SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Ipswich 29/4/26, Race 7
 
Apprentice J McMurray pled guilty pursuant to AR188 (c) in that prior to the running of Race 7 he did attempt to weigh out with an unapproved safety vest. Stewards when considering Mr McMurray’s apprentice status and no prior breach under this rule issued a $400 fine.
 

GENERAL
 
As jockey G. Cartwright was not riding at the meeting and apprentice C. Lowe was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards race day summary. C. Lowe was advised that she would require a medical clearance before riding again.
 
Trainer B. Healy was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of L. Martyn as the rider of RUSTIC TZAR.

 
RACE 1:YOUR CAPABILITY STORE MAIDEN HANDICAP 2200 M
 
HOPEFUL CAUSE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. When asked to comment on the performance, rider B. Wheeler reported that the gelding weakened over the concluding stages and felt that the horse had come to the end of its preparation.
 
BE THY NAME – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice C. Bellamy reported that the gelding was having its first run over 2200m and in her opinion failed to run out the distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CLENCH (NZ) – Shifted wider at the 800m and race wide from that point.   
 
OLE ALI - Change of Tactics; ridden forward on speed. Raced back in the field. Began awkwardly and then crowded for room at the start and as a result was unable to fulfill the change of tactics and settled towards the tail of the field. Near the 1600m was forced wider when KOJAK shifted out and as a result raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
ROTATE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally for the first time. Trainer D. Murphy was advised that ROTATE would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must officially trial, jump out or gallop 1000m satisfactorily, in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
 
ALKEBULAN – Slow to begin.       
 
 
RACE 2: VIBE PR & MARKETING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
CALISTO COMET – Raced keenly in the early stages.                 
 
QUICK RELEASE – Improved onto heels approaching the 500m and had to be steadied. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

SHEZA BOOM – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 700m.

DIAMOND OCEAN – Obliged to steady approaching the 700m when the pace of the race slackened.

BOOM DIAMOND SAGA – Slow to begin. Rider C. Sutherland reported that the filly raced greenly during the event. Co-trainer C. Geran was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.        

RAGING RAIDER – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when WELL GROOMED shifted out.       
 
WELL GROUNDED – Rider M. Rodd reported that the filly raced greenly during the event.

BROOKE'S BLOOMS – Raced keenly in the early stages.      
 
SOLAR RHYTHM – When the pace of the race slackened approaching the 700m, improved onto heels and when being steadied, shifted out inconveniencing SHEZA BOOM, which shifted out. Raced wide from the 700m.       
 
 
RACE 3: AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS & HOSPITALITY TRAINING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
The start of this race was delayed when DRAGON LILLY en-route to the barriers was attempted be restrained when approaching the barriers, became fractious and shifted out abruptly dislodging rider M. Du Plessis and galloped riderless running into the outside course fence, going over this fence before being recaptured after galloping a short distance. Subsequently the filly was declared a late withdrawal at 1:22pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on DRAGON LILY be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st  PRECISE STAR 6c win 4c place
2nd KING EMPEROR 14c place
3rd BONNIE BOUQUET 13c place
 
The race was further delayed when DUN DARTE CHEAP became fractious, reared up and became cast in the barriers. Subsequently the gelding was declared a late withdrawal at 1:28pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monied invested on DUN DARTE CHEAP be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st PRECISE STAR 3c win 2c place
2nd KING EMPEROR 8c place
3rd BONNIE BOUQUET 7c place
 
A post-race veterinary examination of DRAGON LILLY revealed multiple superficial abrasions and lacerations to both forelegs. P. Wallace the trainer of DRAGON LILLY was advised that the filly would require a veterinary clearance and be required to trial or jump out to Stewards satisfaction before being permitted to race again.
 
S. Kendrick the trainer of DUN DARTE CHEAP was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of DUN DARTE CHEAP revealed minor superficial abrasions to both forelegs, the near hind stifle and the presence of blood in both nostrils consistent with striking its head in the barriers.

CORI VERU – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

KAIDA ODORI – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping BONNIE BOUQUET. Lost the off-fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.    

BONNIE BOUQUET – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Apprentice S. Tierney reported the filly over raced in the early stages.

GRANDSTANDER – Had difficulties obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

SEATICUS – Commenced to over race pass 1000m when being restrained to obtain cover. After obtaining cover approaching the 800m behind MISHANI PRINCE, was then obliged to check from heels when the rider of that horse restrained in order to steady the tempo. O. Kendall the rider of MISHANI PRINCE was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Held up for a short distance rounding home turn.

