GENERAL

Race 1 and Race 2 start times were amended to 1.50pm and 2.25pm respectively due to QAS being late on course. Races 4 and 5 starting times were amended to 4.25pm and 4.50pm respectively due to an incident in Race 3 and the subsequent delay in QAS transporting Apprentice A Heinrich to the Taroom hospital for further treatment.



RACE 1:IGA TAROOM RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1000M



PONTOON PRINCE- Slow to begin and then raced wide for the majority. Jockey M Savva advised that in her opinion the gelding wasn’t suited by the racing conditions today. Stewards noted her comments.



THE SOLICITOR- Raced wide for the majority of the event.



JIGADEE- Slow to begin.



DESTINY GUNHO- Trainer M Birt advised Stewards she will be instructing Apprentice Jockey I Jessop to use of the whip sparingly throughout the race. Stewards permitted Ms. Birt’s request.



LATE NIGHT TALKING- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.



SHAMOLATTE- Slow into stride as the start was affected. Raced around when under pressure in the home straight.



RACE 2: TAROOM PHARMACY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M



TERAMBI- Slow to begin.



IDHANA- Shifted out marginally when approaching the 700m point.



MANHATTEN THUNDER- Shifted in marginally approaching the 700m when racing wide, resulting in EGYPITIANS REWARD being tightened and losing ground. Tended to lay in under pressure from the 400m. Raced wide for the majority. On returning to scales Jockey L Goomany advised Stewards his mount had difficulty in negotiating the reverse way of going today but was happy with the way his mount had finished off the race. Stewards noted his comments.



EGYPITIAN’S REWARD- Lost ground when approaching the 700m after being tightened for room when MANHATTEN THUNDER and IDHANA rolled in and out respectively at that point.



RACE 3: COUNTRYSIDE ELECTRICS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M



HANDSOME TRIUMPH- Slow to begin.



SLAYRIDER- Slow to begin raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.



BABUSHKA DOLL- Held up when leaving the 600m point for a short distance. Approaching the 350m point, BABUSHKA DOLL fell dislodging Apprentice Jockey Ms. A Heinrich who was injured as a result. Ms. Heinrich was treated by the attending QAS officers on course and later conveyed to the Taroom Hospital for further assessment. Stewards will inquiry into the reasons Apprentice Jockey A. Heinrich became dislodged approaching the 300m when she is fit to provide evidence in relation to this matter. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken of BABUSHKA DOLL which revealed a deep cut under the top lip, no other significant findings were detected. Trainer Mr. J Geppert gave an undertaking that he would report to Stewards any deterioration in the horse’s condition in coming days. Rider replacements for Ms Heinrich as per the Stewards Summary.



MADAM SO LATAIRE- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.



TUK TIC- While racing to the outside of BABUSHKA DOLL prior to the 300m was inconvenienced and lost ground to avoid BABUSHKA DOLL which fell.



RACE 4: PHIPPS MECHANICAL REPAIRS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400M



The start time of this event was amended to 4.25pm due to the delay in Apprentice jockey A Heinrich being transported to hospital after the incident in the previous race.



NITROGEN- Stewards ordered a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding have a quick back up when it raced at Emerald on the 22 September 2026. The horse subsequently passed fit to start. Apprentice Jockey K Barker reported to Stewards that she was held up momentarily prior to entering the home straight.



STROMBOLI DELIGHT- As no other rider was available Jockey S Wilcock replaced Apprentice Jockey A Heinrich who was injured in the previous race.



DONEGAL BAY- Slow to begin. Shifted wide to improve from the 400m and raced wide for the remainder.



SPIRIT OF NURAI- Raced wide for the majority of the event.



WE DO REMEMBER- On returning to scale Apprentice Jockey I Jessop reported that her mount was disappointing today and in her opinion the mare had failed to handle the racing conditions and the reverse way of going at today’s meeting. Ms. Jessop further advised the horse would be more suited on a bigger track. Stewards noted her comments.



SHERIFF’S STAR- Slow into stride and raced wide for the majority of the event.



OUTDOOR CAT- Raced keenly after taking up a leading position for the majority of the event, the rider L Goomany reported that he had difficulty in restraining the mare. Approaching the 200m OUTDOOR CAT began to weaken and finished towards the rear of the field. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr. B Davis about the racing tactics, he advised that overall, he was happy with the run, despite the mare racing hard for the majority.



RACE 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL CCC QUAL/TAROOM CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M



Race 5 start time was amended to 4.50pm



ROLL UP- Slow to begin, raced wide and at the rear of the field for the majority of the event and failed to improve into the race at any stage, despite the efforts of the rider M Savva. Stewards sought comment from Trainer W Pugsley regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of his horse at today’s meeting. He advised he was disappointed in the performance today and expected the horse to race in a handy position and would come into the race from the 600m and run on strongly over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered with this examination revealing a swollen right eye as a result of debris encountered during the run. Stewards advised Trainer W Pugsley that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding race again.



TURNSTAR- Raced wide for the majority of the event. On returning to scale Jockey S Wilcock advised that she had dropped her whip at the 300m which prevented her from riding the horse out to the best of her ability to the finishing line. Stewards noted Ms Wilcock’s comments.



STRATIFIED- On returning to scale Jockey H Richardson reported that her mount wasn’t suited to the racing conditions and the reverese way of going today but was happy with the way the gelding had finished off the race. Stewards noted Ms Richardson’s comments



TRICKY BEANS- Raced wide with cover during the middle stages of the event.



PUREZZA- Slow to begin.
