Stewards permitted the following overweight:
 
Race 4: Rider D. Moor +1kg (55kg)  
 
 
Trainer D. Hansen was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the raceday declaration of T. Marshall on IT’SALLABOUTMARY in Race 2.
 
Trainer R. Dart was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the raceday declaration of A. Graham on I AM VOODOO in Race 5.
 
 
As rider M. Du Plessis was absent through injury, he was replaced as per the Stewards Raceday Summary. M. Du Plessis was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to returning.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 1 - CHEERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800 M
 
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of third placegetter SHIP HAPPENS to view the patrol footage of the home straight. After viewing the footage, connections decided not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s official numbers.
 

NARUKAMI – Slow to begin.

MISTER BLAZE – Slow to begin.

SHIP HAPPENS – Near the 300m, when laying in, steadied from the heels of FIVE OF US which shifted out slightly.

FIVE OF US – Near the 1500m, raced in restricted room to the inside of NARUKAMI (App. L. Martyn) when inclined to lay in. Apprentice L. Martyn was advised to exercise greater care. Continued to lay in at various stages throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial lacerations to the off fore and near hind.



Race 2 - COCA-COLA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
 
 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately 6 minutes when REVOLUTION TAP became fractious in the barriers and became cast. REVOLUTION TAP underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 1:14pm. Trainer K. Taplin was advised the filly would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Trainer K. Taplin further advised it would now be the likely intention to send REVOLUTION TAP for a spell. The start was then further delayed when NATION became fractious in the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination. The training partnership of T. & M. Sears was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on REVOLUTION TAP to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:

1st - MYNEMESIS – 0c win, 1c place.
2nd – IT’SALLABOUTMARY – 1c place.
3rd – CALISTO COMET – 1c place.
 
 
ARKENDEITH – Raced greenly in the early stages.

MYNEMESIS – Shifted out on jumping and bumped CEDRELA. Held up until approaching the 200m. Laid in over the concluding stages.

NATION – Fractious in the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. The training partnership of T. & M. Sears was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of Nation. Rider D. Moor reported that leaving the 300m, when attempting to shift wider, his mount shifted out abruptly despite his efforts. The training partnership of T. & M. Sears advised they will be considering a gear change prior to its next start.
 
CEDRELA – Bumped at the start. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Approaching the 200m when laying in, steadied from the heels of ARKENDEITH. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.


Race 3 - SPRITE MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
 
 
BARTLE FRERE – Over-raced in the middle stages and steadied from heels approaching the 850m, bumping with LADY BARBAROSSA.     
 
KING EMPEROR – Severely hampered and lost ground at the start. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Near the 350m, bumped by GEILLIS which shifted in when tiring. Laid out under pressure near the 100m. Lost off-hind plate. 

PHOENIX LEGEND – Raced keen early.

SILVER STREAK – Shifted in on jumping and hampered KING EMPEROR.

AMELIORATION – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels near the 600m.

GEILLIS – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Tailed off in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer M. Galloway was advised the mare would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.  

LADY BARBAROSSA – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Bumped near the 850m.     
 
ROSE OF CHANTILLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.



Race 4 - MT FRANKLIN CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800 M
 

MAKAMAE (NZ) – Raced three-wide without cover until near the 800m.
 
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) – Held up until the 300m. 
 
YOU THINK SO – Change of tactics – To race further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.       


Race 5 - RATU RUM BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
 
I AM VOODOO – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.

OUT OF SQUARE – Near the 200m, was obliged to shift out and around the heels of JIMMY’S BROTHER to secure clear running.
 
JIMMY'S BROTHER – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out throughout.

KIWI RAIDER (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping and hampered CAXTON LASS. Apprentice rider L. Martyn advised that in her opinion, her mount did not appreciate today’s racing surface.

CAXTON LASS – Began awkwardly and hampered by KIWI RAIDER, losing ground as a result.       



Race 6 - BATI RUM RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
 
MOROCCAN WIND – Rider J. Bayliss was fined $100 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
ZOUSLAYER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Rider C. Meehan was dislodged while pulling up after the race. C. Meehan was assessed by QAS, including a concussion test, and cleared of any injury. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

EXTREME ALLY – Began awkwardly.

RIVA D'AMOR – Raced three-wide throughout.

KEMAL – Rider M. Rodd reported that in his opinion, his mount did not appreciate today’s track conditions, adding that this likely contributed to the gelding racing greenly in the home straight.

GALLERY MASTER – Approaching the 200m, improved onto heels and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.     
 
APPARATE – Began awkwardly.
 
HARCASION – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.


Race 7 - BILSON'S TANGLE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M
 

ROCHEDALE HERO – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room to the inside of SILVER SMASH.          
 
KILONOVA – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start. Over-raced when attempting to be restrained for cover in the early stages.
 
CARBONARA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered KILONOVA. Over-raced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 100m. Tightened for room approaching the finish when ROCHEDALE HERO laid in slightly.
 
NAVY NINA (NZ) – Laid out in the home straight.       

SILVER SMASH – Rider T. Brooker reported that after being caught wide in the early stages, she allowed her mount to stride forward.

FITZROY STREET (NZ) – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room to the inside of SILVER SMASH.

HALF MOON ROO – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m.     


Race 8 - MONSTER BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
 
OUT OF LUCK – Bumped with CAESER CAKE shortly after the start.
 
CLEARLY GEORGE – Near the 1250m, after being crossed, commenced to shift out to avoid heels and was awkwardly placed between runners for some distance before shifting in, obliging T. Brooker to steady from heels. Apprentice O. Kendal was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding for this incident. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m.

KAFFIR LILY – Near the 1250m, steadied from heels before being bumped by UCELLE which shifted out.

BADDA BOOM BABY – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.  

VREDEFORT (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. Improved onto heels rounding the home turn and was steadied.

PIGGIETALES – Change of tactics – To race further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.

CAESAR CAKE – Bumped with OUT OF LUCK shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off hind. Trainer G. Forge was advised the mare will need to obtain a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.

UCELLE – Rider T. Brooker reported it was the intention to settle further forward, however after beginning only fairly, was obliged to settle further back than expected.

O'EXPLOSIVE – Slow to begin.