VOLTESSA - Jumped out at the start and bumped BONNIE BOUQUET. Improved onto heels when the pace of the race slackened near the 800m and had to be restrained. Held up for clear running from the 300m until leaving the 200m.
 
 
RACE 4: MAROOCHY RSL CLUB MAIDEN PLATE         1400 M
 
CAMBRIDGE BAY – On pulling up, rider M. Du Plessis had concerns with the geldings near side hindleg and as a result dismounted. A post-race vet examination did not diagnose a specific concern with the action of CAMBRIDGE BAY, however Stewards advised Co-trainer W. Hulbert that he must have his own veterinarian perform investigations on the gelding and report back the findings, of which must be received by Stewards before the horse is permitted to race again.
 
PHOENIX LEGEND – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

I SAY I SAY – Rider A. Butler reported that it was not his intention to lead, that the gelding commenced to race keenly shortly after the start and as a result he permitted it to stride and obtain the lead.         
 
MINI BOO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

TINTAURA – Raced wide throughout.    

WINGEANDWIN (NZ) – Slow to begin and then steadied when placed in restricted room.        
 
 
RACE 5: INDEPTH ACCOUNTING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M

BILLIONAIR BABY – Slow to begin.      
 
WARNA – Approaching the winning post was steadied when ECHO HUNTER (J. McMurray) shifted in marginally. Apprentice J. McMurray was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

ROYAL GLADIATOR – Slow to begin.                     


RACE 6: PISA - PROCUREMENT BY DESIGN BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1600 M
 
RUBYDOO – Awkwardly placed at heels and held up for clear running rounding the home turn.       

AND I AM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.                

SUMMIT – When asked to comment on the performance, rider R. Maloney reported that when placed under pressure in the home straight, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.         

HELL OF A PRINCE – Began awkwardly. Lost the off-hind plate.
 
 
RACE 7: HARLEQUIN BLINDS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
RIVER RIBBLE – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrythmia (1st time). Co-trainer G. Heinrich was advised that RIVER RIBBLE must not start in a further race, official trial, or jump-out until the Stewards have received a satisfactory report from a qualified veterinary surgeon which includes the results of: (a) an electrocardiography (ECG) of more than 60 seconds duration performed by that veterinarian whilst the horse is at rest; and (b) a cardiac auscultation performed by that veterinarian within 15 minutes of the horse completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m.
 
DYAMI – After passing the 700m, laid in despite the efforts of the rider before being steadied. As a result, ESTEEM EM which was following, had to be steadied.                                   
DAZZLING DIAMOND – Over raced badly in the middle stages and had checked from heels near the 600m.

THE SOUR - A post-race veterinary examination which hung out from the 600m revealed no apparent abnormalities.

STEP ALONG - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally. As this was the second occasion in which STEP ALONG had bled, trainer T. Miller was advised that the gelding would incur a lifetime ban from racing under AR79(6).
 
ESTEE EMM – Steadied from heels near the 600m.

 
RACE 8: SUPERSTRETCH 300 LIMOUSINES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
The start of this race was delayed when RUSTIC TZAR was unable to be brought forward to the barriers from the 1600m chute. Subsequently the gelding was declared a late withdrawal at 4:44pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monied invested on RUSTIC TZAR be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st   SEISMIC BOOM 3c win 3c place
2nd MINOR KEY 5c place
3rd BLITZWATER 4c place
 
Trainer B. Healy was advised that RUSTIC TZAR would be required to officially trial or jump out to the Stewards satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again.
 
ENCOURAGED – Jumped out at the start and lost ground. Hung out from the 900m until entering the home straight.    
 
BOOYA BOY – Near the 1100m was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of CHICO CASINO which was taken in by BLITZWATER. Apprentice S. Tierney the rider of BLITZWATER was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

MOROCCAN WIND – Near the 900m was bumped by CUSTO and became unbalanced. Approaching the 700m was checked and lost ground. Rider A. Keeley (CHICO CASINO) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 700m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BOOYA BOY (B. Youngberry) which was forced in tightening CUSTO (D. Peisley) which was forced in tightening MOROCCAN WIND (R. Stewart) onto the running rail, which was checked and lost its rightful running. A. Keeley’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days, commencing midnight 18th July, concluding midnight 29th July 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
        
SEISMIC BOOM – Tightened for room near the 1100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.   

MINOR KEY – Slow to begin and then taken wider by ENCOURAGED which jumped out at the start.        
 
RAGING – Slow to begin. When restrained from heels near the 800m commenced to hang and had to be checked. Improved onto heels near the 600m and was checked.
 
CHICO CASINO – Near the 1100m was steadied.
