Prior to correct weight Stewards considered a protest lodged by Tasha Chambers, the rider of 4th placed STARGIRL against 2nd placed ZIPPING IRISH (Brooke Johnson) alleging interference near the 650m. Upon consideration of the evidence of the riders and trainer Clinton Taylor (ZIPPING IRISH) it was established that near the 650m ZIPPING IRISH shifted inwards marginally briefly inconveniencing STARGIRL. Stewards could not be satisfied the extent of the interference outweighed the margin of a length and a quarter between the two runners at the finish and accordingly dismissed the protest.
