GENERAL

As a result of current Covid border restrictions rider J Worley was not riding at the meeting, and due to the limited pool of riders available, riding changes were made as per the Raceday Summary sheet, with Stewards permitting the following weight variation:
Race 3:  RUBY RUSH - C Rogers 56kg (+1kg)
 
As no riders were available the following runners were withdrawn at 12:00pm:
Race 1:  STELLAR WAY,  SAINT NO MORE
Race 3:  RINVIATA, BOLTIN’ DESIRE
Race 4:  GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS, AT THE HELM
Race 5:  ROSEAMI, DRACONIAN HEART

LEICA SPECIAL and CATHVALANNA were both declared late scratchings at 1:00pm due to transport difficulties.
 
Race 1 - Class B Handicap (1200 METRES)
 
GEKKO – Raced three wide throughout.
 
GAIUS JULIUS – Taken in and bumped at the 900 meters. 
 
EDDIEGATO – Bumped on jumping.
 
SHEZOME – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping EDDIEGATO.  Rider Z Sprie reported after settling further back in the field than anticipated, the horse found the line well when placed under pressure from the 400 metres. Trainer C Smith advised SHEZOME would be better suited in races over a longer distance than that of today.
 
VERY SOON – Slow to begin.
 
MASSIE WHISPER – Near the 900 metres was hampered, crowded for room and bumped with GAIUS JULIUS when WEATHER MAN shifted in when not fully clear.  Apprentice J McGrath, rider of WEATHER MAN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
 
 
Race 2 - OPEN Handicap (1200 METRES)
 
DEADLY ONE – Raced three-wide throughout with cover.
 
IBINI – Raced three-wide throughout without cover.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer N King was advised IBINI will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
 
 
Race 3 - BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1650 METRES)
 
TRUMP ME – Slow to begin.
 
INVINCIBLE FAITH – Fractious after being loaded in the barriers.
 
 
 
Race 4 - BAND 0 - 60 Handicap (1000 METRES)
 
THE LAST DRAGON – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.  App J McGrath was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the line.
 
BESTERS – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this event it was established that the club betting official had failed to advise all on-course bookmakers of the two late scratchings of LEICA SPECIAL and CATHVALANNA, which had been withdrawn by Stewards at 1:00pm due to transport difficulties.  On declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered all bets taken on LEICA SPECIAL and CATHVALANNA be refunded in full, and deductions of 29 cents face value the win, and 26 cents face value the place to apply on successful wagers.  Stewards advised club officials that moving forward more stringent protocols need to be put in place to convey such information to all on-course bookmakers to prevent a reoccurrence of a similar nature.
 
 
 
Race 5 - QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
 
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Raced three-wide early in the event.
 
STRAIGHT JANE – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Declared a late scratching at 4:30pm after being unable to be loaded into the barriers.  On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on STRAIGHT JANE to be refunded in full, and deductions of 9 cents face value the win, and 12 cents face value the place to apply on successful wagers. Trainer N King was advised STRAIGHT JANE would require a barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
