GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 8. M. Rodd +1kg
 
Stewards approved the late gear request for the application of blinkers on CHAYSE ‘N’POP in race 1.
 
Following jockey R. Dolan being stood down after Race 4, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Raceday Summary.
 
Co-trainers A. and R. Archibald were fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider for SPACE TRACKER in Race 8.
 
 
 
RACE 1: THE 1. COASTLINE BMW QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP        1000 Metres

STAR OF JAMAICA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CHAYSE ’N’POP.
 
CHAYSE 'N' POP - Bumped on jumping.
 
DUSTEE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HARRY'S BACK – Slow to begin.
 
CAUSE SHE CAN – Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
HOT IMAGE – Slow to begin, shifted out abruptly and lost ground. Near the 700m, raced in restricted room to the inside of DUSTEE, which shifted in and away from CANYA ZIPIT, whilst racing greenly. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly.  


RACE 2: THE 2. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP          2200 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes when LET FLY, which commenced to buck enroute to the barriers before stumbling and dislodging O. Webb and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.54pm after galloping a considerable distance before being recaptured.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets be refunded on LET FLY with the following deductions to apply:
1st ENTERPRISE PRIVATE 7c win, 8c place
2nd PRINCE LEVI 6c place
3rd TECHNA 9c place
 
Co-trainer C. Geran was advised that LET FLY must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Following this incident, apprentice Webb reported some discomfort in her left calf.

TEXAS FIREBALL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 200m, inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of JENNI MOREESE which shifted out under riding. Jockey J. Bayliss, rider of JENNI MOREESE, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding. Rider A. Mallyon reported that the gelding raced keenly in the early stages however when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
PRINCE LEVI – Began awkwardly.
 
ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Bumped shortly after start. Shifted out and bumped TECHNA near the 400m when attempting to improve. Cast the off fore plate.  

FARWEST – Commenced to weaken from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Co-trainer M. Sears was advised of the provisions of the Racing Australia code of practice for cardiac arrythmia and advised that FARWEST will not be permitted until satisfactory veterinary clearances are provided to Stewards.
 
JENNI MOREESE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.  
 
GOOD PHILLY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of JENNI MOREESE. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.  
 
TECHNA – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped rounding the home turn by ENTERPRISE PRIVATE which shifted out to improve.
 
PAPAL MISS - Raced in restricted room near the 500m. Trainer V. Venkaya was advised that a warning would be placed on the pre race manners of PAPAL MISS after the mare was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.


 
RACE 3: THE X3. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1800 Metres

LAST CHANCE SALOON – Shifted out and bumped FIRE AND LIGHT entering the home straight.

ARIZONA DREAMING – Over raced during the early stages.
 
FOUR ACE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

POWER PACK – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIRE AND LIGHT – Bumped by LAST CHANCE SALOON on entering the home straight.

FLYING ROTHE – Over raced in the early stages.  


RACE 4: THE X5. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1200 Metres

ESTRONDO – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
STREAK OF WINNING – Slow to begin
 
STRATIFIED -  Raced wide throughout.

DREAM LANTERN – Laid in under pressure over the final 50m. When asked to comment on the performance and the tactics adopted, apprentice J. Williams advised Stewards that from the wide barrier he was instructed to take up a position with cover, which resulted in him settling at the rear of the field. He further added that when he placed the mare under pressure in the home straight, DREAM LANTERN had a tendency to lay in and took some time to get balanced, however, finished the race off strongly over the final 100m. Apprentice Williams also advised Stewards that from a better barrier he would expect the mare to settle in a more forward position that that of today’s event.
 
SIRKEL – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Clipped heels and blundered rounding the home turn, dislodging rider R. Dolan. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have fractured its nearside shoulder and was subsequently humanely euthanised. Jockey Dolan was assessed by QAS and stood down from his remaining engagements. After taking evidence, Stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter until a time when jockey Dolan is available to give evidence.
 
SIZZLING GAL – Began awkwardly.

RACE 5: THE M2. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP   1600 Metres
 
DEMON DARB – Bumped on jumping.
 
CUNNAMULLA FELLA – When asked to comment on the performance, rider D. Thornton reported that when placed under pressure, the gelding failed to quicken as anticipated, and in his opinion raced flat. Trainer R. Heathcote advised Stewards that it was his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Jockey R. Maloney reported that the gelding failed to travel from the 800m and when placed under pressure was disappointing, and in his opinion, did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer T. Sears advised that they will have the stable veterinarian examine the gelding and report back to Stewards.
 
CAPITAL ASSET – Began awkwardly.


