SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
There were several rider changes due to the rescheduled Rockhampton meeting today. Rider changes as per the meeting summary report.

Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider declaration for NEVER SAY NAY by the prescribed time.
 
RACE 1:ALL ASPECT SPRAYING MAIDEN HANDICAP          1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed due to CONCLUDED refusing to load in the barriers. Stewards subsequently declared CONCLUDED a late scratching at 12:32pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards declared that all bets placed on CONCLUDED are to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – FUNHOUSE - 12c win, 14c place
2nd – LUCCI - 12c place
Trainer B Healey was advised that CONCLUDED would be required to jump out or trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to accepting for a future race.

SAVASTEEL (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages.   
 
MEASURE UP – Had its hindquarters turned on jumping away when LUCCI began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
PONTEVICO - Raced greenly for the majority of the event, particularly when under pressure un the home straight.
 
FORTYSECONDSTREET - Over raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Apprentice B Wheeler pleaded guilty to a charge and pursuant to AR131(b) in that he failed to ride FORTYSECONDSTREET out to the finish was subsequently fined $400. In assessing penalty, stewards were satisfied that app wheelers actions had cost FORTYSECONDSTREET 5th place.
 
LUCCI – Began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped the hindquarters of MEASURE UP and lost ground. Raced greenly near the 800m became unbalanced and lost ground.    

RACE 2: CELLAR MAINTENANCE AUSTRALIA FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP   1000 M        
 
SHERAQUAY – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn until near the 300m.
 
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Held up rounding the home turn until near the 150m.
 
THE SOUR – Raced wide. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J Bayliss dropped his whip over the concluding stages.
 
BEITSOO – Began awkwardly. Shifted out near the 100m tightening DUCHESS BREE.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running in the home straight, then was obliged to be steadied near the 100m when BEITSOO shifted out. Apprentice C Krahnen was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding for this incident.


RACE 3: THE DENTURE CARE GROUP OPEN HANDICAP          1000 M

KING YOSHI - Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CAMPAI – Whilst weakening in the home straight, was obliged to check when leaving the 100m after being tightened for room to the inside of LAYDOWNLILY which after being held up for clear running, had improved into a tight run to the inside of KING YOSHI before being taken in by KING YOSHI which shifted back towards the rail when corrected by its rider after having laid out earlier in the home straight. A post- race veterinary examination revealed the mare to exhibit signs of tying up and had minor lacerations to the off fore fetlock and was treated by the on-course veterinarian. Trainer S Morrisey was advised a veterinary clearance for CAMPAI would be required prior to accepting for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
THELWELL – Held up from rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.
 
LAYDOWNLILY – Held up rounding the home turn until near the 100m.
 
KING SPIRIT - Raced wide.        

RACE 4: PELICAN MOTORS SERVICE CENTRE CLASS 4 HANDICAP   1000 M

ROYAL COMMODORE – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide.
 
CLICK CLICK BOOM – Slow to begin. Held up from rounding the home turn and continued to be held up before being disappointed for a run when attempting to improve to the of HEART AND SPIRIT which shifted in slightly. Continued to be held up for the remainder of the event and went to the line without being fully tested.   
 
MISSILE ONE – Began awkwardly and bumped with THORMENDOUS. Held up from rounding the home turn until near the 300m.
 
HEART AND SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Apprentice S Tierney reported that her mount raced greenly due to, in her opinion, wearing blinkers for the first time.
 
THORMENDOUS MISS – Raced wide.


RACE 5: TYZAC VACUUM EXCAVATION QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1600 M
 
OUR MATE LOCKY - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped RUSTY TYCOON. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RUSTY TYCOON – Bumped with OUR MATE LOCKY on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PARADISE AS USUAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
JOULNI – Over raced in the middle stages from the heels of RUSTY TYCOON when that horse was restrained.
 
SHIP HAPPENS – Shifter wider from the 800m to improve and raced wider from that point onwards.
 
INQUICKTIME – The R Heathcote stable advised that INQUICKTIME would settle in a more forward position if circumstances permit. When questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative O Peoples said INQUICKTIME is one paced and hasn’t been suited by settling further back in the field over shorter distances. With the step up in distance and the change of tactics to go forward to the lead, they were confident that the horse would show an improved performance.


RACE 6: PROLIQUOR COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP      1000 M
 
LITTLE VISTA – Began awkwardly and shifted out onto NATURALLY LIT.
 
ZANJEER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DARTH INVADER which was taken in onto NATURALLY LIT.
 
COINCIDE – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DARTH INVADER – Taken in onto NATURALLY LIT when ZANJEER began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
NATURALLY LIT – Hampered at the start when COINCIDE began awkwardly and shifted out and ZANJEER began awkwardly, shifted in onto DARTH INVADER which was taken in. Raced wide. Jockey M Rodd reported that NATURALLY LIT over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BABALOLA - Lost the near fore plate in running.


RACE 7: SOMMER'S FUEL SUPPLIES CLASS 1 PLATE          1400 M
 
ALBANIAN BEAUTY - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 400m when GAS BRIGADE shifted out whilst weakening.
 
GAS BRIGADE – Trainer J Coetzee advised that GAS BRIGADE would settle further back with cover. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment on the performance of GAS BRIGADE in today event, jockey D Moor stated that GAS BRIGADE became under pressure 600m from home and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J Coetzee reported that the gelding will now be sent for spell.
 
MR BUBBALUSKI – Shortly after the start shifted out onto KETTLEBELL.
 
KOZAK PRINCE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
KETTLEBELL – Hampered at the start and lost ground when MR BABBALUSKI shifted out.
 
MIDNIGHT MIRACLE – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 400m when GAS BRIGADE shifted out whilst weakening.
 
PRIVATE SHOWTIME – Jockey D Turner reported that in his opinion the mare did not run out a strong 1400m and weakened over the concluding stages.
 
CAFE MOCHA - Slow to begin.


RACE 8: COAST 2 COAST EARTHMOVING BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1200 M

DOWNEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BLAKEMORE AVENUE – Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 300m when obliged to shift out and across the heels of CAPITAL HEART to obtain clear running.
 
BOOM BOOM BELLA – Slow to begin.  
 
ZINGALONG – Inside the 100m improved onto the heels of AMORE VELOCE and had to be steadied.
