GENERAL
 
The following horses were declared late scratching’s by Stewards at 8.49am due to no riders being available at the meeting:
Race 1: ZA HIDDEN DRAGON
Race 2: ZOUPHISTICATE
Race 5: DIVINE COURAGE - ARMSTRONG BAY – HOWLER – VALUBIOUS.
 
Stewards accepted the reason given by Trainer V Jones for the late notification of a rider for KARAKAROO at today’s meeting.
 
Race 1: IRONPOT CO OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
MON PIERRE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
WITHOUT SHAME – Began awkwardly. Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
TOKYO SINS – Began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Weakened over the concluding stages. Jockey J Rudd reported that the mare never travelled well and in his opinion, TOKYO SINS was not suited by todays racing surface. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RUBUNKAR – Laid out under pressure passing the 200m obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding and straighten the gelding.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Hampered on jumping between RUBUNKAR and TOKYO SINS which shifted in on jumping.
 
Race 2: GEARD JOHNSON TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
DREYFUS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
QUEEN ARNI – Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey T Banks reported that QUEEN ARNI was inclined to lay out for the entirety of the event.
 
BOSS BANDIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground as a result. Shifted out passing the 400m to obtain clear running.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Slow into stride.
 
KARAKAROO -Stewards accepted the reason given by Trainer V Jones for the late notification of Jockey J Rudd as the rider for KARAKAROO at today’s meeting. Jockey J Rudd reported that the gelding became unbalanced when weakening over the final 50m and proved difficult to ride out fully to the line.
 
Race 3: ROYAL CARRANGARRA HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
 
DAZZINGTON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NYTHE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHERIFF'S STAR – Slow to begin. Over-raced from approaching the 1000m until passing the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider passing the 400m to obtain clear running.
 
STROMBOLINA - The start of this event was delayed when STROMBOLINA refused to load. The filly was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:42pm by order of Stewards. Trainer R Zahl was advised that the filly would require a further satisfactory barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on STROMBOLINA be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – SHERIFF'S STAR - 27c win, 26c place
2nd – DAZZINGTON - 26c place
 
Race 4: HOMESTEAD AGRIBUSINESS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
TRANSCELTIC – Slow to begin and bumped on jumping.
 
COLD ONE – Began awkwardly.
 
TOY STORY – Began awkwardly and bumped TRANSCELTIC.
 
TOUGH JUDGE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PINS AND NEEDLES – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: GEORGINA PASTORAL COMPANY QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
EDWARDS – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Apprentice Jockey H Saunders advised Stewards that after being slow to begin, EDWARDS resented the kickback from todays racing surface and failed to stretch out in running until shifting wider passing the 400m to obtain clear running and once the gelding was clear of the kickback, in her opinion the horse finished the race off stronger down the home straight.

FINAL MISSION – Slow to begin.
 
IL TORO D'ORO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HI FRANK – Fractious in the barriers and as a result was slow to begin.
