SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight requests:
Race 4. A. Sewell +0.5kg
Race 5. D. Boche +1kg
Race 7. Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on BLITZWATER.
RACE 1:BATHERSBY LEGAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
FAWUNDERPAR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 150m.
PARA PARK RUBY – Inclined to lay in under pressure on entering the home straight, and shifted in after passing the 300m having to be steadied from the heels of KATIE AINE which shifted out.
KATIE AINE – Began very awkwardly with rider C. Graham becoming awkward in the saddle and contacting the barrier partition with her left knee. Shifted out under pressure passing the 300m. Following the running of this race, rider C. Graham was assessed by the oncourse medical officer and cleared to take her remaining engagements.
VOLTESSA – Slow to begin.
RACE 2:WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
KADALL – Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the gelding without pre-race earmuffs which are part of its advertised gear.
I MISS MARGIE – Trainer T. Miller was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the mare without a tongue tie which are part of its advertised gear. Slow to begin.
ZINGALONG – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, apprentice K. Johnston reported that she attempted to lead in the early stages however, ZINGALONG was unable to muster sufficient speed to do so. She added that she had recommended to trainer T. Miller to send the gelding for a spell.
RACE 3:OCEANVIEW HELICOPTERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
CRUSADER VOYAGE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.
SOMETHING SHINY – Raced wide until the 600m. Jockey B. Thompson reported the gelding was obliged to work hard to obtain a position outside the lead which may have been detrimental to its finishing effort. He added that in his opinion, SOMETHING SHINY may not have handled the soft track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
HEROIC VILLEN – Over raced in the early stages.
HELL OF A HIGH – Bumped on jumping.
OAKFIELD GALAXY – Held up for clear running on leaving the 600m until the 300m.
BRASS BAND – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 300m.
RACE 4:NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2265 Metres
EL JASOR (IRE) – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground. Raced wide throughout before weakening badly and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Wanless was advised that EL JASOR must officially trial to Stewards’ satisfaction prior to racing again.
LET'S DO IT AGAIN (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, apprentice B. Youngberry reported that in her opinion, the gelding did not travel comfortably on today’s rain effected track conditions. Cast the off fore plate.
CLASSIC DEEL – After passing the 400m, was obliged to steady and alter course after improving onto the heels of the tiring LONESOME SOUL. When asked to comment, apprentice B. Osmond stated that in his opinion, his mount resented racing between other runners.
LONESOME SOUL – Slow to begin. Raced wide until the 1100m.
OLE BAZZLE (NZ) – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground.
RACE 5:NICK & GERRY CLATWORTHY QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 Metres
ITCHINTOGO – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and continued to have difficulty securing clear running until approaching the 200m.
SCARTOON – Began awkwardly.
HIDE THE PIERATA – Jockey D. Moor reported that his mount was beaten for speed in the early stages.
I'LLTELLYOUANYTIME – Began awkwardly, inconvenienced and lost ground. Raced in restricted room near the 200m and had to be steadied when ITCHINTOGO shifted in to secure clear running.
LONESOME STAR – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Laid out for the majority of the event, particularly when under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Wright was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
ZIA MARIA – Began awkwardly.
RACE 6:FINCIERGE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
PYROLYSIS – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
RACKETEER – Over raced in the middle stages when obtaining cover. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until leaving the 300m.
KILONOVA – Slow to begin.
RHETORIC – Blundered on jumping, shifted in and made heavy contact with PYROLYSIS. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 350m.
POINT BE – Commenced to lay out from rounding the home turn, continued to do so under pressure and at a point approaching the 200m, clipped the heels of PYROLYSIS, which stepped in momentarily. Apprentice Tierney was advised in similar circumstances, she should make greater effort to straighten when her mounts are shifting ground.
FAR BEYOND – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground.
STREET DAZZLER – Slow to begin.
RALOS STAR – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
RACE 7:AZURA BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
LOVE TO TORQUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
VOVO – Apprentice F. Sandkuhl was questioned regarding the tempo set for the first 600m of the event. Apprentice Sandkuhl stated that after riding forward to the lead from the wide barrier she attempted to have the mare settle from approaching the 900m, however, VOVO refused to respond at that stage and over raced until the 600m. Trainer M. Hoysted agreed with the comments of apprentice Sandkuhl adding that the mare raced more keenly in today’s event as it was first up from a spell.
OZZIE INVADER – Began awkwardly and bumped.
ZOUSLAYER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
ENCOURAGED – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
RACE 8:TAB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
PUFF 'N' HARRY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
SOUTHBY – Slow to begin.
PIREONTI – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that in his opinion, his mount would appreciate a step up in distant to 1600m.
BUCKENARA – Raced wide throughout.
