GENERAL

RACE 1: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST CLASS 4 HANDICAP   1000 M

SHAKO - Had to be restrained from the weakening QUEEN OF A HAND from the 500m and was then held up for a short distance until near the 450m.
 
QUEEN OF A HAND - Over the concluding stages, jockey R Dolan eased QUEEN OF A HAND out of the event, subsequently the mare became awkward in its stride and collapsed, on arrival by the race day veterinarian, QUEEN OF A HAND was pronounced deceased. Postmortem samples were taken, and QUEEN OF A HAND was sent to undergo an autopsy. The Queensland Ambulance Service attended to jockey R Dolan, and he was monitored on course. Jockey R Dolan was advised that he would be now stood down in accordance with the QRIC concussion protocol for 12 days and would require a medical clearance and to undergo a concussion test prior to him riding again.
 

RACE 2: STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS CLASS 1 HANDICAP   1000 M
 
BRUTAL BOWLER  - Tightened for room and checked at the start when TERRITORY TASH shifted in.
 
SUNLIGHT MAJESTY - Slow to begin.
 
TERRITORY ASH - Shifted in onto BRUTAL BOWLER on jumping. Held up when rounding home turn behind the tiring LOMBARDI LASS and continued to have difficulty securing clear running until near the 250m.
 
BETTA BEING SINGLE - Shifted out under pressure from 400m onwards.
 
TIME OF MY LIFE - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
THE SOUR - Raced wide.
 
CRUMPETS - Began awkwardly, shifted out onto TIME OF MY LIFE. Raced wide.  

RACE 3: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP      1200 M

BOTANICA - Bumped with JUNGLE FEVER on jumping. Inconvenienced and forced to shift in near the 1000m when COLLEANO shifted in. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Over the concluding stages was placed in restricted room when THE BEAR shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Subsequently, was then obliged to take hold to avoid the heels of COLLEANO which shifted out, apprentice F Sandkuhl was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount.
 
KEEPMEINTHELOPE - Raced wide.
 
GOLD FEVER - Slow to begin. After passing the 1000m was obliged to restrain from the heels of FLYING SHELLY when that horse was checked. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m.
 
JUNGLE FEVER - Bumped with BOTANICA on jumping.
 
FLOSS'S ONE - Near 900m, was obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance when KEEPMEINTHELOPE shifted in. Raced wide. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
MOOTESSA - After passing the 600m, shifted in across the heels of JUNGLE FEVER and had to be steadied before becoming unbalanced for a number of strides.
 
FLYING SHELLY - Near the 1000m was obliged to be checked when
COLLEANO shifted in onto BOTANICA which was taken in. Apprentice F Sandkuhl was charged pursuant to AR131(a) in that she allowed COLLEANO to shift in at a point approaching the 1000m when not sufficiently clear of BOTANICA, taking that horse in onto FLYING SHELLY which was obliged to be checked and lost its rightful running. Apprentice F Sandkuhl’s license to ride in races was suspended for seven (7) days to commence midnight 14/12/2025 and to conclude midnight 21/12/2025. Apprentice F Sandkuhl was advised of her rights to appeal. Over raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.


RACE 4: JPI LININGS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP          1200 M

GAMADALE NIP - Jockey J Murphy reported that his mount over raced in the middle stages of the event when the pace slackened. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 400m.
 
DUKE OF LANCASTER - DUKE OF LANCASTER was declared a late scratching at 3:25pm on veterinary advice. Trainer A Robinson was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to accepting the gelding for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
INQUISITOR - Steadied near the 800m to avoid the heels of EAST WEST MISS which shifted in. Jockey C Collis was advised to exercise more care for this incident.
 
STAR VENTURE - Over raced in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear running until near the 150m.  
 
BRAVE JET  - Began very awkwardly, unbalancing its rider. Raced wide.
 
EAST WEST MISS  - Inclined to hang in, in the straight.
 
RIVA D'AMOR - Raced wide.
 
SHOW ME THE STARS - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out rounding the home turn.         

RACE 5: ACCESS INSULATION FRASER COAST OPEN HANDICAP   1000 M
 
I AM ARTIE - Slow to begin.
 
RISE OF THE MASSE - Obliged to steady near the 100m when THELWELL shifted in under pressure. Apprentice O Webb was advised to exercise more care for this incident.
 
MR GALAZI  - Raced wide.
 
THELWELL - A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


RACE 6: KIRSTY PATTEN 60 NOT OUT CLASS 4 HANDICAP          1800 M

HOLY FLASH - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
KERKORIAN - Began extremely awkwardly causing apprentice M Philpot to become extremely unbalanced and was dislodged shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Following this incident, apprentice M Philpot was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service on course. Stewards advised apprentice Philpot that she was required to provide a doctors certificate prior to riding again. Trainer J Bayliss was advised that KERKORIAN would now require two (2) barrier certificates, one of which must be in an official trial prior to accepting for a future race.


RACE 7: STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS MAIDEN HANDICAP   1100 M
 
FRENCH LINER - FRENCH LINER was declared a late scratching at 8:26pm on veterinary advice. Trainer A Boyd was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to accepting the gelding for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
COL BURN - Over raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Over the concluding stages shifted out under pressure when not clear of KUIA MA.
 
KUIA MA - Prior to the running of this race, apprentice M Philpot was undergoing assessments by the Queensland Ambulance Service and considering the impact the incident had and with such a short turn around in time between races. Stewards opted to replace apprentice M Philpot on KUIA MA with apprentice O Webb. Began awkwardly. Obliged to check when COL BURN shifted in over the concluding stages. Jockey B Thompson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that as the rider of COL BURN he failed to stop riding and straighten his mount when shifting out under pressure, when not sufficiently clear of KUIA MA, causing the rider of KUIA MA to check to avoid the heels of COL BURN. Jockey B Thompson’s license to ride in races was suspended for twelve (12) days to commence midnight 13/12/2025 and to conclude midnight 25/12/2025. Jockey B Thompson was advised of his rights to appeal.
