GENERAL
As riders D. Turner, K. Wilson-Taylor and apprentice S. Wilcock were not riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Meeting Summary Report.
Race 4. Trainer N. Hemmings was fined $500 pursuant to AR99(1)(a) for presenting the incorrect horse to the racecourse resulting in the late scratching of RAINSITPOURS.
Race 4. and Race 6. Trainer T. Churchill was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting both SHELLY’S ACE and KHANT QUIT with concussion plates which are not part of both horses’ advertised gear.
Race 5. Jockey K. Wilson-Tayor was fined $100 pursuant to AR127(1) for failing to fulfill an engagement in race 5.
RACE 1:COASTLINE BMW MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
SORTED – Began awkwardly and lost ground, with jockey P. Hamblin temporarily losing use of his offside stirrup iron. When asked to comment, jockey P. Hamblin advised that the gelding would benefit from the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AWARDED DIFFERENCE - Began awkwardly.
OLE ALI – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
VERBALIZE – Jockey J. Bayliss reported that his mount raced greenly during the early stages when being ridden forward to the lead.
ALKENTER – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 2: DIGITAL VISION DIRECT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
MR HILTON – After passing the 900m, was directed out in an attempt to avoid heels and in doing so, initiated heavy contact with PRINCE PIER causing both horses to become unbalanced until leaving the 800m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
PRINCE PIER – Bumped and became unbalanced passing the 900m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
LET'S GET BUSY – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage on the rain effected conditions.
BOOMTOWN LADDIE – Connections advised of a change of tactics – to be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced wide throughout.
LEAN WARRIOR – After obtaining cover passing the 900m then over raced when the pace of the race slackened then had to be checked from heels.
SEA VOYAGE – Began awkwardly.
WAR IS BRUTAL – Began awkwardly.
BLUE WHITE BLUE – Over raced during the early stages and then obliged to check from heels passing the 800m.
ZOU ZOU SHARGUSA – Raced wide throughout.
OAKFIELD MONTANA – Slow to begin.
MEADE'S CAFÉ – Trainer D. Murphy was reprimanded pursuant to LR42 for failing to lodge a stable return to reflect that MEADE’S CAFÉ had been gelded. Over raced during the early stages.
RACE 3: JST WILLO INVESTMENTS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
PULVERISER – Approaching the 1200m, obliged to steady from the heels of ITALIAN DANCER when that runner was being restrained. Then continued to over race at heels until leaving the 1000m.
ITALIAN DANCER – Leaving the 1300m, steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of NINJITZOU which was taken in my FAMILY OF LEAGUE.
NINJITZOU – Near the 100m, obliged to alter course and shift in to avoid the heels of PULVERISER when both runners shifted ground.
LINTHORPE LUCK – Slow to begin.
RACE 4: DCM BUILDING DESIGN CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
CONTILDA'S LOVE – Cast the near hind plate.
TURN UP THE MUSIC – Raced wide throughout.
RALOS STAR – Rider M. Du Plessis reported that the gelding raced like it had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. Harris concurred with jockey M. Du Plessis and advised Stewards that RALOS STAR would now be sent for a spell.
TERRITORY ASH – Raced wide throughout.
RIVA D'AMOR – Held up for clear running from entering the home straight until leaving the 200m.
SHELLY'S ACE – After passing the 200m, was inconvenienced when obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of RIVA D’AMOR which shifted in to obtain clear running.
RACE 5: INNOVATIVE PLANNING SOLUTIONS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
BETTERINDANUDE – A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Trainer P. Wallace reported that it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Wallace that BETTERINDANUDE will be required to trial to satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
CRYPTIC BEAUTY - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
WAX ON WAX OFF - Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the right hindleg.
SPIES ON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Whilst held up on entering the home straight, shifted out and initiated contact with ELUSIVE DOMINA, before being held up until approaching the 200m.
AVE CANTARE – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the left foreleg.
ELUSIVE DOMINA – Trainer J. Healy was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting the filly without pre-race ear muffs which are part of its advertised gear. Raced wide throughout. Bumped on rounding the home turn when SPIES ON shifted out.
RACE 6 :JACK BRUCE RACING BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
TAVIS TOWN (NZ) – Trainer P. Duncan was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
EMPIRE OF ART (GER) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
SACRED BULL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Steadied and obliged to alter course when racing between WANDA’S OUTLAW and SEERESS (M. Apel) after being tightened for room when apprentice M. Apel dropped her offside rein whilst shifting ground. Apprentice M. Apel was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
VREDEFORT (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
YOU AND I (NZ) – Slow to begin. When rounding the home turn, forced wider when CHEERFUL CAT shifted out to improve.
WANDA'S OUTLAW – When rounding the home turn, forced wider when CHEERFUL CAT shifted out to improve.
RACE 7: FLYING START SYNDICATIONS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
ARTIFACTX – Shifted out abruptly passing the 200m in order to secure clear running.
VENOM RUSH – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
CROWN GUINEA – Slow to begin.
ZOODOO – Shifted out on jumping.
BIG DEMEANOR – Raced wide throughout.
RAINBOW BEACH – Inconvenienced on jumping when ZOODOO shifted out. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Nevertheless, apprentice K. Johnston was reminded of her obligations in riding her mounts out to the finish and was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b).
RACE 8: TAB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
SAXON KING (GB) – Began awkwardly
GOLDEN MIKKI – Slow to begin. Approaching the 500m, when shifting out to secure clear running and became awkward on heels.
SIR MAURICE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 300m, when shifting ground in order to secure clear running, improved onto the heels of BODHAN and had to be steadied.
A TOUCH FROM FAYT – Trainer L. White was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
BODHRAN – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until near the 300m.
BELLOVE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
PAPER COWBOY – Connections advised of a change of tactics – to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
