SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
As apprentice jockey C. Vitler was absent through illness, he was replaced as per the Stewards summary. Apprentice C. Vitler was advised that he requires a medical clearance prior to next riding.
 
 
Stewards questioned trainers T. Gollan and L. Birchley regarding the acceptances and subsequent scratchings of runners I AM THAT GIRL, REMEMBRALL and VANZADEE in Race 1. Stewards noted the explanations of both trainers. Trainer L. Birchley was advised a veterinary clearance would be required for both REMEMBRALL and VANZADEE prior to next racing.
 
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:

Race 4: Jockey A. Sewell +0.5kg (54.5kg)
 
 

Race 1: SHERRIN RENTALS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

BOOMELLI – Began awkwardly.
 
COSMOPOLITAN LADY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 2: BLAKE MACHINERY GROUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000 M

THE SUN DANCE – Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race and was steadied leaving the 800m.
 
A TOUCH FROM FAYT – Near the 800m, raced in restricted room and was inconvenienced when BLITZWATER (Apprentice O. Webb) laid out slightly and OOHLALOUVRE (R. Maloney) laid in slightly. Both riders were advised to exercise greater care.  

CHAMPAGNE LANE – Rider R. Hutchings advised it was not his intention to lead, however after being caught wide, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward.
 
IRISH THUNDER – Lost its off-fore plate.

Race 3: BRJ ACCOUNTANTS & BUSINESS ADVISORS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

WATCHYA LANGUAGE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until near the 200m.
 
ZOUBLIME – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LILLY GRACE. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
BOLD BEAUTY – Performed below market expectations and subsequently underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
 
LILLY GRACE (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
MAKING EYES (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. Put in an awkward stride near the 250m. Trainer D. Vandyke advised it would be his intention to perhaps remove the blinkers and step the filly up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
CAIRO QUEEN – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. Lost its off-hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abrasions to the off-hind cannon.

ROXSET – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.

Race 4: SUNCOAST CABS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

KING MAL – Raced three-wide with cover throughout
 
PARAT SIBIFORTUNAM – Slow to begin. Near the 250m, obliged to steady from heels when CLAW MACHINE was bumped and shifted out.
 
ELROND – Slow to begin.
 
CLAW MACHINE – Hampered near the 1200m when TOO DARN SMART (A. Goindasamy) shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey A. Goindasamy was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a). Near the 200m, bumped with TOO DARN SMART, then shifted out.
 
PRAISE YOU – Fractious in the barriers. Held up approaching the home turn. Trainer S. Sutherland advised it would be the intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
TOO DARN SMART – Raced greenly throughout. Trainer D. Gafa was fined the sum of $100 pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting TOO DARN SMART to race without a surcingle.
 
ORMOND ROAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SHIP HAPPENS – Hampered near the 1200m. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
FERGUS EN MARCHE – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
RUBOS – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
Race 5: SUNNY ADVERTISING BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1300 M

SILVER CITY – Bumped at the start. Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room when BADDA BOOM BABY laid in. Held up approaching the 200m until leaving the 100m.
 
NATIONAL INTEREST – Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room when BADDA BOOM BABY (Apprentice L. Martyn) laid in. Apprentice L. Martyn was advised to exercise greater care. Near the 250m bumped GAGNANTE ENCHERE.  
 
BADDA BOOM BABY – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 900m, bumped with NATIONAL INTEREST and became unbalanced.  
 
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SILVER CITY. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.
 
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Over-raced when restraining for cover passing the 900m. Disappointed for a run near the 250m and bumped with NATIONAL INTEREST on a number of occasions.
 
HURRICANE LU – Slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages.

Race 6: TENSENS CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400 M

FLYWHEEL – Carried wider near the 900m when NIGHTSTICK shifted out, before shifting back in.
 
DAYTONA – Near the 850m, was obliged to steady when awkward on the heels of FLYWHEEL which shifted in, before racing ungenerously for a short distance thereafter. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
YOSHINO – Rider R. Dolan advised it wasn’t his intention to lead, however after jumping well, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward.
 
CAPITAL ASSET – Began awkwardly. Laid out approaching the 100m.
 
CHINCHILLA AHEAD – On arrival at the barriers, the nasal strip became semi-detached and when unable to be re-affixed, was removed. Near the 1000m, was obliged to steady from heels when YOSHINO (R. Dolan) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).
 
Race 7: SUNSHINE COAST FLOORING XTRA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600 M

CASTERLY ROCK – Change of tactics - Intention to ride with cover. After beginning well and being caught wide, was obliged to race in a handy position.
 
RUGBY – Change of tactics - Intention to lead. Slow to begin and settled midfield. Near the 100m, obliged to steady from the heels of FITZROY STREET (J. Bayliss) which shifted in under heavy reading. Jockey J. Bayliss was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).   
 
COOL RUNNING – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
BERTUS – Shifted out on jumping and bumped YOU THINK SO.
 
OLE BAZZLE (NZ) – Momentarily held up between the 300m and 200m. Lost its off-hind plate. When asked to comment on the improved performance, trainer G. Duncan advised he was satisfied with its most recent start, however felt the gelding peaked on its run at the 200m. He also added he had increased OLE BAZZLE’s workload in an endeavor to improve its fitness from its first up effort, however was somewhat surprised with todays win.
 
DESERT LEGEND – Over-raced passing the 800m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
FITZROY STREET (NZ) – Rounding the home turn, improved onto heels and obliged to shift out abruptly. Laid in under pressure near the 100m. Rider J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 50m.
 
YOU THINK SO – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped BERTUS. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
