GENERAL
 
Due to Trainer/Jky W O’Connell having two runners in the race, Stewards sought proposed riding instructions from Trainer/ Jockey W O’Connell regarding his horses BON IS GOOD ridden by Appr. Jky R O’Connell, and BUN IN THE OVEN to be ridden by Jky W O’Connell engaged in Race 1 at today’s program. Stewards were satisfied with his explanation of his riding instructions. After the running of Race 1 Appr Jky J Metcalfe became ill. Acting on advice from QAS Ms Metcalfe was stood down from ridding for the remainder of the program. Race 1: IGA TAROOM RATINGS BAND 0- 50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
IMPOUNDED- Raced at the rear of the field despite the rider’s best efforts to improve into the race. After the event Appr Jky J Metcalfe advised she felt unwell and after being examined by QAS, she was stood down by Stewards acting on medical advice.
 
ABSOLVE- Raced wide throughout.
 
BON IS GOOD- Stewards were advised by Trainer Mr W O’Connell he advised the rider to adopt a handy position if possible and not to use the whip in the home straight and to ride it strong hands and heels, Stewards noted his comments.
 
SUPER EXCEPTIONAL- Slow to begin, raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FLAWLESS AMBITION- Raced in a three-wide position for the majority of the event.
 
BUN IN THE OVEN- Trainer W O’Connell advised Stewards it was his intention to be positive and to try an adopt a forward position in running. Stewards noted his comments.
 
Race 2: TAROOM PHARMACY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (BILL COGILL MEMORIAL TROPHY) 1000M
 
HELIKEDEMPRETTY- Raced four- wide for the majority.
 
HOKKAIDO- Slow to begin, raced at the rear of the field for the majority. Appr Jky J Busuttin reported that her mount wasn’t suited to the racing surface at today’s meeting and resented the kickback. Stewards ordered that a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken. This examination failed to detect any abnormailities.
 
COINCIDE- Began well, caught wide approaching the 600m then was redirected in towards the inside rail to obtain a position behind the leaders.
 
AYE EYE- Slow to begin, raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KEWELL- Due to Appr Jky J Metcalfe being ill, she was replaced by Appr Jky R O’Connell. Slow to begin, racing three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 3: COUNTRYSIDE ELECTRICS QTIS NAIDEN PLATE (OWEN BRODIE MEMORIAL TROPHY) 1200M
 
HUNTAWIN- Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly, then raced wide while travelling at the rear of the field for the majority. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr D Lane and after considering Mr Lane’s comments and that the gelding was having it’s first run today Stewards took no further action at this time.
 
CORONATION DAY- When leaving the 800m point bumped with SHE’S GOT GRACE, and in turn rolled in marginally inconveniencing runners to the inside, notably OUR ESPRIT, which lost some ground. After viewing the footage available on the day and taking evidence from all parties’ stewards could not attribute any portion of blame to any one rider.
 
GIRLS GO HUSTLING- Proved difficult to load and after being slow to begin, raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event, despite the best efforts of the rider to improve into the race. Trainer Mr G Tully was advised that the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Steward before it would be permitted to race again.
 
OUR ESPRIT- Due to Appr Jky J Metcalfe being stood down on medical advice, she was replaced by Appr Jky S Wilcock.
 
SHE’S GOT GRACE- Leaving the 800m while racing wide rolled in marginally bumping with CORONATION DAY.
 
KRUMAC- Raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the event from the 600m, ran on well over the final stages.
 
Race 4: PHIPPS MECHANICAL REPAIRS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (DOUG ADAMS PATRONS TROPHY) 1400M
 
DESERT STAR- Slow to begin. At the 600m point had to ease off heels when she had trouble restraining her mount and as a result the rider of KIRELLA SHORES had to ease and lost ground. As a result of an admission by Appr Jky S Robbins and the evidence from Ms Kennedy Stewards advised Appr Jky S Robbins to exercise more care when attempting a run.
 
KIRELLA SHORES- Jky M Kennedy reported to Stewards that she struck some interference approaching the 600m. After reviewing the footage, due to the poor quality of the film Stewards were unable to determine if there was any inconvenienced caused to KIRELLA SHORES by DESERT STAR.
 
LINDA’S MAGIC- Was slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
THE STONE MASON-Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL TAROOM CUP OPEN HANDICAP(SAM JERRARD CUP TROPHY) 1400M
 
KIPTANUI- Was slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event before beginning to improve into the race from the 500m point and ran on well over the final stages.
 
MAN IN THE MIRROR- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Appr Jky J Busuttin reported the gelding failed to handle the kick back at today’s meeting.
