Stood flat footed as the start was affected and lost ground. Trainer J Brown was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. LONGSHOT LIZZIE- Performed below market expectations. Jockey N Masuda advised that, in his opinion, the mare never travelled well throughout the event. Trainer T Dougall advised that he was disappointed with the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer Dougall undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent regarding the mares condition in the coming days.

PENNYWORTH- Raced keenly leaving the 800m. Shifted in under pressure down the running becoming awkwardly placed on heels over the concluding stages before becoming crowded passing the winning post.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of 3rd place getter PENNYWORTH to review the footage of the concluding stages. After viewing the footage Connections elected not to proceed with any objection and Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.

Following the running of this event Stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected a section of the track between the 800-600m. On inspection it was identified that in the area of the 700-650m the racing surface was deteriorating more so than the remainder. Club officials undertook to perform remedial works between races for the remainder of the day to mitigate this issue.

Race 3: QUEENSLAND COUNTRY BANK STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

Prior to the declaration of correct weight connections of 2nd placegetter LYNRIC LASS lodged an objection against 1st placegetter DREAMSEEKER alleging interference down the home straight. After taking evidence from the riders and connections involved and viewing the patrol footage it was determined that LYNRIC LASS did shift out and away from DREAMSEEKER near the 100m and was taken wider by that runner passing the winning post. Stewards were of the opinion that given the severity of the interference, the proximity of part of the interference to the winning post and the beaten margin, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred LYNRIC LASS would have finished ahead of DREAMSEEKER and subsequently dismissed the protest and ordered correct weight on the Judges placings.
