Supplementary report.
As Jockey Josh King was reported ill and would not be riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
Stewards inspected the track for today’s meeting and expressed concerns to Dawson Jockey Club representatives regarding the state of the track from the 1000m to the 400m. After club staff worked to dry out that section of the track, Stewards and senior riders conducted a further track inspection at 1.00pm and were satisfied the surface was safe for racing.
Race 1 – DAWSON RIVER PRODUCE/ TOP X/ LANDMARK/SAM BARLOW MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE- 1000M
FLAMBOYANT MISS – Trainer W. Baker was fined $100 by Stewards under LR. 44 for his failure to present Stewards with a letter of authority for an absent trainer. Additionally, trainer’s representative B. Fitzgerald was unable to present the Thoroughbred Identification Card for FLAMBOYANT MISS and was advised the mare will not be permitted to start again until the TIC is presented to Stewards.
SIR CLISBY - Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
Race 2 – UTOPIA STOCK TRANSPORT/ OWEN BRODIE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M
BRADY'N'ME - Held up momentarily at the 400m, then shifted out in an effort to gain clear running and travelled wide from that point.
HIDDEN DUCK - Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
ROSA MARGARITA - Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.
Race 3 – TAROOM PHARMACY/ BILL JOYNSON MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
BOB MARKS BOY - Bumped by another runner approaching the 1000m.
GOTTAGUN - Slow to begin. Hung out at the 1000m and made contact with another runner.
TIVERTON - Made heavy contact with the inside running rail at the 600m and lost ground.
WICKED WOODY - Jockey D. Rewald was reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
Race 4 – TAROOM WELDING WORX/DES JOHNSON MEMORIAL QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400M
ZWEZURA – Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer’s representative A. King and permitted the horse to race without ear muffs in today’s event.
DANGEROUS DANICA- Raced wide at the 600m.
NO INVOLVEMENT- Slow to muster speed and lost significant ground. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer and jockey D. Rewald stated the horse was never comfortable with the counterclockwise way of going. He added that NO INVOLVEMENT would now be sent for a spell.
Race 5 – LEICHHARDT HOTEL/ BOB SCOTT MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
FOUR IRON – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 300m and shifted wider on the track.
BLUE JEST – Apprentice T. Williams was reprimanded for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m point.
