SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
GOLD COAST TURF CLUB - SATURDAY 10th JANUARY 2026, RACE 2: AQUIS GOLD PEARL QTIS 2YO FILLIES 1100M
 
Since being reported that INHABIT was to be spelled following the race, connections have reassessed that decision and decided to continue on with the filly’s current preparation.
 
SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 9th JANUARY 2026 – RACE 5
 
The trainer representative for ONE BEAT NO BEAT reported that following the disappointing performance, the horse had recovered well from the event and the stable is of the opinion the horse did not appreciate racing in a cross-over noseband, and they will be removing that piece of gear prior to its next start.
 
SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 9th JANUARY 2026 – RACE 4
 
The trainer representative for LOVE TO TORQUE reported that the filly had recovered well from this start and could offer no explanation for the performance and at this stage planned to continue with the current preparation.


GENERAL
 
Trainer R. Pereira was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of M. Du Plessis on DUBBLE HUSSLE in Race 6.


RACE 1: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M

ABRAHAM – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SILVER STREAK – Resaddled upon arrival at the barriers.
 
TAM NA GHAR (NZ) – Hampered at the start.
 
STEADY ON – Bumped and steadied shortly after the start.

BUTWEDID – Slow to begin.
 
BETTER NOT SLIP – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, Jockey A. Mallyon advised he would have been happy to obtain cover, however when the filly began well from the inside barrier, he was content to allow the horse to stride forward and held the lead as a result.
 
FACTNOT FICTION – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
PLATYPUS – Held up on entering the home turn until the 300m and was again obliged to alter course near the 200m when TAM NA GHAR shifted ground.
 
PARISIENNE PIPER – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.

CITY BOUND – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered TAM NA GHAR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of heat-stress. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised the gelding will need to obtain a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 

RACE 2: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1800 M

SAN GABRIEL (NZ) – Over-raced in the middle stages. Bumped near the 250m when LIVALITTLE shifted out. Jockey D. Moor advised stewards that he had suggested to connections that the horse may have come to the end of its preparation and may take benefit from having a spell.

LIVALITTLE (NZ) – After passing the 400m, had difficulty securing clear running before shifting out and bumping with SAN GABRIEL near the 250m, obtaining clear running a short distance later.
 
ENTERPRISE LASSIE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 

RACE 3: CALOUNDRA RSL CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200 M

TOO MANY THOUGHTS became fractious in the tie-up stalls pre-race and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hind leg. TOO MANY THOUGHTS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:45pm. Trainer M. Currie was advised the gelding will need to obtain a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
 
BEWS – Hampered at the start and lost ground.
 
WAR DRAMA (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped BEWS.
 
BOLD JULIUS – Shifted in momentarily near the 850m despite the efforts of its rider.
 
THATS ARCHIES GIRL – Slow to begin. Near the 850m, was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of BOLD JULIUS which shifted in. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

WHISKEY DANCER – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered BEWS.
 
ZINGALONG - Blundered at the start.
 

RACE 4: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately four minutes when ROYAL DIPLOMAT became fractious in the barriers and MISS ADRIFT became cast in the barriers, with MISS ADRIFT then becoming loose behind the barriers. ROYAL DIPLOMAT was examined by the veterinarian and was cleared to start. Stewards subsequently advised trainer D. Bell that ROYAL DIPLOMAT would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate. MISS ADRIFT subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 2:47pm. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was advised the filly would be required provide a veterinary certificate and further barrier certificate prior to racing again. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on MISS ADRIFT to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st - OZZIE INVADER – 42c win, 30c place.
2nd – KURITHEA – 22c place.
3rd – TURBO TORQUE – 31c place.
 
 
LAKELAND – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground.
 
OZZIE INVADER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
RUSTY TYCOON – Slow to begin. Obliged to alter course near the 200m in order to secure clear running.
 
ROYAL DIPLOMAT – Over-raced in the early stages.  
 
TURBO TORQUE – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
KURITHEA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten at a point near the 100m.

ILKLEY ROAD – Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 1200m.
 
SHE LOVES ME – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
ROCKING FROCKS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 

RACE 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 M

THE LITTLE PUMPER – Near the 800m, was obliged to steady from the heels of LUTON HOO which was taken in at that point when REZONE shifted in to obtain cover. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m.
 
TAVIS TOWN (NZ) – Bumped near the 300m and became awkward when LUTON HOO shifted out.

ABSOLUTE SUNSHINE – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
LUTON HOO (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 300m and when shifting out to obtain clear running near the 300m, became awkward when bumping with TAVIS TOWN.

CALL ME LEGEND – Began awkwardly and blundered shortly after the start.
 
LIKEABEEL – Slow to begin.
 
REZONE – Jockey D. Moor reported it had been his intention to ride in a more forward position, however when caught wide during the early stages he elected to restrain in order to obtain cover.
 
TANGO QUEEN (NZ) – Reared in the barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. The representative for A. & R. Archibald was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its barrier manners. Following the running of this race, Jockey H. Van Der Hoven reported he had dislocated a finger on his right hand during the event and was subsequently examined by the QAS and advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.


RACE 6: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP         1200 M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately five minutes when RYLOV refused to proceed to the barriers. RYLOV was declared a late scratching at 4:02pm. Trainer R. Dart was advised the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on RYLOV to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – ITALIAN DANCER – 10c win,12c place
2nd – TOUCHOFCLASS - 10c place
3rd – DAINTREE DREAMING - 14c place
 
 
BOLD AS BRASS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered PEE BEE NOIR.
 
PEE BEE NOIR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start after having raced in the previous five days. Hampered at the start.
 
KETTLEBELL – Raced three-wide until the 700m.
 
LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Obliged to steady near the 400m when THIEM (K. Zechner) shifted out to improve. Jockey K. Zechner was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).
 
TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice Jockey O. Webb was advised to exercise greater care and to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.  
 
DUBBLE HUSSLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start after having raced in the previous five days. Began awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped by PEE BEE NOIR which was hampered by BOLD AS BRASS, and as a result lost ground.