RACE 6: NEUE KLASSE. COASTLINE BMW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP      1200 Metres

THE BEAR – Began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped with FINANCIALLY FAMOUS and as a result lost ground. Over raced during the early stages. Apprentice O. Webb reported that after beginning poorly, she was obliged to settle further back than anticipated.  
 
FABULANTES – Settled further back with cover from the wide gate. Rider D. Moor reported that from the wide barrier, in an effort to obtain cover, he was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated.  
 
BANG STICK – Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Button advised he would report back to Stewards if anything came to light in regards to the gelding’s performance.
 
FINANCIALLY FAMOUS – Bumped on jumping.  
 
CUDDLES FOR KIMMY – Near the 1000m, steadied when tightened for room by BANG STICK which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Near the 900m, raced in restricted room to the inside of BANG STICK which improved onto the heels of READY FOR AIMEE. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
BETTER NOT SLIP – Raced wide until the 700m.
 
BRUTAL MISS – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Newman reported that her mount over raced in the early and middle stages. She further added that she was somewhat disappointed in the finishing effort of the filly, adding that the tempo of the race may not have suited BRUTAL MISS. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MRS GOLDBERG – Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
PRONTO PERCY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


RACE 7: M POWER. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP      1400 Metres
 
CALICO JACK – Near the 200m, raced in restricted room between BENGAL DIAMOND and KICKATINALONG which laid out before being corrected by its rider.
 
BOHEMIAN LAD – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short in front. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that BOHEMIAN LAD would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
FRENCH ENDEAVOUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI CROWN – Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
RUINS OF ROME – Raced wide throughout.

BLUEPINOT – Slow to begin.

ARABIAN ROSE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure on entering the home straight.
 
PIERATA'S GEM – Shifted in on jumping and bumped ARABIAN ROSE.
 
BENGAL DIAMOND – Hampered and lost ground. Improved onto heels near the 350m and was obliged to shift in. Rider G. Cartwright reported that after being hampered at the start and losing ground she was obliged to settle further back than anticipated.  
 
KICKATINALONG – Laid out under pressure near the 200m.
 
TOO MANY THOUGHTS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure near the 150m.


RACE 8: COASTLINE BMW SUNSHINE COAST CUP          1400 Metres

OUGHTON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUBRICATION – Rider A. Mallyon reported that the gelding was disappointing adding that LUBRICATION was fractious pre race and in his opinion, may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
PEREILLE – Laid out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
ANEMACORE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
SPACE TRACKER (IRE) – Began awkwardly.

OUR MAGNUS – Near the 150m, steadied when placed in restricted room between CHIEF WITNESS which shifted out and ROCKRIBBED.
 
ESJAY – Shifted out on jumping. Laid out from the 600m. Laid in near the 350m before being corrected by its rider. Laid out near the 150m before being corrected by its rider.
 
CHIEF WITNESS – Hampered on jumping. Near the 150m, carried out marginally by ESJAY.


RACE 9: 100% ELECTRIC. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP            1200 Metres

IT'SOURTIME – Raced wide throughout.

BATTLEFIELD – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
HATCHET – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 150m.

MILLANE – Raced wide the majority.

NED'S GULLY – Near the 1000m, had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of ZOUPERB which was steadied and taken in by POCKET FULL who was carried in by HELL which shift in when not fully clear. Apprentice J. Williams, rider of HELL, was advised to exercise further care. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
ZOUPERB – Eased near the 100m when awkwardly placed at the heels of POCKET FULL. Raced in restricted room near the 100m.

JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) – Hampered on jumping. Shortly after the start was crowded for room and forced inwards by BATTLEFIELD which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey C. Collis, rider of BATTLEFIELD, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
POCKET FULL – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

BEWS - Hampered on jumping. Over raced in the middle stages.


RACE 10: THE M5. COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP   1000 Metres
 
KRAKARIB – Began extremely awkwardly resulting in apprentice C. Sutherland’s saddle slipping back. Near the 800m, commenced to race ungenerously due to the saddle slipping and as a result was eased out of the event by its rider.
 
SMILING ZAC (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE FIXER – Slow to begin. Leaving the 200m, was obliged to alter course in order to improve.
 
PORT ERIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
VINDICTA – Laid in under pressure near the 150m and had to be corrected by its rider. Apprentice E. Lang reported that the gelding is better suited when able to lead, and also in her opinion resents racing between runners. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.  
 
LAYDOWNLILY – Slow to begin. Near the 100m, shifted in and brushed SUPER DAISY.
 
SUPER DAISY – Brushed near the 100m by LAYDOWNLILY.
 
MOONHAVEN – Slow to begin.
