The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when HANIEL proved difficult to load. JARDIN DE LYS then became fractious in the barriers, kicked out and was declared a late scratching at 6.40pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets placed on JARDIN DE LYS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

SUPER DAISY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Cast the off fore plate in running.

LIMERO – Stewards questioned jockey J. Guthmann-Chester on both the tactics adopted and the performance of the gelding. He stated that from the wide barrier he had been instructed that, as there was good pace in the race, to attempt to obtain cover, however, during the early stages it became apparent he would be caught wide and he immediately restrained the gelding to last. Shortly afterwards, the gelding was under pressure in order to remain in contact with the main body of the field and failed to quicken at any stage. Jockey Guthmann-Chester attributed this to being at the tail of the field and LIMERO settling too well. Trainer S. Kendrick confirmed the instructions and expressed disappointment in the performance and advised he would report back to Stewards if anything came to light that may explain the gelding’s performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
