her mount set whilst leading during the early and middle stages of the event. Apprentice Philpot accepted that her mount had gone too hard during this portion of the event and that she had made attempts to restrain and steady her mounts pace. She added that the mare was having only her second start this preparation and has tended to overrace during the first couple of starts after a spell. Stewards reviewed the films with Apprentice Philpot and noted her explanation.
JOY A PLENTY – Forced to be restrained and lose rightful running when tightened for room near the 900m. Apprentice M. Philpot rider of PLATINUM LIES pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 900m, she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BUNDELLA forcing thar runner to shift in, forcing LIMERO to shift in tightening the running of JOY A PLENTY and caused both LIMERO and JOY A PLENTY to be restrained and lose their rightful running. Apprentice M. Philpot’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days, commencing midnight Saturday 11 October 2025, concluding midnight Tuesday 21 October 2025. Jockey D. Moor reported he recommended to connections to remove the tongue tie from the horse’s advertised gear as he felt this contributed to the horse being in an agitated state and missing the start.
RACE 6: MURRAYBILT CARAVANS CALOUNDRA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1400 M
JUNGLE FEVER – Held up for clear running from 600m until approaching the 400m.

Simpson was advised KAMARIYA would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

MANHATTAN'S – Improved onto heels after passing the 600m and had to be steadied. Continued to be held up for clear running until approaching the 300m.
BETATHANEVA – Shifted out on jumping. Trainer J. Jenkins was advised a warning would be placed on BETATHANEVA for its barrier manners after becoming fractious.
SMUDGED – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the enclosure fence and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced ungenerously passing the 1200m. After passing the 1000m when racing one off the fence, received pressure from SMART SHAZZA when that horse shifted in when attempting to obtain a position closer to the fence. This caused both horses to bump on a number of occasions approaching the 900m and forced SMUDGED to shift in closer to the rail. Stewards inquired into this incident with both riders and severely reprimanded Jockey R. Maloney pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
STRIKE THE HEART – Whilst weakening over the concluding stages, steadied when racing in restricted room between DECRYPT and JUNGLE FEVER which shifted out. Jockey R. Hutchings advised stewards that the mare failed to travel comfortably at any stage and proved disappointing. Trainer D Vandyke advised stewards that he was of the opinion that the mare raced too keenly in a forward position and this affected the horses finishing effort. He indicated that he would look to step STRIKE THE HEART up in distance and settle further back in the field if possible.
