Stewards inquired into a complaint lodged by Sample Collection Official Mr O Lochtenberg, regarding the conduct of trainer David Murphy following the running of Race 7. After taking evidence from both parties along with Sample Collection Official Ms Leigh Chaplin and Steward Ms Alison Schofield, Stewards adjourned the inquiry.
This matter was reconvened on Thursday December 11, 2025 and Mr Murphy was subsequently found guilty of a charge under AR 228(c) in that as a licensed trainer he did conduct himself improperly on 30/11/25 following the running of Race 7 at Sunshine Coast Turf Club he did use inappropriate and foul language toward Sample Collection Official Mr Lochtenberg, whilst he was attempting to collect a sample from BELLE AFFAIR, a horse Mr Murphy trains. After considering the circumstances of this case, Mr Murphy’s personal circumstances, prior record and recent disciplinary precedent for this rule, Mr Murphy was fined the sum of $500, however acting under to provisions of AR283(5), Stewards ordered that $300 of this fine be suspended for a period of 2 years on the condition that Mr Murphy is not found guilty of a similar offence during this period.
