GENERAL
Due to jockey Cheryl Rogers being ill, Darren Evans was the approved rider replacement. Ms Rogers was advised that a medical clearance is required prior to resuming riding.
 
RACE 1: SPRINGSURE RURAL Class 3 Handicap 1000 METRES
 
LUNAR EIGHT – Began awkwardly.
 
MANHATTAN THUNDER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HOFFMAN – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.
 
SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SWEET ABOUT ME – Trainer C Storch was reprimanded for presenting the mare to the mounting yard not wearing blinkers which is part of the correctly notified gear. In adopting this approach, stewards were mindful that the trainer had never breached the rule in relation to gear presentation in the past. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
RACE 2: DOOLEYS TAVERN & MOTEL QTIS Maiden Plate 1100 METRES
 
LISTING CAPITAL – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed at the heels of SHOW ME THE DOUGH close to the finish and was unable to be fully tested over the final few strides.
 
PANZER READY – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.
 
SUDDEN STRIKE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WILLBEKING – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Jockey D Evans was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 10 times in total.
 
SHOW ME THE DOUGH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having started in a race for an extended period and was cleared to start. Laid in under pressure on occasions in the home straight.
 
RACE 3: ROLLESTON OPEN CUT OPEN Handicap 1100 METRES
 
JUST SUPER – Raced wide throughout.
 
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Become unbalanced for a few strides approaching the 100m.
 
WRITTLE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE SMASHES – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J Miller explained that he attributed the disappointing performance to the mare having to race wide for the entirety of the event having drawn the outside barrier.
 
THE SQUIRE – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out under pressure on occasions in the home straight.
 
KARIACTION – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
A LOT OF BOOTY – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.05pm after having been kicked in the float enroute to the course and being lame in the left hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
 
RACE 4: QUBE BULK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 METRES
 
SUMMER SIZZLING – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and near the 150m shifted in and briefly hampered GIGI FILLE. Apprentice J Miller was advised to ensure his mounts maintain a straight course when under riding in similar circumstances.
 
PANDA DRUM – Laid in under pressure over the final 300m. Jockey E Bell advised that despite her efforts PANDA DRUM was unable to obtain a closer position in the early and middle stages due to the fast tempo and her mount would be better suited to races of a further distance.
 
TIME TO TESTIFY – Began awkwardly.
 
GIGI FILLE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Briefly hampered near the 150m when SUMMER SIZZLING shifted in under pressure.
 
PAMPUNI – Blundered at the start. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRINCE CARLOS – Raced wide early. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
RACE 5: COLIN MEEK MEMORIAL SPRINGSURE CUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 METRES
 
SHOALWATER BAY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TRICKY BEANS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
STRATIFIED – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BADGE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide early. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 2.40pm when a veterinary examination upon arrival at the course revealed lameness to the right hind leg. Trainer A Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
 
RANGI TOA (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
