GENERAL
Due to no suitable rider being available MO’S MARVEL was declared a late scratching from race 3 at 7:55am.
Due to the limited number of riders at today’s meeting stewards extended some leniency in regard to late declaration of riders.
RACE 1: GORDON KRAFFT MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M
DARLING CLEMENTINE – Raced keenly in the middle stages when racing with cover.
POPPY'S PRIDE – Began awkwardly and marginally slow to begin as a result. Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned jockey A Butler reported that his mount had travelled well in the early and middle stages however had failed to respond when asked for an effort.
LOVEZELADYS – Began awkwardly.
I'M NUMBER ONE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MEDIA GEM – Upon returning to the scales apprentice N Olzard reported that her mount was inclined to lay out from a point near the 600m and as a result proved difficult to fully test her mount. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer D Short stated that in her opinion the gelding is better suited to racing on grass surfaces in comparison to its most recent starts.
BOITUMELO – Stewards inquired into the circumstances of a late gear change being requested by trainer G Parker for the removal of pacifiers from the mares gear. It was established that a late gear change request was submitted by Mr Parker and was subsequently approved on the 12/9/25 without the race day stewards being aware or notified. Subsequently Mr Parker was reprimanded under AR206(2) for a late gear change. The stewards advertised on course and via social media as the corresponding gear change may not have been displayed on some publications. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 2: MILNE BROS TRACTORS AND TRUCKS BM55 HANDICAP 800M
The start of the race was delayed due to IMPACTFUL MISS undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start.
IMPACTFULL MISS – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
TENNER – Began awkwardly.
KAYTEE WISDOM – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
STELLA BOO – Began awkwardly. Hung out shortly after the start carrying LADY CONSORT wider. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey C McIver reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event. Stewards will monitor the mares racing manners in future race starts.
ARACELI – Raced keenly in the early stages.
LADY CONSORT – Began awkwardly. Carried wider shortly after the start when STELLA BOO hung outwards. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer J Lancaster advised that the mare may have appreciated the firmer track conditions today in comparison to its most recent start.
RACE 3: M & M ELECTRICS MAIDEN PLATE 800M
The start of this race was delayed due to QAS being required to attend to a patron. The start of the race was subsequently rescheduled to 3:17pm.
OFFICE POLITICS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing for an extended period and was cleared to start. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted wider near the 300m to obtain clear racing room. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
QUILL AMBITION –Shifted wider near the 300m to maintain clear racing room.
BE BOB ALOOLA – Slow to begin. Trainer S Rundle was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record for being slow to begin.
RICHBOY HARRY – Raced wide throughout.
EMBEZZLES – Proved difficult to load. Raced wide throughout. Trainer K Miller was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s record for proving difficult to load.
EMINEN – Raced wide throughout.
MO'S MARVEL – Declared a late scratching at 7:55am due to no suitable rider being available.
RACE 4: NOEL HOWARD MEMORIAL THANGOOL NEWMARKET BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M
The start was delayed marginally due to QAS having to attend to a barrier attendant. The start was further delayed when BUNGARRIBEE LAD refused to proceed to the barrier and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:48pm.
IMAGINE THAT – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Declared a late scratching at 3:48pm after refusing to proceed to the barriers. Stewards ordered all bets placed on BUNGARRIBEE LAD to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
Less 15c the win IMAGINE THAT (1st)
Less 15c the place IMAGINE THAT (1st)
Less 17c the place SANTORINI SUMMER (2nd)
Trainer R Thompson was advised that BUNGARRIBEE LAD would be required to complete a trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again
CANNY BE BETTER – Trainer S Green advised stewards that she was experiencing transport difficulties and would not be able to attend the meeting today. Subsequently CANNY BE BETTER was declared a late scratching at 1:04pm.
STARHATTAN – Bumped on jumping by CINDERELLA MAN. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A Butler reported upon returning to scales that his mount had raced flat throughout the event.
CINDERELLA MAN – Began awkwardly and bumped STARHATTAN. Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance apprentice A Meissner stated that in her opinion the gelding may not have handled the firmer track conditions today.
NICCONORI – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Over raced in the early stages. Upon returning to scales jockey A Spinks reported his mount raced flat throughout and was one paced during the event.
SANTORINI SUMMER – Began awkwardly.
RACE 5: ERIC & VAL NOBBS MEMORIAL THANGOOL CUP QTIS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400M
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the photo finish. After doing so, were satisfied of the judges numbers and correct weight was declared.
WOODSTOCK ROCK – Began very awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Laid outwards rounding the home turn. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the performance apprentice T Orr stated that the gelding may not have appreciated the firmer track over the concluding stages.
DULCET (NZ) – Slow into stride. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ROTHFURY – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
DEEP FURY – Fractious prior to the start and got its head down momentarily prior to the start being effected and was slow to begin as a result. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer G Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record due to its barrier manners.
GENERAL WOLFFE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
JUST BINGO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
HOLY CROWN – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the performance apprentice A Meissner stated that in her opinion the mares tendency to over race in the early and middle stages proved detrimental over the concluding stages.
SILENT ANGEL – Began very awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
MASALI RAFFA – Bounded on jumping and was slow to begin as a result.
Following the running of this race jockey T Chambers reported some minor soreness in her shoulder.
