RACE 1: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA CLASS 1 PLATE 2200 Metres
OPTIMUS MAXIMUS – Over raced whilst leading in the early stages.
REVELAIDE - Raced wide for the majority.
FRIJOLES – Over raced whilst leading in the early stages.
O'EXPLOSIVE – Slow to begin. When attempting to improve to the inside of the weaking OPTIMUS MAXIMUS became awkward near the 600m and shifted in and away from that runner brushing the running rail and losing ground as a result.
HIGHLAND KITTY – Began awkwardly. Near the 400m, when attempting to improve between FRIJOLES and MAKAMAE which shifted in, then shifted in and away from MAKAMAE and as result was disappointed for that run and was obliged to shift out across heels to obtain clear running.
RACE 2: HIGGINS COATINGS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when MILESTONE became fractious in the barriers and became momentarily cast. MILESTONE and TARA’S REWARD which was drawn alongside, underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to start. MILESTONE then proved difficult to load. Trainer J. Healy was advised that MILESTONE will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
LARADO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SUNLIGHT MAJESTY – Slow to begin.
HEY DAISY – Cast the off fore plate.
HANNABANA – Began awkwardly. Rider C. Graham reported that her mount raced very greenly throughout.
REVITUP CHARLIE – Passing the 700m, whilst over racing, had to be steadied from the heels of HANNABANA which shifted in whilst racing greenly. Near the 250m, shifted out and away from HANNABANA which shifted out.
RACE 3: CLUB MOOLOOLABA BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
TONNEOFGRIT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 250m. At the 250m, was allowed to improve and clipped the heels of KING OF THE JUNGLE and became awkward as a result. Apprentice B. Youngberry was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in allowing her mount to improve onto heels at that point.
KING OF THE JUNGLE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial abrasions to both hindlegs consistent with being galloped on.
KING SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout.
APOLLO TEN – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
RACE 4: KAWANA SLSC CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1300 Metres
THE BEAR – Apprentice O. Webb reported that the gelding raced greenly in the early stages.
ROCHEDALE HERO – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m.
MAIKROW – Slow to begin.
LOVE TO TORQUE – Hung out rounding the home turn. Rider C. Collis could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the Kendrick stable regarding the performance in the coming days.
LADY WINDERMERE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
RACE 5: MOFFAT BEACH BREWING CO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
ONE BEAT NO BEAT – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after becoming fractious enroute to the barriers. Trainer M. Currie was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre race manners. Began awkwardly. When asked to comment, apprentice R. Thorburn could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance apart from the gelding being quite agitated pre race which may have impacted its performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers’ representative J. Leech was advised that a reprimand would be issued pursuant to AR165 for removing a horse from the course within the required 30 minutes after race time.
OKESUTORA – Over raced in the early stages.
SACRED BULL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m in order to obtain clear running.
KAFFIR LILY – Over raced whilst being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Continued to race ungenerously until leaving the 1200m.
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Began awkwardly.
RACE 6: BEN LIDDELL CONSTRUCTIONS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
ARTSPACE (NZ) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and continued to have difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight when CHAYSE’N’LEISA shifted out. After passing the 300m, when attempting to improve between CHAYSE’N’LEISA and SAVVY BEE, was then placed in restricted room near the 200m between those runners when both horses shifted ground and as a result was directed to the outside of the heels of SAVVY BEE in an attempt and secured clear running approaching the 50m.
CHEERS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Improved onto heels approaching the 50m and was held up for the remainder of the event.
PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Fractious in the barriers and as a result was significantly slow to begin. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
KNOWITALL FRANK – Slow to begin.
PRINCETON AWARD – Slow to begin.
SAVVY BEE (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers. Trainers’ representative for the M. Currie stable was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.
VANCITY – Raced wide in the early stages.
RACE 7: TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres
STORM IN SEATTLE – Raced wide throughout.
CRYPTIC BEAUTY – Shifted out near the 450m in order to secure clear running and brushed GENUINE ARTICLE. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ENERGIA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 300m.
GEITZ – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
GENUINE ARTICLE – Raced wide throughout. When inclined to hang out near the 450m, was forced wider when CRYPTIC BEAUTY shifted out to secure clear running. Bumped after passing the 400m when HEAD OF THE RIVER shifted out to improve. Jockey T. Brooker reported that the filly was field shy throughout.
HEAD OF THE RIVER – Raced wide throughout. Shifted out passing the 400m and bumped GENUINE ARTICLE.
KAMIGAMO (NZ) – Inconvenienced on jumping.
