Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards considered an objection lodged by E.Lang rider of second placed DARK ARTS against first placed RUINS OF ROME (K.Wilson-Taylor), alleging interference in the home straight. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the patrol footage, established that RUINS OF ROME was inclined to shift out over the final 200m and did dictate the line of DARK ARTS. When considering the interference stewards were of the opinion that although RUINS OF ROME did shift out and momentarily initiate contact with DARK ARTS near the 75m mark, that the interference was minimal and could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred DARK ARTS would have finished ahead of RUINS OF ROME at the conclusion of the event and correct weight was given on the judges numbers.
